What Can You Do When Someone Shocks Or Disappoints You?

“My recent blog was, what you can do if you shock or disappoint yourself? This one, examines what you can do if someone else, perhaps a loved one or friend, shocks or disappoints you. Guess what? What you do  is really not that much different.

Stop. Take a deep breath. Let go. Sit with it. I know there is a tendency to blame the other person. It is a normal part of our prior conditioning to examine and complain about their behavior. We want to put it on them. Stop. This is an old habit pattern.

It is part of your brain’s ability to look for what is wrong. It looks for matches in our experience and finds what is wrong. Just stop. It won’t be easy. Shift  away from blame and complaining to neutral. Take a deep breath. As long as you blame, you continue in the habit.

Accept What Is Let Go Of What Was Have Faith In What Will Be

In order to get free, explore what happens in you. What were you expecting? What did you hope and want?  This is an opportunity for you to stop reacting and learn how to respond instead. Obviously, there is some trigger, some anchor in you that went off.

Whatever the catalyst, you reacted. Wouldn’t it be much nicer if regardless of the stimulus, you didn’t suck into it? The other does whatever they do and you remain centered, the eye of the hurricane. Examine this instead. What do they do that is a reflection of you?

Their behavior is a mirror of some aspect of you. Something you can let go of and change. Don’t blame yourself. Attempt to be open, available and don’t judge. Don’t judge or label them, what they do, yourself or, what you do as bad or wrong. It just is what it is.

Learn To Accept People For Who The Are – Let Go Stop Judging

Get it? You don’t want to over analyze this, either. You want to examine why you might react as you do. Whatever you find, let it go. Imagine how you can be free and how you would prefer to behave positively in the future. How could you respond differently?

How could you act more productively? How might you be more loving; compassionate? How might you be non-plussed and remain balanced? These thoughts help you to create a more wonderful future. Focus on what you want, not on the issues you have or had.

We’ll continue more the next blog. Meanwhile, find the blessings in your life and in your relationships. Delight in these. Accentuate the goodness. Focus on these blessings. Allow yourself to let gratitude well up inside you. Feel thankful. Celebrate everything!”Rex Sikes

“What Can You Do When You Shock Or Disappoint Yourself?

“What do you do when you shock or disappoint yourself? You plan for the best but somehow you behave the opposite. You argue when you try everything not to. You break a commitment. You hurt  a loved when and didn’t mean to. What to do? What can you do?

You stop. Take a deep breath. Let go and release. Do your best not to blame yourself or others. Don’t make excuses. Sit with it and reflect. You may not have an answer but somewhere there is some old conditioning rearing its head. It happens to us all. It really does.

Despite your best intentions and efforts you behaved counter to what you wanted to. You wanted a nice evening and it all went to hell. You hoped to enjoy the weekend but it became a disaster. It takes two to tango and you were party to it. What gives?

One’s Best Success Often Comes After One’s Worst Disaster

Some old habits die hard. Sometimes, crap happens. Life hands you lemons. That is just the way it is. I wouldn’t write too much into it. I would however, wonder what I might release to be different. I would really let go and just sit with it as much as possible without judging.

I wouldn’t discard it or be flippant in regard to it. I’d assume everything happens for a reason so that I can learn to be a better person. That somewhere I may have been harboring resentments, or issues, or ‘whatever’ that needed to come out. AND they did.

They may have come out when least expected. Bad timing, perhaps. What I am trying to get at is, crap happens. Don’t invest in it. Don’t judge or blame yourself or others. Don’t regret. Make corrections and apologies if you are able to. Don’t over analyze. Just be.

The Kite Rises Highest Against The Wind – Learn To Soar

It is what it is. What can you learn from it? How can you transform because of or in spite of it? How can you grow and evolve to be an even better person? Use it to learn how to be better now and in the future. There is no ultimate answer that I know of. It just is.

Find the blessing. Find the silver lining. That doesn’t mean you excuse your behavior if you were at fault, or if you did harm. It means learn, grow. Own up. Take 100% responsibility for your thoughts and actions. Don’t deny. Don’t ignore. But don’t wallow.

Don’t pity. Don’t berate. Don’t hate yourself. Forgive, love and accept that you are human and sometimes screw up. That’s what humans do. We are not perfect. We all make mistakes. Accept that you will continue to make mistakes, hopefully not the same ones.

There Is No Failure – Only Feedback – Don’t Beat Yourself Up

Mistakes are opportunities to get feedback, make corrections, adjust and improve. If you let someone down or violated their trust, if they allow you to make amends, then perhaps, you can. They may or may not forgive you. That’s up to them. You can forgive yourself.

You can forgive them. It doesn’t matter whether they know it or not. Forgive them for yourself, so you can let go if you harbor any ill will. Recognize that tomorrow will be another day. Who knows what it will bring. You fell down. Get up, dust off. Move forward.

Expect the best again. Don’t lose hope. Don’t give up because of an event. Stay the course. Get back on track. Shift away from the less than glorious and to the positive and productive. Focus what you want to create. Now, you know better what you want. Don’t you?

You’re Not A Finished Product – You Are A Work In Process

You know you didn’t want the ‘incident’. What is it you want instead? Phrase it in the positive. What good do you want? Focus on bringing that about even if you aren’t yet sure how. You know what you don’t want to happen. Now, turn your attention to what you do want.

Stop focusing on the event. You don’t want to give it energy and recreate it. You want to create something else. Put your energy and attention on what you do wish to create. For example, you had a fight but you want to get along. Don’t think about the fighting.

Imagine all the ways you can get along, all the wonderful, nice things, you can do to create rapport, trust and understanding. See yourself, feel yourself, behaving in loving way. Program your mind for what you want to include and leave what you don’t want, alone.

Be Thankful Even During The Trials – Celebrate Everything

I think this is how we remedy a bad situation. We look at it realistically. We sit with it a bit. We learn what we want, instead. We forgive and let it go. We put into practice making what we want a reality. From within to without. Our thoughts create our reality.

We celebrate the opportunity. Consider everything a blessing. We move forward. We choose to feel the best we can about what was a less than glorious situation. We transform ourselves by the renewing of our minds. I don’t have all the answers, but I hope this helps. From our learning we can celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

You Should Treat Yourself To Some Unconditional Love

“A good habit is to put on positive, inspirational and motivational audios whenever you are driving. It is a great opportunity to feel great, drive safe and learn something of value. Use your time wisely. I hope you enjoyed my audio blog in the last post.

If you haven’t yet listened, be sure to take some time. Today, why not focus on giving to yourself unconditionally. Gift yourself. Accept yourself. Shower yourself with love. Unconditional love. Feel it. Embrace it. You deserve it. If you don’t feel you do, you need it.

Forgive yourself, if you feel you must. Most people have conditions and limits on their love. We don’t have to, but we do. We grew up and learned to behave in certain ways. We learned to feel certain ways about ourselves. We believe ourselves to be certain ways.

Love Is The Absence Of Judgement – Unconditional Love Gives

It is time to let go of that previous conditioning. The way to do it is to treat yourself in loving ways. Be gentle. Be kind. Be open to who you are, and what you think and do, without judgement. Let go of your judgements. Most of them came from other people, anyway.

You are not your thoughts. You are not necessarily who you think you are. In reality you are awesome! You are a resourceful, intelligent, capable, powerful person. You may not have thought so but you are. You are a being of light and goodness. Accept it.

Let your light shine. Reveal yourself to yourself. Allow, accept, and receive yourself. Treat yourself special today. Do something nice for you. Think nice thoughts about yourself. Take yourself out for a good time, a special treat. Go first class if you are able. Treat yourself well.

The Measure Of Love Is To Love Without Measure  Unconditionally

Be glad. Be thankful you are who you are. Enjoy and feel lucky to be you.  Appreciate all of your experiences in shaping you. You have come a long way no matter how old or young. You are a person of great value. Love yourself without limitations. Celebrate yourself. Be filled with gratitude. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

“Perhaps, you didn’t know I am a director, producer and an actor. I have a Inet radio show/podcast Rex Sikes’ Movie Beat. Two years ago I canceled a show because my guest had to cancel last minute. I decided to share success tips anyone can use to get ahead.

There Is Nothing More Important You Can Do Than Learn To Control Your Thinking!

“The most important thing  you can do is learn how to control your thinking. Everything first begins with thought. Your actions and results originate from your thoughts and feelings. You can’t do anything more important than to learn to manage your thoughts.

From within to without. From inside your head to your hand is how creativity happens. It is how everything happens for us. Sadly, most people never take charge of their thinking so then never take charge of their lives. Napoleon Hill stated most people drift through life.

The secret to success is getting your mindset right. Develop an unshakable, unstoppable attitude that supports you in your positive endeavors. Remember this saying, ‘you get what you practice’. You get better at whatever you do through consistent right practice.

What Consumes Your Mind Controls Your Life – It’s Up To You

Yet, many never practice developing how they think. They remain victims of others, of events, of circumstances. They whine, blame and make excuses. Instead of taking responsibility for the life they have created they think it has happened to them. Lucky or not.

They hope and wish things were different, yet they spend their time in worry, fear and doubt. The hope it gets better but anticipate the worst. This is not a productive way to spend your time, is it? Another secret is to not be smaller than your problems but be to bigger.

Stop trying to avoid and eliminate problems. Instead evolve, work on yourself, make yourself larger than the issues. Become capable of finding solutions and resolving whatever comes your way. Whether you succeed in life or not is completely up to you. It really is!

I’m In Charge Of How I Think And Feel – I Choose To Be Happy

Take 100% responsibility for who you are, what you are doing, where you are in life and what you have. If you want it to be better, decide and determine to make it so. You absolutely can do this. You can begin to make an incredible difference for yourself. Get it?

Grow yourself up. Make yourself a champion. Put faith in you that you can and will do this. You see, it begins with your thoughts and whether you think you can or or you think you can’t. If you think you can’t, you absolutely must begin to learn how you can. Get it?

It isn’t that hard. It can be far easier than you might think it would be. However, nothing will change unless you take charge and make some changes. Practice positive thinking. Practice declaring and affirming who  you want to become and practice being that.

Every Thought We Think Is Creating Our Future – How Is Yours

Live it. Breathe it. Then, you will enjoy it. Your future is in your hands. Magical thinking means you put your faith and hope in outside forces. You hope and pray for things to change but do nothing to actually change. Realize, now YOU can change it all.

Begin today! Don’t wait. Start now. Right where you are. Decide to improve yourself. Decide to fill your mind with positive thoughts. Read inspired, positive books and articles. Affirm, declare, visualize. Listen to inspired audios. Keep a gratitude journal. Do it daily!

Otherwise nothing really changes. Manage you mind. Be the boss of your brain, not its servant. Be larger than your problems. In fact, you have no problems if you consider everything a learning opportunity and a blessing. Live in gratitude and your life improves. Practice thought management. Tony Robbins Is Wrong! Research Shows Positivity Affects Your Health

Does positivity help you to be healthy? What does research indicate? Can happy thoughts lead to a happy body? If it were true you could influence your health by thinking differently would you? John Hopkins University research indicates it makes a difference.

Filling your mind with happy, positive thoughts is a quick way to health. It may be the fastest road to good health. This is why it’s important to read positive materials, listen to positive audios, and think positively consistently. It helps keep you healthier.

This is why your daily rituals should include positive affirmations, visualization, hanging out with other positive people and making the effort to think and feel better. Tony Robbins is wrong, positive thinking is not thinking, ‘there are no weeds, there are no weeds’.

Go 24 Hours Without Complaining Notice How Your Life Improves

Positive thinking doesn’t mean you ignore less difficult situations. Positive thinking means that you approach circumstances in a more positive and productive way. You think or expect the best will happen, not the worst. You determine to make things work out.

The Mayo Clinic reported the maintaining positive thoughts and self talk leads to an increased life span, lower rates of depression and distress. It leads to greater resistance to colds, better psychological and physical well being and better cardiovascular  health .

It also helped people have better coping skills during times of stress and hardship. The Mayo Clinic suggested people learn to manage their self-talk. This is our inner auditory thoughts. Instead of getting down on ourself and life we manage our thinking to be the best.

Always Begin And End The Day With Positive Thoughts 

We can practice this and make positivity a habit. Whenever we become aware we are thinking or speaking silently or out loud less than gloriously we stop and correct it. Instead of saying, ‘I could never do that’ we switch it to, ‘I could do that.’

It is important that we believe our thoughts too so we may need to get there in steps. If you doubt you could do that you can work your way there by saying, ‘I could learn to do that. Given the opportunity I could begin to learn to do that. I can learn to do that.’ Get it?

‘I will learn to do that. I can do that’. It is up to you how you traverse this mental pathway but you select the thoughts that move you forward bit by bit. Positive thinking can be powerful and really make a difference for you in your life. Spend more time thinking good.

Positive Anything Is Better Than Negative Nothing – Be Positive

Then you will spend more time feeling good. A great way to think better is to appreciate more of yourself, life and those people, circumstances and things around you. Most of what makes us feel good and makes us truly rich are free; family, friends, the world.

Notice the beauty of the world, the taste of your food, the time spent having fun and express your gratitude for these. Spend more time thinking better, appreciating yourself and life and you’ll spend more time feeling good. That is reason enough to celebrate everything.” Rex Sikes

Never Let Yesterday Use Up Too Much Of Today

“Why do some people, perhaps you, seem to never get ahead? What is one of the biggest difficulties people face that prevents them from getting what they want? Where is it that most people put their attention? How come it doesn’t work the way you hope it will?

“Never let yesterday use up too much of today.”  Will Rogers said that and it is great advice. You cannot move forward looking back. You can’t drive your car forward looking only in the rearview mirror. Yet, that is what many people do. They try to get ahead looking back.

Be here now. Come to this moment. Live in the present, the here and now. Let go of what was. Honor it. Respect it. Learn from it. Forgive it. Make reparations if necessary and you are able to.  Accept it and then let it go. Drop it. Don’t let the past define you. Stop judging.

The More Grateful You Are The More Present You Become 

You are more than your past conditioning and experiences. Whatever your past was it is gone. Unless you continue to keep it alive.  Some of it was good. Maybe, some of it not so good. That is okay. Bring your attention to now. Let go of any, ‘if I had only…’

Stop living with regret. Stop living with shame. Stop being a survivor and start living fully. Cut the ties that bind and put your attention on this day. This moment, Right here. Right now. When you free yourself of looking back your energy is available to transform now.

Your now energy is available to look forward and create what you want  from this moment on. Look at what you can be grateful for right now. Celebrate your past as prior learning and lessons. Begin to celebrate now for all that is available to you. Be here and now.

Be Present In All Things Be Thankful For All Things – Live Now

Count your blessings. Be thankful. List your wins. List everything you appreciate. It can be small or large. It can be specific or vague. Just begin taking inventory of what you can be grateful for right this instant. Focus on these and notice how good it feels. Start living. Live fully. Find all the good Find the new. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
