An Actor’s Thoughts: The Importance Of Focus

“Why do I write about distraction and the importance of being focused? As an actor, concentration is everything. Energy flows where your attention goes. You must pay attention! This is true for everyone. What you focus on expands. Your thoughts do matter.

An actor must be of one mind. If the actor’s attention is split, part on the character the actor portrays, and part on remembering one’s lines, the performance will suffer. The actor’s full attention must be on the character created. This is why you rehearse and learn lines.

The actor rehearses to be free of distractions and free in the moment, as the character, to take advantage of opportunities that present, during the scene. The actor must listen and concentrate on the others in the scene. Attention is everything. Remember this!

Practice Creates Confidence – Confidence Gives You Power

This is true for all of us; everyone. We can learn from the actor’s commitment and dedication. The actor spends time memorizing and rehearsing so, when performing, it appears fresh, as if it is occurring for the very first time. BUT it is well rehearsed. It is practiced!

All of us can benefit from rehearsal and practice. Athletes and teams rehearse and practice. Musicians and all performing artists practice thousands and thousands of hours to be able to perform in real time. All skills require we wire them in; golf, swimming, piano, cooking.

Jugglers and tightrope walkers practice to get good and to make it look like they are doing some things for the very first time. They practice making it look dangerous and scary. Sometimes, it really is. They wouldn’t think to attempt something without wiring it in!

Every Practice Session Is A Learning Process – Learn Success

Why should we expect any less of ourselves when it come to making our lives great and our dreams come true? Manifesting what you want, making it happen, IS a skill. It requires practice. Managing your thoughts and feelings and actions require the same commitment.

Spend time each day affirming and visualizing what you want and you will get better at it. Take inspired actions toward your goal, get up off your butt and do something in that direction and you will get better at it. Read and fill your mind with positive thoughts.

Everyday do something. Even if it is only a little bit, it is better than nothing. Imagine. Act AS IF you already are and have what you want. The more time you put into creating it, the better you get, and the closer you get to actually having it. Practice, practice, practice!

Knowledge Is Useless Unless And Until You Put It Into Practice

When the going gets tough you get what you practice. You weather the storms better when you travel in advance of the world. You prepare for all events and circumstances by training and conditioning your responses. EMTs, firefighters all train to be ready.

Don’t expect any less of yourself. Commit to being the best. Don’t rely on magic, rely on you. YOU are much more likely to make it happen than wishing will make it happen. Practice success skills. Practice feeling happy and successful. Practice gratitude! Enjoy.

Be thankful. Practice positive thinking and attitude. Practice feeling joyful and enthused. Practice abundance. Feel abundance! Practice manifesting and creating. Make it happen. Practice getting along with others and support them. Practice listening and paying attention. Practice positivity. Practice focus. Practice speaking only to bless, heal and prosper. Practice celebrating! Practice feeling delighted! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

How To Be A Failure

For centuries, leaders have been trying to teach how to be a success. I decided to show you what leads to failure so that maybe, just maybe, you will stop doing that and change! Unsuccessful people, failures, do things differently than people who are successful.

They think crappy thoughts. Do you think negative; think like a loser? Don’t believe you can. Excuse, whine, accuse, blame others and the world around you for your situation. Crappy thoughts lead to crappy feelings. You feel bad then think more crappy thoughts.

It is a cycle. Crappy feelings don’t make you feel like doing anything. You are unmotivated so you take no constructive actions. No actions leads to no results or bad results. Bad results lead to more crappy thoughts and more crappy feelings and doing even less. It’s a cycle.

What Consumes Your Mind Controls Your Life

Bad thoughts lead to bad feelings, lead to bad actions, lead to bad results, lead to bad thoughts. The cycle perpetuates itself. IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT? If the answer is ‘no’ then you must start by changing your thinking. That IS the very FIRST step.

If you want your life to change you must change things in your life. You cannot continue doing the same things repeatedly and expect it to be different. That is crappy thinking. Your habits of thought, feeling and action define you. Your reality is created by you.

If you want to change, you change your thinking. Positive thoughts lead to positive feelings, which lead to positive actions, which lead to positive results. The cycle perpetuates itself. You have a choice. You have a decision to make each moment. Which cycle do you prefer?

You Become What You Think About Most Of The Time

Which one is your present reality? If it isn’t what you want decide to change it today. Begin reading and listening to positive, inspiring, motivational material. Recite affirmations. Visualize. Take an active approach to changing your thoughts. Take charge of your thinking.

Shift from the negative. Don’t repeat negative thoughts out loud. Stop telling stories to family and friends how things suck. Begin to think differently. Start thinking and saying, ‘I am not sure, yet, how it is going to work out but it will all work out for the best.’ It will!

DO things that make you feel good. Get a massage. Go for a walk, a swim, a movie. Enjoy a nice meal. HANG OUT with positive, inspiring, motivating, encouraging people. Take a seminar or workshop. Express your gratitude. All of this makes a difference.

What You Say Is What You Get – Change Your Self Talk And Story

If you keep doing what you always have you will continue to create what you already have. If it isn’t what you want that is a shame. There is no one who is doing it to you, but you. Right now you can change that. Start today. Be grateful! You can. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

If You’re Like Most People You Say You Are But You Probably Aren’t

“Most people will make this claim, yet, most people are not what they claim. They say they are, but they aren’t. This is the reason they don’t change, nor do they get what they want. In order to have the life you want to have, certain things are necessary.

You must do this! What is it? You must have a true willingness to change. Yup, people claim they are willing. They say they want changes. They want it different. When it comes right down to it they really aren’t willing to do whatever it takes to make it so?

Many are mostly unwilling. What about you? If you want things in your life to change you ACTUALLY have to change things in your life! What would you give up? What would you trade in exchange? Would you go a year without Facebook? Would you give up television?

If You Are Not Willing To Change – Don’t Expect Your Life To

What are you willing to do, to sacrifice, if you had to, to get the life of your dreams? What will you do to make you big goals and dreams a reality? Most people won’t do much when it comes right down to it. They are comfortable as it is, even while they complain about it!

It boils down to habit. What habits do you have that keep you the same? Most people don’t change their habits because they think it too hard. They try, but give up. Some succeed. You actually can! To succeed you need to put some skin in the game. Are you willing?

What do you need to do in order to get what you want most? The number one thing most people need to start with is to change their thinking? People need to develop the mindset that they can and will do anything positive to bring about good results they desire.

You Have To Be Willing To Leave Your Comfort Zone

They need to take responsibility for everything in their life. Why? Because once you take responsibility for everything it puts you in charge. If you created a mess, or something you don’t like, you can create what you want, too. You are doing it. No one else is.

That mindset helps you make the changes necessary to develop new habits. If I said, you can have the lifestyle you want, but it will cost you X, many people would say, ‘wow that is too much!’ The cost could be a money investment or giving up golfing on weekends.

Not forever, but until you have what you want. What do you continue to allow that gets in your way? When will you stop it from being a distraction? How soon will you decide you are willing to change and do whatever necessary to stop losing and start winning?

Stop Complaining About Things You Aren’t Willing To Change

A willingness to change means you are willing and you actually take charge and change things. If you change nothing, you get nothing. Still, this is what most do. They continue doing the same things, hoping it will be different. That IS the definition of insanity. It is!

Develop a positive mindset. Napoleon Hill called it THINK and grow rich. It truly is mostly a mental game. When your thinking is right on, your actions will be too. It isn’t about working harder, yet that is what most people think it’s about. Work smarter not harder!

Until you are truly willing to change your life will mostly remain the same. You have to leave your comfort zone and stretch yourself in new and different ways to make headway. This means you must develop new thinking, feeling and doing habits. Are you ready?

You Will Never Change Anything You Are Willing To Tolerate

If so begin. Begin assuming responsibility for everything in your life. No joke. You created it all. That is the mindset. Now begin creating what you want. Fill your mind each day with positive thoughts. Read, listen to positive material. Repeat affirmations. Visualize. Have fun.

Make it a point to enjoy what you already have, whether you have little or lots. BE grateful. Express your appreciation. This is really, the secret. It is all an energy game! When you are vibrating right, exuding the right energy, you are in the zone. It is about energy!

You make things happen when you are positive. When you are delighting and enjoying all of life you are closest to making all your dreams come true. Live in appreciation. Be grateful. What you think about you become. What you focus on expands. Delight in it all and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Experts Reveal: The Determining Factor Between Being Rich Or Poor

“What do successful or rich people do that gives them the edge? Most people, who are not successful and rich, don’t do this? That’s why there’s a difference between who succeeds and who doesn’t. There is a difference between the wealthy and those who aren’t.

Yup, it is mindset or attitude. It is the expectation the successful, or rich person has, that those who aren’t, do not have. Rich people expect to succeed. That’s it! It is that simple! Successful people expect to continue to succeed.  The believe in themselves!

They have confidence in their talents and abilities. They believe they can always find or create a way to have what they want. They know they can make it happen. They trust their ingenuity and creativity. They feel it with every fiber of their being. They FEEL it first!

Focus On Being A Blessing And You Will Always Be Blessed

It is the feeling and the mindset, the expectation or certainty, that they will be successful, that makes the difference. They take 100% responsibility for creating their future. They determine what they want and decide to go for it. They know THEY make it happen.

They are open and receptive to insights coming from anywhere. They trust their gut or intuition. They are receptive to unexpected good happening for them, because they know it will. They know! No matter how difficult the road, they will get there. They believe!

You can too. The rule is, if you want it, you have to go get it. You have to go first. You create it and make it happen. Your mindset is more important than your actions because your right mindset directs your actions. Hence, you work smarter not harder. Get it? You do it.

There Is Always Something Good Coming Soon – Remember This

You adjust and continue. You keep the faith. Open yourself up to some unexpected good. Be willing to be blessed beyond belief. Allow yourself to ‘act as if’ you already have all you desire and express how good that feels. Express your gratitude and you will create more good. Do it! Delight in all. This Couldn’t Be More Clear But I Bet You Missed It: Please Don’t

“I’d like to point something out that should be obvious but sometimes it is not. I am an actor and filmmaker. I wear many hats. I’ve spent most of my life speaking on personal transformation, enlightenment, NLP, whole brain learning and the Law Of Attraction.

I shouldn’t have to refer to acting or filmmaking in every post, for actors or filmmakers to understand the principles and approaches I share can be applied to them. They can use these personally and to advance their careers. These principles apply to all of us to use.

Whatever walk of life you are in, or from, you can use these materials to make it better for yourself and others. BUT, I get it. Sometimes, we are so focused on ourself, or career, we limit the opportunities around us. We don’t see clearly. We only see ‘IT’.

Be Present – Be Playful – Be Divine – Live Fully – Enjoy Life

When I was a young actor in Hollywood I hated weekends and holidays because I couldn’t pursue my career or craft. Most all my friends were ‘in the business.’ I didn’t have time for fun and frivolity, even relationships were dependent on career choices and moves.

The bottom line is my life was so ‘movie business’ I didn’t have much of a life. That isn’t what life is about. Life is way too short to be so preoccupied, that we haven’t time for anything else. I want to share something, again, with you Napoleon Hill said. I paraphrase.

He stated he had modeled 520 of the then richest people in the world. He knew them, spent time in their homes, knew their families and out of all 520, he stated, only one was happy! The rest were obsessed, families in chaos, kids screwed up. They were messes!

Playing Builds Brain Pathways For Creativity Flexibility And More

Some killed themselves, others turned to drugs and alcohol. Why? Because they weren’t balanced. They were greedy. They quested money to the exclusion of everything else. He points out, if you want it you can get it, but be careful of what or how much you want.

Hill said he suffered similar consequences. He wanted things money could bring him. Ultimately, he realized, and reported nearer the end of his life that peace, happiness, relationships were more important. He said, get rich that is fine, but don’t be so greedy it ruins you.

The same is true about actors, artists, lawyers, bankers, educators, laborers and people from every walk. Live a little. Love a lot. Laugh and have good times. Enjoy life as it is happening. Don’t put it off. Pursue your careers and passions but don’t get lost or fanatical.

Life Is Better When You Are Smiling And Laughing

Take time to enjoy each other. To notice how beautiful this world actually is. Travel. It doesn’t have to be far, or cost a lot. Take a walk. Go for a ride. See something that inspires you. Fall in love. Share good times with others. Have fun. Relax, too. Enjoy tiny moments.

Remember, living makes you a better artist. The director Elia Kazan said, if you want to be a better actor or director, you need to live more and experience as much as you can. You can’t only focus on your craft. You need to bring in things from the outside.

Much of the innovation in the world comes from outside the field of inquiry. For example, when Edison attempted making the light bulb, after a while, his insights came from how charcoal is made; coals smoldering under dirt. He realized, he needed a vacuum tube.

Have A Sweet Tongue Dirty Mind Playful Heart And Loving Soul

Frequently, people puzzling over problems take breaks, naps and illumination occurs to them, in the same way you remember a name or bit of information, by giving up trying to recall it. Later, it pops in. Cross pollination; ideas coming from multiple sources, melding.

Relax. Let go. Sing, dance, make love. Laugh, skip, explore. Talk over a beverage or a picnic. Spend time doing other things. Have hobbies and other interests. Make more friends and acquaintances. Volunteer somewhere. Help someone else.  Enjoy the silence.

Enjoy the sun. Bask in the rain. These posts are meant to encourage, inspire, inform, motivate, give practical tips or suggestions you can easily implement. They are for everyone! Anyone can utilize the information. If you don’t use it, it is only info. If you apply, it can be life changing! Use what you learn to make life sumptuous. Live and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Consider Your Family And Friends

“Just a reminder. Appreciate your family and your friends. Consider yourself blessed. Find a way to celebrate each person important to you. Love more. Laugh more. Share more together. One thing you can never get back is your time. Spend time with those you love.

You are fortunate if someone likes you. You are fortunate if you are loved. Give love freely. Allow others to like and love you. Receive it fully it. Expect the best of them. See the best in them. Respect, value, treasure them. Delight in them. This is just a reminder. Call someone.

Reach out connect. Count your blessings. Express your love and gratitude. Edify and uplift those around you. Smile more. Smile more at strangers, too. Be less afraid. Be more willing to look someone in the eye.  Speak truth directly with compassion and care. Be honest.

It Is Not About Having Time – It Is About Making Time 

Remember, you live in a world of people. Lend a hand. Be able to ask for help. Support others. Allow them to support you. Enjoy it. Enjoy them. Enjoy yourself and your relationships. Make more friends. Keep your family close. Treat them well. Celebrate! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Your Eyes Always Deceive You

“Your eyes will always deceive you. So will your ears. In fact, all of our senses deceive us on a regular basis. Still, people insist they will believe something only when they see it. This, is a sad state of affairs. Our neurology deceives us. Our brains see, our eyes really don’t.

We interpret what we see. The mind does the real seeing. We pay attention to limited amounts of information. Our brain filters much of the incoming data. We make associations and connect memories to what is going on. We miss much of what else may be there.

We have biases. We have habitual ways of noticing things and of missing things. What we pay attention to determines much of how things go. We can miss opportunities right in front of us because we are paying attention to something else at the time. What to do?

Expect The Best And Get It – Expectations Shape Your Results

If you want to see something, believe that you will. This is how it actually works. Expectations can shape our results. Expect it to be a good day, no matter what, and you are more likely to have one. Expect the best and you are more likely to find it. Believe it!

Things may come along that throw a wrench into the day, but if your expectation is that you can have a good one, no matter what, you can handle it, all will ultimately be fine, you are far more likely to. Your attitude determines what you pay attention to. Mindset matters.

Expect to be healthy, rich, loving and kind. Expect your best. Expect the best of others. Expect the best outcome in any situation and you are more likely to make that happen. You marshall your resources when you think positively and optimistically. Put yourself in charge.

Attitude Is Everything – You Get What You Focus On 

Believe miracles are possible and you are more apt to discover one. What you focus on expands. Energy flows where your attention goes. Manage your thoughts and your expectations. Believe everything always works out for the best. Believe in yourself.

Be thankful for the opportunities each day to discover how blessed you actually are. Count your blessings. Discover your blessings. The more you look and are grateful, the more you will find. Delight in all of it. Everything can be wonderful. It really can. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
