Why I Insist You Take The 24 Hour Opportunity Challenge!

If you aren’t familiar with Adam Markel’s 24 Hour Opportunity Challenge go and read the previous blog. Adam is the author of the new book ‘Pivot: The Art And Science Of  Reinventing Your Career And Life’. Alright, are you now ready to begin. Okay, get contrast!

For 24 hours think nothing but crappy, lousy, defeating, negative thoughts. Think how much you suck, the world sucks, everyone sucks. Nothing ever works out for you, you are a loser and won’t ever get ahead. Think these legitimately and fully commit.

Are you in? Are you going to do it? I wouldn’t but that is just me. Most people already think a lot like this. If they aren’t downright negative their thinking  is lackluster and mediocre. They aren’t thinking powerfully positive they ho-hum through life.

A Positive Attitude Gives You Power Over Your Circumstances

So if you want you can go ahead and experiment. Or you can examine your own thoughts and determine whether each one you are aware of is negative or positive. Does the thought support you or defeat you? Does it make you more powerful or weaker?

Do you feel more confident or less confident? Do you feel more happy or less happy, even angry or sad? Which is it? Either you are negative or positive? Where do you spend most of your thinking time; in ‘I can’t’ or ‘I can.’? Are you feeling energetic or tired?

Are you feeling on top of the world or as if the world is on top of you? Are you taking responsibility and moving forward and making progress with your dreams and goals or are you blaming others and the world and making excuses for why you haven’t or can’t yet?

A Negative Thinker Sees A Difficulty In Every Opportunity

Well, which is it? Mindset is everything! How you look out into the world determines largely what you find, what you feel and what you experience. It isn’t magical it is just what it is. If you feel like things suck well then they probably do for you. For you, not for everyone.

Another person may feel in charge and on top of things. What we think determines how we feel. How we feel from that thought determines what thoughts we think next. Each thought and feeling leads to another. It is cyclic. Either spiraling down or rising up.

Which is more predominant in your daily life? It it positivity and optimism, good feelings and fun? Are you filled with ‘I can do it’ and then you take action or is it otherwise? If it IS OTHERWISE the great news is you can change it. It may take some work but you can do it.

A Positive Thinker Sees An Opportunity In Every Difficulty

That is why the opportunity challenge is such a great vehicle. Look for opportunity. Set your mind on it. Refuse to consider anything else. See everything as an opportunity for something, for growth or learning or moving ahead or relaxing and chilling. Opportunity!

Instead of whining and complaining that you aren’t getting the breaks, perhaps you could make your own, if you only thought more powerfully and positively. Perhaps, you’d be more creative and imaginative and find new ways you haven’t yet considered?

Wouldn’t that be cool? Of course it would! But you have to dive in to get the benefit. No dipping the toes. You must fully immerse yourself! Okay, okay, if you want to run through the sprinkler first and get a little wet, fine. Try it out. Put it into practice. Implement!

Train Your Mind To See The Good In Every Situation

Learn to control your attention and energy. Learn to concentrate and focus your mind like a powerful laser beam. Make your mind do what you want it to instead of you being bothered by it. Use your backbone. Develop some iron will. Stop being wimpy.

Invest in yourself. Take the challenge. Set your mind on the positive and find out what is there for you. Don’t stop at one day. Keep going. Develop a powerful new unstoppable attitude. Live life fully. Take charge of yourself and live as a champion does. Have fun!

I bet if you really do this you will discover something incredible. I bet you will have insights and learning and all sorts of fascinating moments. Only you can convince yourself it is worthwhile so take the plunge. Dive in and reap the rewards and benefits!

Take The 24 Hour Opportunity Challenge!

“Recently, Adam Markel, CEO and owner of the personal and business success training company, New Peaks, and author of the fantastic new book ‘Pivot: The Art And Science Of Reinventing Your Career And Life’ issued a challenge. I heard it. I accepted it.

You can too! I happened to be there when he mentioned it. I love it. It is a powerful, positive challenge, in line with all good thinking practices. He is passionate and dedicated to helping people transform their careers and their lives.

Adam walks his talk. He issued the challenge. I share it here so you can too. It is simple, absolutely simple. Whether it is easy remains to be seen. Regardless, the benefits can be huge. I hope you will join us and the others who already have begun.

The Bigger The Challenge – The Bigger The Opportunity

For 24 hours focus on opportunity. Think: There are no problems. Be: peaceful and calm. For 24 hours maintain your focus on this thought, this mantra: ‘I only see opportunities’. Remind yourself again and again. There you have it. Will you accept the challenge?

‘I see opportunities in everything. I see opportunities everywhere’. Notice the opportunities in everything. Look for the opportunity not the problem. Whatever occurs, steer your mind to how there is opportunity right there for you. If you go astray, gently return.

The challenge is to maintain this positive frame no matter what happens. Don’t look at or for the problem. Look at or for the opportunity. Can you imagine the opportunity in doing this? Not yet? Well, perhaps you will after you take the challenge.

Your Big Opportunity May Be Right Where You Are Right Now

Give it a try for 24 hours. One day. That isn’t too much to ask. Control and manage your thoughts for 24 hours. You can do it. It will be fun, illuminating and who knows what positive good you will discover? Are you up for the challenge. If so, do it! And then…

I suggest you do it again. Then again. ‘I only see opportunities’. Remind yourself. That is your mantra for 24 hours. Put a guard before your mind and thoughts, your eyes, your ears and your lips. There ARE NO problems only opportunities. ‘I see opportunity’.

It Is Not A Problem – It Is An Opportunity To Make A Change

Live and breath and speak only opportunity. For 24 hours you are not allowed to whine, complain, blame or discuss problems. Keep vigilant. If others are talking problems don’t join them. Don’t get sucked into gossip and other issues. Stay the course.

Reflections On Another 9/11

“You aren’t born a patriot or a christian or a jew. You are made a patriot, christian, jew, or muslim. Every country, each culture indoctrinates the youth. We are inculcated from birth and raised to be a product of the minds and environment around us.

We aren’t born Americans or Italians or Spaniards or Africans. We are  born people of a planet whose inhabitants have subdivided and drawn imaginary boundaries or borders, whom have institutionalized and nationalized its citizenry. All nations have.

I am not an American. I am not pro-american. I am not a flag waver or a reciter of pledges. I am not anti-american either. I am a human who lives in a particular area on the planet and who must, to some degree, to get along successfully adhere to its practices and rules.

Don’t Ruin A Good Today By Thinking About A Bad Yesterday

I do. AND I understand each group of people have theirs as well. None are correct or true. All have good points and all are flawed. We live in a nationalized world. If we want to engage in commerce we must play by the rules of the areas we are born into.

We can buck the system, reject the system, leave the system for another system but we can’t really be free of the system and live within the civilized world. We may rise above the system and be free in mind and spirit. We are still required to cooperate.Citizens we are.

We can be free in our hearts and soar high in our minds even while tethered to the land we walk on. So, likewise, we can be free of the political indoctrination while playing the game of citizen. We don’t have to live conditioned to jump because we are told we are to.

Forget What Hurt You But Remember What It Taught You

Songs, symbols all have the meaning we give it. Ours and others write their history as they deem it. None of this in intrinsic to us. Our flag, their flag, our anthem, their anthem; we all pledge allegiance to different lands, different rules, different ways of being.

What we have in common is we all do it. All nations do it. We are meaning makers. We are egocentric, we think what we do is important, even more important than what someone else or some other country does. We are all pretty similar in this regard.

I am at times proud of the country I live in. At other times I am ashamed. I don’t believe my country is any better than any other because we say it is. That is the folly of the zealot. Some countries seem more humane than others while others are less so.

Moving On Is Only For Those Brave Enough To Do So – Is That You

Some do good and bad things just as the people who populate any area are capable of. I am not in favor of institutionalized bigotry or discrimination. We are all the same species living within imaginary borders none of which appear on the actual planet. Classified!

Borders only exist on maps and human made globes. Territories are negotiated between people. We all have the same blood, breathe the same air, require food to sustain us, live in the same atmosphere and circle the sun together. We are all riding on the same spaceship!

Race, nationality, religion are all human made. They are distinctions to categorize and divide, designed to separate for political reasons. Groupings that don’t really matter except to those who engineered and adhere to the groupings. Designed for them used against us.

Awareness Is The First Step To Change Understanding The Second

It began with bands and tribes. Long ago humans notice and accentuated differences. They included and excluded based on economics and survival. Marriages and dowries exchanged for power and resources. People, separated, some by ‘blue blood’.

Those deemed born better than others. The haves and the have nots. The castle crowd and the peons. All of it is arbitrary and artificial. Concepts which are strained as we move forward in the 21st century. People fight to preserve the status quo. Vested interests.

Others seek to dismantle it. Some simply to move beyond such distinctions and celebrate our togetherness as people on one planet. We are a large group of fleas on the back of a dog. Not really much more than that. Except, this group can promote life or destroy it all.

Let Go Of The Past And Embrace Everything That Awaits You

We have evolved our technologies beyond our prudent and wise use of them. We are capable of doing great harm because we haven’t learned how to live and get along peacefully yet. We have not evolved ourselves as far or rapidly as our technology. We must.

We would do well to live with greater awareness of self and others. We would be wise to understand we are ALL in it together. We are all fighting for the same things in various ways. Enemies, like strangers, are just friends we haven’t made yet. We could, you know.

Perhaps, we aren’t ‘there yet’ as a species. We are still too concerned with power and control. We seek domination. We compete. We must be the top Alpha dog or we are nothing. Silly humans, we so miss the point. We live in potential paradise.

Life Provides You With Every Opportunity To Learn And To Evolve

Yet, we create most of the problems. Yes, weather and tectonics provide some. All the rest are human made problems we could most probably avoid. Some day perhaps we will. Until then, perhaps we ought to attempt to avoid them. Learn to get along. Become aware.

I think we would be better served deciding what we want that is good for all instead of for just a few. We would be better served building what we want instead of tearing down what we don’t. We focus on the wrong things too often. Let’s focus on the positive.

People celebrate wars and acts of terror. They say never forget but all that remembering hasn’t prevented anything, yet. Perhaps, we should forget and instead focus on the good that came from horrible acts. Promote what we want. Remember that and let go of all else.

I don’t celebrate a tragedy, nor an attack, nor the blame of whom may be responsible. All of that I would prefer to forget. People die everyday. People are attacked every day. People are blamed everyday. Horrible acts happen everyday all around the world.

Learn To Make Better Choices – The Decision Is Yours

I let go of death and destruction. I am not interested in the politics of 9/11 or other dates of destruction. I do remember that people were lost, sadly, tragically, needlessly. I celebrate the lives of those who left us because life is a celebration. We should remember them.

What I celebrate is people coming together to help those in a time of need. People responding bravely and selflessly to assist, rescue and recover others with no thought of the cost to themselves. These people didn’t have to but they did because they cared. 

I celebrate those who helped and got sick and died because they gave of themselves. I celebrate bonding and coming together for the good of each other. When calamity hits people tend to help each other. This is what we need to promote more of. Help each other!

What You Focus On Expands – You Get What You Focus On

Give, be generous. Stop the ‘me against them mentality’ and create a ‘we’ mentality. We are all in it together. We are on this rock until we aren’t. I repeat, we are all in it together. Let’s act like it. Let’s come together. Let celebrate our differences and embrace each other.

The world is filled with far more good people than bad. There are far more good acts than bad acts every day. This is what I choose to focus on and remember. This is what I choose to perpetuate. Life affirming, kindness and generosity toward others, selfless giving and a sense of hope. Peace, love, kindness, charity and goodwill. Be grateful for one another delight in each other. Then celebrate everything.” Rex Sikes

How To Get What You Want: The Law Of Attraction Or Neuroscience Which Is It?

“It doesn’t matter whether you believe the Law Of Attraction to be real or not real. Simply consider it a working principle, like gravity. Whether you accept it or not doesn’t matter. Gravity doesn’t rely on you accepting it for the consequences of it to be real.

I don’t think the Law Of Attraction is some magical law that makes the outer world bend to your will. I think of it as The Law Of Cause And Effect. For every cause there is an effect. The notion of like attracts like is simple, birds of a feather flock together.

I don’t make a big, magical, mystical deal about it. I don’t make a big deal over gravity either. I don’t believe or disbelieve in gravity, I accept it as what is. Perhaps, that IS believing, but I go about my day and let gravity do its thing. It will whether I care or not.

Whether You Think You Can Or Think You Can’t You Are Right

Some may prefer to think of the Law Of Attraction as neuroscience seems to regard it. It is a matter of your perceptions and what you believe. Our outlook, our frame of mind, our neurological filters govern what we experience as reality.

Our brain and senses govern our connection with ‘out there’. This is what connects us to the ‘outer world’. Without our consciousness we don’t experience the outer world. Yes, it may actually exist if we don’t, but who can actually say. Einstein preferred to think it does.

Still, if you are in a coma, you may NOT experience the world as we know it. You may but not remember it, you may experience other things or you may not at all. I don’t think the jury is in on that one yet. Prior to human consciousness no one determines a day good or bad.

Birds Of A Feather Flock Together

No one complained about the weather. That takes weather and a human AND a purpose. If you plan to plant and the weather destroys your seeds one might consider this NOT a good thing. Because you wanted to plant and now you can’t it sucks. That is what humans do.

Humans add a judgement to what is. They add the value. They make it one up or one down when the reality is IT just IS. So people do the same with ‘faith’, and with ‘science’. We judge everything! We judge everything from our own limited perceptual maps and filters.

We, according to ‘neuroscience’, KNOW that we can’t KNOW everything but we act as if we do. We often act as if we ARE the authority and as if what we THINK is the case, is the case. It most probably isn’t but that doesn’t matter to us. We think it is.

Awareness Is Needed For You To Deliberately Change

So neuroscience is all about your neural pathways and perceptions and consciousness or awareness. It looks at our how awareness has evolved through time. Philosophy and religion do too. All of it is our best guesses about the nature of things.

I believe that we have an opportunity to get our brain and mind to work for us instead of seemingly against us. I believe our brain and mind IS important in how we experience the world and the results we get or don’t. I believe it does matter what we think and do.

Without human thought none of our human creations would exist. Thought created this world as we know it, good and bad. None of our buildings, roads, electronics would exist without thought and the ability to carry out plans. These exist because of thinking.

Thought Or Mental Action Precedes All Action 

Thought is a powerful creative force. Some people are free because of their thoughts some are imprisoned. Literally and figuratively. How we go through our daily life is dependent on the daily thoughts we think. Our results stem from our mindset and attitude.

Our feelings and actions, our habits are dependent on what we are thinking. Good thoughts lead to good feelings which lead to good actions and good habits. This pathway leads to good results. Are the results guaranteed? Nope, but they are more likely than not.

If you work at it and never give up you are bound to get further than the person who thinks they can’t or won’t. If you start and keep going  you are bound to get further than the person who never starts regardless of whether you know what your are doing or not.

You Reap What You Sow – What Have You Planted

It’s has everything to do with self alignment. You think and then you do and get back according to your thoughts and actions. Cause and effect, the Law Of Attraction or neuroscience, or pseudoscience you act and reactions occur. You shove and someone shoves back.

Get it?  You don’t have to make it mystical. You can see it happen everyday. You can see thought bring about results in action each moment. All you have to do is look and listen. Watch the people who whine and complain and what they think is preventing them.

Regardless of their answers or assignment of cause, the bottom line is, if they are complaining about not getting, they aren’t getting. It isn’t benefiting them to complain IS IT? Blaming not planting on the weather still means not planting. Until you plant nothing happens.

Don’t Expect Corn If You Plant Beans – You Reap What You Sow

YOU have to do it regardless of what you THINK prevents you. Obviously, I mean this to be about getting the good you desire for yourself and others in honest and legitimate ways. A conscience is still a good thing. More people need to use it.

Your thoughts affect how you  feel and the results you are able to get. It’s not magic but seemingly magical. So whether you believe you connect with the Universe or the Law Of Attraction bestows things on you or that your brain is doing it all doesn’t matter.

Just get your mindset straight and working for you. Think and grow rich as Napoleon Hill said. Think and create. Think and attract. Think and make your good thoughts happen because you are the principle thinker and architect of those thoughts. Do it. No one else will.

You Can Plant Flowers Or Weeds Which Are You Planting

Find or attract like minded people who are interested in making the same thing happen as you are and work together in harmony and precision. That is loosely the basis of a mastermind group. Birds of a feather flock together whether they are thoughts or birds.

Like minded people accomplished great things in this world in spite of experts and others, and their parents, telling them they couldn’t and that they would fail. They triumphed in spite of hardship, bad weather, raging seas, opposing forces and armies.

Most succeeded because they believed they would and because they felt they must. They thought straight into it. They acted their way forward. They let nothing stop them. Whether they believed in god or not they did it. You can too. You can make it happen.

To Get More Good You Must Think More Good And Do More Good

You don’t have to believe the Law Of Attraction is real or not. You don’t have to accept neuroscience. Make it happen because you believe you can make it happen. Then work to do it. If you believe in your purpose and in yourself you can bring it into being.

You can enlist the aid of others if necessary. Most things need others sweat or finances. People need people to move things along. Be nice. Go first if you want others to join you. Treat them well and be a person they can like, trust and be loyal to. Live high standards.

Think your way to success. Aim your thoughts. Manage them and your emotions and you can prevail. Be the Law Of Attraction in action and draw all good things unto you. Believe you can. Believe you can find or create away around any obstacle. Then you will.

Your Thoughts Make It So – Perception Is Everything

Attitude IS everything. Enjoy life to the fullest. Have fun. delight. Make it delicious. All work and no play, you know! Stop and smell the roses. Share your delights with loved ones and others. Be generous not stingy. Feel thankful and blessed and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Do This Whenever You Feel Stressed!

“What can you do when you get frustrated? Perhaps, you’re dealing with customer support that upsets you more than helps you; the kids are clamoring for your attention; you have deadlines; your career is going nowhere; or there are more bills than there is month.

There are some things you can do to bring yourself more calm and balance regardless of what is upsetting you. The first and most important thing you can do is breath. Take a deep breath! Then another, slowly, and then another after that. Breath deep. Slowly.

When people stress they tend to hold their breath. Stopping breathing puts us in survival mode as our body tries to resolve the physical difficulty and resume normal breathing. This struggle to return to normal compounds the stress and frustration.

Walk As If You Are Kissing The Ground With Your Feet

By holding our breath or limiting our breaths we actually make everything more complex and difficult for us. SO BREATH, relax and let go. Get grounded. That means find your center of gravity. Get connected with earth. Think: electricity needs a ground.

All that power needs to be grounded. You do too in order to maximize your power and not waste it fighting to survive. You need focused energy; not energy discharging in every direction. Breath from your belly not high in the chest . Your breath helps connect you.

Breath from your abdomen or your lower groin. Feel yourself planted on the ground; rooted in the earth. Imagine yourself sending out roots from your feet or from the base of your spine into the earth to ground you, to connect you with the firm earth.

Get Grounded – You Can Navigate The Stormiest Roads In Peace

Many people, when frustrated go to their head. Thinking accelerates and it is mostly negative. Usually it’s about what doesn’t work, why or how it doesn’t, who’s to blame or at fault and how everything sucks. It isn’t productive; it doesn’t solve problems. Go to your body.

It’s crappy thinking. It is stuck in the problem and people are stuck in their head. It as if spinning your wheels without contacting the ground. Lots of frivolous fast effort without any traction won’t get you anywhere. Get grounded. Seek balance. Pause. Create a gap.

People begin thinking faster, frivolous, negative thoughts. Meanwhile, they are getting hot under the collar and more stressed out. They don’t pay attention to what’s going on in their body except to notice the discomfort. Their focus is on what is wrong.

You need to stop this destructive cycle. It is an old conditioned reaction to ‘what’s wrong’. You go through it every time and you will continue to until you learn to change it. You need to stop it being a problem. You need to learn a new, better way to do things.

The way you stop is to change your focus. You put your attention elsewhere. Anywhere other than on the problem. The easiest and best place to put it is on your body and your breath. Breath and let go. Breath and center yourself. Breath and relax. Purposefully, relax.

Pause And Remember – Stop And Reflect – Breath And Let Go

If you take good deep breaths that will help you to begin relaxing. Then you need to do the rest. You need to get present. Stop thinking the crappy thoughts. Notice your breathing. Notice where in your body it feels the best NOT THE WORST! Attention ON The BEST!

Look around, notice the world. Stop and see it. Look with curiosity. Listen. Shut up on the inside and listen to what is present. What is going on right NOW around you? What is happening that you would miss if you didn’t put your focus on it? NOW FOCUS ON IT!

Notice how you feel;  your feet on the ground or your butt in the chair. Notice the breath coming in and going out. Notice the relaxing occurring as you breath. Stop thinking and just be. Take a moment to return some balance to your life. Breath and let go. Relax.

Pause – Become Aware Of A Silent Sense Of Presence

When you are ready, shift your thoughts to the positive. Think happy, positive thoughts. Focus on gratitude, something, anything, that makes you smile and feel better. Take your time. Settle down and now think nice positive happy thoughts. Visualize yourself calm.

Real thoughts not fluffy thoughts. Imagine how good it feels to relax and let go and how you are able to do that. Be thankful for being able to relax and change what is going on. Pat yourself on the back for getting more centered. Think about what is good in your life. Savor.

Enjoy and savor the thoughts and the feelings. If, whatever you were doing can wait, then take a walk. Enjoy moving and looking around. If possible go outside, enjoy nature. If not move around a bit OR sit and reflect, meditate and find peace.  Later, you can problem solve.

Create A Gap Between Chaos And Calm – Notice Your Breath

There is a trick to problem solving. You are a better solver of problems when creative. You are more creative when you are relaxed and refreshed. When you are playful and enjoying life you are better than when stressed and burdened and preoccupied.

In order to more efficiently solve problems put yourself into the right frame of mind and emotional state of well-being. Then your time spent and problem solving will be fruitful. Learn self control and the ability to manage your mood. It is a valuable skill. Use it.

Train yourself to become aware when you get agitated. Notice yourself moving into less than glorious feelings; notice the acceleration of negative thinking. Notice you are focused on what you do not want and your body is becoming stressed. Change it.

Release The Unwanted – Focus On The Wanted – Stay Centered

Learn to recognize the negativity and what it is doing to your body and then shift from chaos to calm. It gets easier the more you do it. You’ll notice yourself getting frustrated earlier on and change it quicker and quicker. You’ll develop the habit of becoming grounded.

Transform your life. Change your thoughts and everything can change. Be grateful, have fun, let go and breath. Learn to meditate. Take time each morning to center and ground yourself before you go about your day. This is an excellent way to start each day!

Practice becomming centered when you don’t need it. Then it will be available to you when you do. Whenever stressed, center yourself. Create a pause. Take a break. Create balance and then celebrate. Be grateful. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Confession Is Good For The Soul

Yesterday I began with a confession. I continue today. I bottomed out at 25 and had to change or die. That was what I felt my options were. Then I made a decision. I committed. Some people have to have enough pain before they rise up. I know I sure did in my past.

Others just excel from the start.  It doesn’t matter. Everything is all good. Everything is a blessing especially if you can look at things that way. Challenges make us stronger. There is much to learn. Mindset is the difference that makes a difference. It is the edge we need to win.

You change your mindset to win! That is the starting place. Change the thinking and you change the feelings. As a result your actions improve, you replace the old chronic habits with new successful ones and you begin to get better results. Then you maintain it!

Live As If You Would Die Tomorrow Learn As If You Live Forever

My life, in retrospect has been perfect. It is perfect and it will be perfect. Perfect is what you make it! It IS what it is. Happiness inside first, as an attitude can see you through many tough times. I learned to be happy is a choice you have to make. You really have to choose.

I did. I finally decided to be happy no matter what. You Can Too

I could learn to be happy, healthy and wealthy. I could learn to be anything I desired to be as long as I would commit, put in the effort and not stop trying until I succeeded, OR, at least until I was proficient and then continued to improve. It is a decision. A choice.

I had no special skills or strengths. I floundered, drifted, was okay at something, better at others, and sucked at some. Average, I was average. I wasn’t special in any way. Most of my life I felt unlucky. Still, I managed. If I can you, or anyone else, can too.

If I Asked People What They Wanted They’d Say Faster Horses

I share this because if there is any reader out there doubting, feeling insecure, afraid, forlorn, angry at the world, self, others or god, you too can make it different. It may not be easy at first, but it is quite simple. You decide, you commit to yourself, to learn to be different,

You chose to learn how to control your thoughts, the thoughts that make you feel bad, and learn how to replace them with good thoughts, better thoughts that make you feel better. You understand that change starts within and moves to the outside.

Most of us think something from the outside will save us or help us. We think if the circumstances are right or if we get the right things then all will be better. WE HAVE IT BACKWARDS! It is mindset first that affects everything else and the results we get.

Attitude Is A Little Thing That Makes A Big Difference

Happiness is a choice that you can make. We choose to be happy, we choose to think better and we begin making adjustments from where we are at. We begin before we are ready and before we know how. We start right, here right now with what we have.

And with what we don’t have. We simply begin as we are this moment. Nothing more, nothing less. Now, this instant, is when the time is right and you are perfect for it. If you wait or delay hoping to get some extra knowledge you will only succeed in delaying it.

Change begins the moment we decide and commit to being different. Think, ‘I can learn to be happy. I can learn to decide to be happy. I can choose to be happy each moment. I am able to learn. I can do positive things for myself. I can chose to do what I want’.

Change Is Inevitable Progress Is Optional – ChooseAnd Commit

‘I am a creator. I created problems I can create solutions. I am powerful. I am positive. I am a learner and a doer. I can do positive helpful things for myself and others. I can find enjoyment where I didn’t know it existed. I am grateful I can walk.

‘I am grateful I can speak.’ Keep on expressing your gratitude. Think of the many reasons you have to be grateful. The people, things and circumstances in your life. Affirm them and feel grateful. Acknowledge your abilities and resources. Affirm them.

Repeat the positive mantras, like those above, again and again. Chant them with strong positive feelings. Make them count. Feeling are the secret to making it all work. The better you feel the more readily you create and attract. It works amazingly well!

Because When You Stop And Look Around This Life Is Amazing

Keep doing it. You may have some  great days, you will. You may have some not so great days, you will. Through all of it keep up the practice. Read positive inspiring books, listen to audios, find positive, uplifting people to hang around with. Fill your mind!

Fill your mind, heart,and soul with the positive, the good, the possible as much as you can during your waking hours. Practice seeing yourself as you want to be in your imagination. If you aren’t too good at it at first, hang in there. You’ll get better with practice.

You probably can’t juggle either if you haven’t tried. You can master both. You can become a great visualizer through practice. Enjoy building your skills and transforming your life. Have fun, delight, express your gratitude and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

I Have To Confess This!

“‘Confession is good for the soul’. Everyone has something they need to disclose. I have to get this off my chest. Not because it is a burden to me, but because it might help many people to understand they are not alone in this. We  all have areas in ourselves that challenge us.

This is my confession. I grew up, longing for the past. I wished I had lived way back ‘when’.  In ancient times. I longed to live in the golden era of Hollywood, too. I looked back and saw glamour as a pirate or as a film star. The past held a deep fascination for me.

As I grew older I longed for the past even more. My good old days. Days gone by. Old friends and passed pets. I cherished the memories. I lived in the present and re-lived the past. As it came time for me to plan for the future I wasn’t very good at it.

Make Peace With The Past – Celebrate And Enjoy The Present 

Of course not, I had little practice. Oh sure, as a child I wanted to be a pirate, a gladiator, a magician, a spy, a detective, a scientist, an astronaut, a movie star. I did have ambitions but I wasn’t actually sure how to fulfill any of them.

As a teen actor and in my early twenties I knew I wanted to act and be a success but I couldn’t imagine what it was like to BE successful.. I wanted to live the celebrity life but couldn’t see it happening. I spent time longing for old Hollywood wishing I hadn’t missed out.

I couldn’t picture myself succeeding. I could more readily picture myself getting hurt, screwing up, and failing, but ‘successful’ that was very difficult. The images were vague and fuzzy. Opaque at best. I was not good at visualizing. To be honest, I sucked being positive.

What Is Ahead May Be Greater Than Anything You Can Imagine

I tried affirmations, creative visualization and never got very far. I abandoned them, then try again later. I wondered what was wrong with me? Why couldn’t I get these things to work? I wondered and lamented at why so many  of my friends were soaring to success?

All around me people became famous and rich,  but I wasn’t. I blamed it on me. I wasn’t tall enough, or good enough, or good looking enough. I thought others were just luckier and I had bad luck, bad timing. If only I had been born into the studio system.

I did workshops and seminars but often felt worse because I felt stuck and broken. I read all the books, I knew all the right info  but couldn’t make it work in my life. I struggled with feeling lost and hopeless. I was angry a lot. Bored, I was incredibly bored.

The Longer You Live In The Past The Less Future You Get To Enjoy

I didn’t know what to do. If you aren’t acting as an actor you aren’t doing anything. The studios didn’t just let you in. Celebrities didn’t help you just because you knew them. A lot of people wanted you for money or sex, or both,  but not for having a star career.

Many took advantage of you in other ways. ‘Work for free you’ll be a big star.’ Lot’s of time feeling down, depressed, angry and abused. It is a rough, tough, pursuit. You hear ‘no’ more than anything. It is easy for some to blame self and others and do drugs or worse to cope.

I don’t share these things because I think they were terrible. Sure, I had it rough. Not as rough as some and rougher than some others. I share them because if I can change my focus from what was to what is and what will be, then anyone can.

In Order For Light To Shine Bright Darkness Must Be Present

If one can change all can change. It is possible! That is what I had to learn. We are capable of transformation and we don’t have to live as we had in our past. Our previous conditioning while difficult to recognize, override and escape is not impossible. It IS possible!

If I can learn to make affirmations and visualization work anyone can. You can! Never say never. For me, it took constant application. Struggle, I gave up. I tried again. I wasn’t smart enough to just keep trying until I was at a point where I couldn’t lose any more.

I’ll share more tomorrow. Whatever your life story is or was you can change it. You, and only you, can make yourself and your life be what you want it to be. Yes, you can! You may have more or you may have less to overcome but you can do it whatever it is. You truly can.

Old Ways Won’t Open New Doors – Change Is Good – Celebrate

Just don’t wait. Begin today if you haven’t already. Decide and commit. It isn’t always easy but it is quite simple. The first step is awareness that you need to or want to change. Next comes the decision and your commitment. Do that everything follows.

Take it step by step. You’ll begin to notice shifts in your thinking and being. Sometimes, the last to change are the results you get. The circumstances, change last, but you change first. Then you can navigate any circumstances. For some, everything changes!

Begin now, right where you are and move forward. Learn to feel and express gratitude and thankfulness because everything in your past brought you to where you are today so you can be who you want to be. Why doesn’t matter. You have wonderful opportunity right now.

All Great Changes Are Preceded By Chaos –  Challenge Is Good

Gratitude opens everything up. When you count your blessings you focus on feeling good and thinking positive. That change right there makes all the difference in the world. Attitude first and all the other changes can follow. So enjoy! Appreciate! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Those Who Belittle Positive Thinking Want To Think Positively But Can’t!

“Because I write this blog and teach seminars and workshops, speak and keynote. I frequently get questions from those wanting to know if the law of attraction or positive thinking works. Sometimes, I get comments from people telling me how neither can work.

It is both sad and fascinating listening or reading their negative thoughts about thinking positive. Many people suffer because they don’t hear what they are thinking and saying. Many people THINK they think positive when they do not. Most of us are like this.

They say and think things such as, ‘it can’t work.’  ‘If it did everyone would be rich’.  ‘I tried it but got nowhere.’ ‘You are blaming the poor for being poor if you say they are responsible for their results.’  On and on. I wonder sometimes, do they not really hear themselves?

Whether You Think You Can Or You Think You Can’t You Are Right

I wonder IF and WHEN they could actually hear what they are expressing, if they would simply stop, and pay attention to what they are claiming. If they became a bit more aware might they not want to change their thinking to be more useful.

If you don’t want to think positive or you think the Law Of Attraction is crap so be it.  BUT why go out of your way to tell me or others? What is the point?  I know they are not attempting to rain on someone’s parade and they mean no disrespect.

Usually, they are really hoping for an answer that will transform their life. They protest loudly hoping someone will convince them otherwise. Not everyone of them do this, of course. There are those disappointed ones who want company for their misery. Still…

A Change In Awareness Leads To A Change In Perception

I believe, if they would just change their thinking, instead of expecting someone to answer with the right answer, they would be further ahead. I think that many desperately want to be proven wrong on the inside or they wouldn’t make such an issue of it.

Sometimes they write a message like,  ‘you are so unrealistic. you have no idea how hard it is.’ Or ‘You have no idea what I endure.’ Or ‘everybody would be successful if they did what you say’. I do agree with this whole heartedly and most, sadly, don’t do what I say.

Sometimes, I think some tough love is in order. I want to say, ‘Wait let me get out my violin. You have had it tough. You don’t think it would work. Keep doing whatever you are doing then if you think you found the way. Keep on going. No worries.’ Live and let live.

If You Always Do What You Always Did You’ll Get What You Got

Or in the words of Doctor Phil, ‘how’s that working for you?’ Obviously, it isn’t. So they launch into a tirade sometimes.  Sometimes, they are just afraid. Sometimes, they really are asking for the solution. However,  you wouldn’t know it by their actions.

People want change and, yet, are afraid to change. They want their cake and to eat it, too. I understand that, so do I. What I found works for me and countless others so I share it so you can make it work too. If you don’t want to, if you have your own way and path, go for it.

Share your way if it works well. That is fine. We can all get to where we want to get to, successfully, without trampling on others. I like it when every one wins. Yes, I’m aware every one winning isn’t the competitive way of predatory capitalism. It really is not.

Insanity Is Doing The Same Thing And Expecting Different Results

There does’t have to be a loser in this. Everyone can win. There IS enough for everyone to have. Sadly, in the world, it is not distributed for everyone to have. There are those who keep more than their fair share and restrict access for others. Yes, it sucks. It really sucks.

That doesn’t mean, positive thinking and the Law Of Attraction don’t work. It means there are changes we need to make and can work toward. We can positively change the world, person by person, as we focus on solutions to overcome the difficulties people face.

We won’t get their throwing in the towel. We CAN make lots of change being angry and hateful but that won’t necessarily bring us what we want. It might just bring us a whole lot of what we don’t want and what got us into these messes in the first place.

Birds Of A Feather Flock Together – Like Does Attract Like

We might be better off being clear about what we want to do that brings about positive change for ourselves and the world. Be clear and know what we want that takes us further along without harm, without discord and hate. If we want peace, being peaceful is first.

We don’t get peace bullying others. It doesn’t come from hate and name calling. It doesn’t come from limiting other’s access and depleting their resources to benefit us. It doesn’t come from thinking it is hopeless and impossible. It comes from peace!

Our thoughts and our actions determine what we get back. I never claim positive thinking or the Law Of Attraction is magical. I claim it is practical and based in the principle of cause and effect. I am not saying karma will get you either, as some people think it.

Thoughts Lead To Feelings – Feelings Lead To Behaviors

I am saying if we want a  better life for ourselves AND for others then we must do those things that more easily and readily bring it about. Our thoughts and feelings and behaviors ARE important. That is why I share what I share. Yes, others may not agree.

I believe if you want more good put good out there. If you want kindness returned to you be kind first. If you want a happier life manage your thoughts and your feelings. Be happy first. Be filled with gratitude. Live and enjoy. Then you WILL know it! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Don’t Miss Solutions While Focused On Problems

“You’ve gone through some tough times. Tough times are made tough by what we see, hear and think. They are also tough because of what we don’t see, hear and think. We focus on some aspects while entirely missing other aspects.

What we miss could be critical to our success. What we aren’t thinking about or considering MAY be the key to everything else. Yet, we miss it because of where we put our attention. You’ve heard it said, ‘energy flows where attention goes’. It does work that way.

Napoleon Hill had this to say. ‘Every adversity carries with it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit. Pain, failure, setbacks, defeats, losses – misfortunes we must all suffer – are simply part of the human condition. No one wins all the time.’

Difficult Roads Often Lead To Beautiful Destinations

‘Those who succeed are those who do not let adversity stop them. They persevere. They view hardships as tests that permit them to build their strength to even greater dimensions and carry on. Remember this critical point:

Defeat is never the same as failure unless it has been accepted as such.’  I think it is important to embody this quote and take it to heart. Commit it to memory. Persevere. Build your strength to greater dimensions. Carry on. Don’t accept failure. Keep going.

Learn from the lessons. Learn to look for the seed of equivalent or greater benefit in all hardship and difficulty. Don’t miss it! Too many people do. While focused on the problems they miss everything else that could be a solution or opportunity. They focus on the negative.

It Is All In How You Look At It – Believing Is Seeing

Learn to recognize opportunity and benefit even while in the midst of the storm. Problems can be blessings if you view them as such. Consider them opportunities to learn and practice new things. Consider them challenges to test your strength. Accept the tests!

As you do these things you learn how to control your mind and manage your thoughts and feelings. Don’t give up because your feelings are hurt. Don’t quit because you think lousy thoughts. Seek to excel. Find the best and adhere to that. Keep moving forward!

Develop you will and your initiative. Stop making excuses and blaming others or circumstances. If you don’t like the circumstances change your response.  In fact, change circumstances to serve you. Exercise your will. Make things happen. Be courageous and be bold.

Tough Times Don’t Last Tough People Do

Be positive and move forward. Find the good in everything and be glad. Be happy and be grateful. Collect the wins and feel successful. Success breeds success. Happiness  attracts more happiness. Gratitude opens the door for so much more. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Make Things Happen By Pacing Reality

“So, you wanted to manifest some things; money, ideal weight, the perfect relationship, harmony with family, whatever it is. The issue is you just didn’t believe you could do it. Or you didn’t believe it was possible for you. If that is the case you may want to implement this.

The issue you have is doubt. You doubt it will happen for you or that you can make it happen. I’ll be one of the first to say, ‘yup, it isn’t going to just happen for you’, but YOU can MAKE IT happen. Yet, you still don’t believe that, perhaps. You have tried affirmations.

You’ve tried visualization and you just haven’t made it work, yet. The reason again, is belief. If you doubt it and don’t believe you can do it what you ARE creating and attracting is more of the same doubt. Do you understand this? You have to change what you are doing.

Believe You Can And You Are HalfWay There

One of the things that does work is to pace reality. This means you describe what is ongoing and observable. I am sitting in a chair, typing on the computer. That is what Rex is doing. You are reading these words.  Beyond that Rex doesn’t know but you do.

You know where you are, the place and what it looks like. You know the temperature, the time of day. You know if you are sitting, standing or lying down. If you’re at home, work or on a train, plane or bus. Get it? You can describe your reality. Okay, okay that is pacing.

That is pacing the ongoing reality of your moment. That’s fine, but we are going to pace in another way, instead. We are going to pace the world at large, in general. For example, you think that you could never make enough money or become debt free. You can affirm this:

Believe That You Can Do It And You Will Do It

‘There are many people in the world who began with nothing. More people have made fortunes than have inherited them. Everyone begins somewhere. It may have been difficult for them too, but they did it. Right now someone just became wealthy! Someone did it.’

People are getting rich and making fortunes everyday. There is plenty of money going around. Billions and billions of dollars are exchanging hands each second. Just now someone received a large amount of money. Someone just received a big check.

More people are learning how to manage their money and make fortunes. There are lot’s of people creating wealth in today’s market. People find and win money too. Plenty of people are really good with money. If it is possible for some of them all of them probably could.’

Encourage Yourself And Encourage Others – You First

Here is the point. You want to uncover what is going on in the world. Plenty of people are eating well and maintaining their ideal weight. There are lots of people from all backgrounds and families who are healthy in spite of genetics. There are people right now meeting others, on dates, and falling in love. Everywhere in the world.

It is all going on right now. If it is possible for them it can be possible for you too. If, when you read these thoughts, you feel a bit more hopeful that is a good thing. You want to learn that you too can be part of the success crowd. Sometimes our focus is too narrow.

Especially when it comes to thoughts that limit us. We sometimes think we are alone, only we have this issue. Or anyone with the problems we have are doomed. Well, there are plenty of examples in the world of people with less doing more. If they can you can.

What We Want To Do With Ease We Must First Do With Diligence

Use the pacing of reality to create a window of opportunity for you. Pace the world in this way so that you learn it is possible and that it is going on. From there you can begin to learn to do what others do as well. ‘Others made money. They started from nothing. I can too.’

‘I can begin to learn to manage my money and create wealth.’ From there you can affirm, ‘I am learning to manage my money and create wealth. I enjoy learning. As I learn I become more able to do the things I want. I feel confident I can being to make more money too.’

You pace the world, and yourself. Then you lead yourself one stepping stone at a time down the path of least resistance. You pace and lead yourself into more easily and readily believing you can do it. When you believe you can then it becomes possible and more likely.

Step By Step You Make Your Way – It Is  A Journey Not A Race

Without the belief in yourself you won’t. Believe in yourself and that it is possible and you can learn to do anything. You really can begin to make your dreams come true. Stop resisting and start assisting yourself in moving forward. Step by step. Pace yourself into it.

IT WORKS! You can free yourself from years of defeatist limited thinking by pacing your way out of it. You really can. Of course, you actually have to do the work. Once you implement it , stick with it until a new reality is yours. It takes whatever time it takes.

If you want to be a success you need some skin in the game. What are you willing to pay or give up to succeed. Are you willing to keep at it until you win. If you truly are you will. If you quit you will have succeeded in quitting. Stop quitting and start winning. DO IT! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
