Mindset Matters: How To Develop The Best Mindset!

“For some of us it is difficult to believe there is good in everything. For some, it seems there is just no good to go around. They think and experience life as difficult. For them, bad things happen. Perception is everything. There is also self-fulfilling prophecy. So heads up!

Consider this. Before humans walked the planet events came and went. Some days were gorgeous. Some filled with calamity. Whatever happened, happened. There was no one to label it, to judge it, to call it good or bad. Things occurred. What is IS.

Not judging is not the same as avoiding or ignoring. Things happen and require attention. It is the mindset one has, or uses, to go through it, that makes all the difference in the world. If it is a calamity we feel differently than if it is an annoyance.

Let Go – Relax – Drop It – Breath – Allow – Accept – Be Open

What we think and say determines how we feel and behave. If we think it ‘terrible’ we react from that mindset and from that set of emotions. If it is just another situation to discover opportunity and lessons, even if tough, we react or respond in another fashion.

When we label or judge less, when we don’t set ourselves up for the worst by calling it as such, we are more apt to be clear headed and resourceful. We don’t get overwhelmed with negative thoughts and emotions and are better equipped to resolve it positively. Get it?

Mindset determines how we approach the world around us. This is why Henry Ford said, ‘if you think you can or you think you can’t you are right!’ To behave and live more enjoyably, to experience more of the good life, we must see life as good first and enjoy it first.

If You Think You Can Or You Think You Can’t You Are Right

We get back what we put out. Concentrate on positivity and optimism. Focus on finding opportunity everywhere, even during adversity and you are more likely to discover it. Emphasize that which helps you think, feel and behave positively and powerfully.

Find blessings around you. Look at the abundance of all good things. Look for what is good. Seek to be filled with awe, and with appreciation and gratitude. Life changes, and so do you, when you activate your attitude. Learn to stop judging, let go, enjoy more and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

How To Understand And Utilize The Learning Curve

“Each person, the learner, needs to realize there is a learning curve. As you go through it you need to take time and relax. Enjoy the process of learning. You may be learning something you never knew or have done before. Be gentle on yourself. You are a newbie.

When learning adopt the attitude that it will be fun, there may be speed bumps but you can get over those easily. Stop pressuring yourself to be perfect doing something you never have before. Cut yourself some slack. Go easy. Stay with it. Play with it. Enjoy!

Whenever you do the correct things, repeatedly, consistently, for long enough, you begin to make that a habit. What I just described is the process of habit formation whether you intend to create one or not. Everyone of us has gone through this process infinite times.

The More We Do The More We Become Capable Of Doing

We develop the neural pathways of thought, feeling and behavior through repetition. Trying to stop a habit is difficult. Replacing one habit for another is much easier. It still requires the same process to learn the new habit so be patient. Be persistent. Relax and allow it.

When you go through the process of deliberately choosing a new mindset you’ll discover new ways of being opening up to you. When you first start the process of change all your former habits revolt attempting to keep you the same. It happens to everyone. Relax.

Recognize this and relax!  it is a good sign. It truly is. The barriers and walls and blocks will eventually crumble. The fact that they are fighting with you means you are on the precipice of change. There is the saying ‘old ways die hard’. They’ll fight. You’ll win if you persist.

Children Learn So Much More Through Play And Pretend

Stop responding the old way! Begin responding the new way. Yes, it takes commitment but it is worth it. It happens more quickly the more you accept the process. Don’t fight the process. Just stop! Negative thoughts or feelings will arise as you move forward.

Keep moving forward. Shift away from the negative. Focus on the positive. DO THOSE things that help you feel a bit better. Develop success habits. The only way you develop them is to do them over and over again until they become supportive reliable habits.

Keep the faith. Enjoy the process even when it isn’t enjoyable!! Think of it as  building your mind and will as you would build your body. Regular routine nutrition and exercise, long enough until you get the results you want. Then, it gets easier and is maintenance.

Notice It – Own It- Play With It – Stay With It – Make Learning Fun

Play with the things I’ve offered you. Begin by mastering the basics. That takes time. Yes, it takes commitment and effort. Nothing is free! If you want heat from the wood stove you need to cut the wood and put it in the stove and light the fire prior to getting heat.

So when you notice yourself thinking or feeling less than glorious, stop, breath and shift your thoughts and your physiology to something more productive and positive. Move, walk, sing, dance, smile. Think positive and keep thinking positive. Stay with this.

Stick with it. Keep at it. Let go and relax and have fun. I promise you IF you did nothing but made gratitude a habit and celebrated your life, moment to moment, most, if not all, issues would resolve, as if by magic. IT ISN’T magic. It is you doing it!

Only You Can Do It – No One Can Do Or Decide For You

The world may still hurl crap at you but you become different and learn to respond differently. SO stop thinking you need to get or be somewhere else. The destination is not the goal. Learning how to enjoy the journey right now, this moment, is the only goal you have.

Take care of the present and the rest will take care of itself. Live with passion and positivity. Enjoy this second. Celebrate it even when it seems hard. THAT is WHAT IS! That is the moment. You can enjoy it or choose not to, but that is what life offered right now. I suggest you transform yourself by leaning to celebrate. When you do YOU transform. So celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

The Old School Way Works Powerfully!

“Some readers may be old enough to recall a particular punishment or learning method applied when they were young and at school. You were told to write 100 times ‘I will not talk during class’. ‘I will not tease Sally.’ ‘I will not fight on the playground.’ Remember this?

If you ever had to write it out, most probably you will. Repetition is the very effective way we learn new behaviors, create habits and extinguish old, negative behaviors by replacing them. Repetition works wonders. It is proven to work, without question.

What is questionable are the instructions as listed above. We have known for many, many decades, that the brain does not process a negative but works only with affirmative commands. What do I mean? I mean the ‘not’ isn’t noticed in the sentence or command.

Don’t Think Of A Blue Elephant Wearing A Pink Hat

While we can understand what is intended and operate on it, it takes a few extra brain steps to do so. Think of it this way. If the brain ignores the word ‘not’ or ‘don’t what does it notice, remember and act on. Imagine this sentence, ‘Don’t forget your watch!’

If ‘don’t’ is eliminated or ignored, what is left? ‘Forget your watch!’ If you say, ‘I will not talk in class.’ What is remembered if ‘not’ is ignored? ‘I will talk in class’. You know you are not supposed to but what do you write 100 times over and over. ‘I will talk in class.’

That is not the complete sentence, but the ‘not’ is ignored. So, ‘I wont tease Sally.’ or ‘I won’t fight (or will not) fight during recess’ emphasizes the very behavior you want the child, or person, to eliminate or avoid doing. So what should they write instead?

Affirm What You Want – State It Positively – Focus Focus Focus

If you want them to do a particular behavior or learn something positively phrase it. Say or write, ‘I will remember to take my watch.’ ‘I will treat Sally nicely and with respect.’ ‘I will sit quietly and pay attention during class.’ ‘I will be friendly and play nice during recess.’

Get it? Affirm what you want and stop affirming what you do not want. State things in the positive. ‘I am confident.’ or ‘I am learning to be confident.’ Or ‘I am in the process of becoming more confident.’ Get it? Say what YOU WANT to manifest. BECAUSE…

Whatever you say is what you get! If you say, ‘This will be tough.’ you are setting yourself up for it to be difficult. If you say, ‘I have trouble remembering names,’ guess what you have difficulty with? Say what you want. Mean what you intend to mean. Drop negative phrasing.

You Are Where Your Thoughts Take You – You Create Your Reality

When you do so much becomes easier. You may say well, ‘That’s hard. I have difficulty phrasing things positively.’ Yes, in fact you do. You just said so. You affirmed and validated it. OKAY, so what if it is tough? Do you really want to stop there or would you like to change?

If you want to change, you could say, “It was difficult for me to think positively about myself but I am in the processes of learning to think powerful, positive new thoughts about me.’ ‘Each time I affirm that I am wonderful I begin to believe it a little bit more.’ Get it? Do it!

Start phrasing things, describing things, talking about and thinking about things in positive terms of what you want to create, make happen, manifest or attract. Eliminate that which you want to avoid, or eliminate. Get it? “Yes, I am beginning to understand this!’

Learn To Aim Your Thoughts And Language At What You Want

‘I am in the process of learning how to speak positively. I am beginning to speak only to bless, heal and prosper myself and others. I am learning to only discuss what I want to enjoy more of. I am in the process of discovering I create my reality by what I think and say.’

Get it? You can do this. Affirm what you want. Drop the rest. Look for the good and that which you can be grateful for and emphasize these things, people, and moments. Take the sting out of circumstances by deliberately choosing where and what to focus on. Look for the blessings and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Life Is Simple: Stop! Don’t Complicate It!

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated,” Confucius. Happiness researcher, Brett Ford from Cal State Berkeley states, “Part of the reason that wanting to be happy backfires in the U.S. is that people get down on themselves.”

Stop! Celebrate yourself! Stop getting down on yourself. Stop contributing to problems and start celebrating and having fun. If you want to be happy and you want to be happy ALL the time then you want to find something/s to be happy about ALL the time!

Practice gratitude! Look for the blessings everywhere, every moment. Discover what is good and new! Smile and laugh more. Any moment, every second. you can find and choose scores of things to be happy about. You just have to look. Then, look again. Find it!

The More We Do The More We Can Do – Celebrate And Enjoy

Develop your ability to scan for the good. STOP looking at the not so good and LOOK to the good! It is there. It may be hidden, but it is there. There is so much to be thankful for, but sadly, so many people miss it because they focus on what is wrong. Focus on what’s right.

From chaos stars are born. In adversity you can find  opportunity. No matter how bad things SEEM, you can always find something to be grateful about! Similar to the man complaining about not having  shoes. He stopped when he saw a man without legs. Get it?

YOU can ALWAYS find something that makes you smile and feel better about. You can ALWAYS find something, small or large to be happy about and grateful for. Concentrate on these things! THIS IS HOW YOU CHANGE! MAKE IT A HABIT and everything can become different! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Give To Live And Live To Give: It Is Miraculous

“A friend shared this quote recently. It is a powerful one. If you put this principle into practice it can immediately begin to transform your life and being. “Do the work that comes to you but don’t’ look for the results. Don’t be motivated by the fruits of your actions.”

I don’t know who the quote is attributed to but the principle is profound. Do good for the sake of doing good. Give for the sake of giving. Stop looking for return and do simply because you can and you want to. When you give, and give freely, miracles can happen.

You transform yourself when you give freely. When you do it for the joy of doing it, your inner joy is magnified and multiplied. There is a reason some say it is ‘better to give than to receive’. BOTH are important. It is important you can do both well. Be a great giver!

Go The Extra Mile – Go Beyond What Is Expected Of You

Be a great receiver. Stop denying and begin accepting.  But since this post is on giving, focus on giving. Go the extra mile. Do something nice and special for someone for no reason at all. Seek to make others smile and feel good. Always have a kind word or thought.

Share and give without any thought of benefiting yourself. Put your attention on benefiting others THEN you will discover the joy, bliss and blessings that come from doing without wanting. Most people want so much that they forget to let go of wanting and just live.

Live to the utmost. Help others do the same. As you do you release inner talents, abilities and resources you may not even be aware that you have. You get back from within you, even if you don’t get back from without. What you put out you get back. Give freely. Enjoy.

Givers Get – What Goes Around Comes Around – Give To Give

Delight in being able to make others feel better. When you do you will too. Help others find the good and new, the blessings, in all situations. Find the lessons within adversity and transform all situations. Delight in all things and your life will be incredible beyond anything you could ever imagine! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

The Past Doesn’t Matter But This Is Crucial!

“It doesn’t matter what you have done, or where you have been, or what has happened to you. The past is over and done with. If you are still carrying it around as baggage, drop it. Your future is not dependent on your past. It is only dependent on one small thing.

Your future isn’t dependent on how you grew up, what you did or didn’t have, your prior past conditioning, your mistakes or ‘failures’, you disappointments or heartbreak. None of it matters. The only thing that matters is what  you do next! What is your first next step?

If you want your life to change, you must change some things in your life. You can’t keep doing the same things over again and again and expect it to be different. Yet, that is what many people do. Stop that. Choose to be different! Choose to think, feel and act different.

If You Want Your Life To Change You Must Change Some Things 

Then begin. What you do next, following that decision, IS ALL that matters. Take the step. Commit to speak only to bless, heal and prosper yourself. Commit to thinking positive thoughts and shift away from the negative when you notice it. Get it? Take a step!

When you notice yourself feeling bad, shift from whatever you are thinking about. That ‘negative’ feeling is the signal to pay attention to. It is alerting you that you need to change your thoughts. Shift away from the negative thoughts and feelings to positive thoughts

Your thoughts determine your feelings. Change what you are thinking about and you change how you feel. You won’t feel differently continuing to thing the same thoughts. You must change them. When you do you can begin to feel different. Stop and change.

If You Really Want To Do Something You Will Find A Way

Like attracts like. Birds of a feather flock together. Neurons that fire together wire together. One negative thought produces or attracts another. Soon you will have a flock BUT one positive thought produces and attracts another positive. Soon you will have a flock.

All that matters is not what you have got, but what you do next, with awareness. Become aware of what isn’t work and shift from that to something better. Feeling down, make it a point to feel a little bit better. Take one step toward feeling better then keep on stepping.

Step by step you get there. Too many people want a BIG result and instant transformation and miss out. They wait for fireworks when instead transformation can begin in small ways and explode exponentially. 1% of change a day is 365% of change in a year.

It Is Never Too Late To Change Your Life – Begin Today

1% off on a rocket to the moon and that spaceship will miss the moon by millions and millions of miles. A small degree of change amounts to incredible results BUT ONLY when you instigate and follow through on that small degree. Do it daily, moment to moment.

Do nothing and get nothing. You will have what you always did. Change something, anything, for the better and you will begin to change everything. Drop by drop the tub fills. Put into practice small positive daily rituals that don’t seem like much. They are easy to do.

Keep doing them and you’ll get mountains of change. Everything can and will change, you just have to begin and follow through. Expect good results but you won’t see them for awhile. Seeds germinate under ground in darkness, you don’t see it happening right away.

You Eat An Elephant One Bite At A Time – But You Still Eat It

A seed takes time to sprout a plant takes time to bloom, but once it does blossoms abound. One plant can produce thousands of seeds. Expect good results and be patient. Have fun, take it easy. Do something and make it routine. Find the blessings and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

How To Pursue Your Goals And Not Be Attached

“How do you live without desire? How do you reconcile this concept with Napoleon Hill’s principle that one must have a burning white hot desire or obsession for accomplishing one’s goals in order to achieve them. Conceive, desire, believe, persist, and achieve.

Here is how you do it. You do everything Napoleon Hill suggested you do. You develop the mindset, the attitude, the faith that you WILL, come what may, or no matter what, achieve your goal and fulfill your destiny. You will live your vision. You work it and persist.

However, how it unfolds, what it ultimately looks like you are not wedded to. You do whatever it positively takes without harming yourself or others, no stepping on toes, with faith that it will happen and let go of how it actually happens. That is not within your control.

Relax  Let Go  Enjoy  Delight Appreciate  Accept Celebrate 

This is where you give it over to the ‘universe’ to accomplish it. This is why you can confidently say, ‘I will be X, I don’t know how I will but I will be and I am glad.’ You allow anything to happen along the way and you adjust and continue without attachment or judgement.

You know in your heart that it will be whatever it will be and that everything will, because it always does, work out for the best. You don’t get caught in the details. You continue optimistically without getting hooked or caught up. You enjoy the journey each moment.

No matter what happens it is what it is. Everything is a blessing even opposition, hardship, challenge, obstacles and temporary defeat. It is all part of the adventure and you are a willing and able an explore with a positive mindset. You do what you can and you let go!

Life Is Available Only In The Present Moment – Live Each Moment

Get it? You don’t try to control things you simply do things. The results you get are always feedback. If it didn’t work you do somethings. You fail forward and learn from it, adjust and go happily on your way, having learned, having changed, having been blessed.

When everything all along the way is a blessing, no matter what it is, you live happier and healthier. You take the feedback and go on. Your attitude is aligned and congruent with who you are and what you are doing. You live in the moment. You allow each moment its magic.

Live Without Desire! Let Go Of Attachments: Be Free

“Most people do not understand what non-attachment is or means. You do NOT have to give anything up, give anything away or be austere to live without attachment. One may pursue goals, dreams, fame and riches while being unattached. You do without attachment.

Many ‘meditators’ miss the point and seek to be unattached. They want no-attachment as much as others want anything. They desire to be un-attached. They miss and are attached to being unattached. To live in non-attachment is to celebrate everything. Be carefree!

Simply recognize that what is, is. Accept it. What is, is and celebrate it.  Be grateful. Live in appreciation. Live this moment! Live without judgement and comparison. Suffering comes from comparing with others, or comparing  where you are to where you want to be.

The Root Of Suffering Is Attachment – Let Go – Be Free 

Stop comparing. Start celebrating where you are right now. Be glad. You are on a journey. It doesn’t matter where you are on the journey, unless of course you make where you are important. If you do that you suffer. When you stop comparing you can find bliss. Blessings!

You can go with the flow in a canoe and still steer the canoe. It doesn’t mean you helplessly drift. You act but whatever the outcome, is the outcome. You understand that. You can adjust and continue. You simply are not emotionally attached to the outcome.

All is good. All is learning. Anything is possible. Celebrate it! We don’t know what comes next. So stay open for whatever might come. You might fear the worst and it could be far better than you imagine. You just don’t know. So stop thinking you do. Let it all go and be!

You Get There By Realizing You Are Already There

We don’t know what we don’t know. It isn’t over until it is over. So don’t render a judgement about whether the outcome is good or bad. It simply is. Get it? Everything is a blessing. Everything is an opportunity. We don’t know how things will unfold so there is no reason to get upset. Let it go. Be grateful and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

You Live Within Infinite Possibilities And Opportunities!

“Consider this: Research indicates we live inside our perceptions, our thoughts and dreams. What we expect frequently comes to pass. Self-fulfilling prophecy happens. We either do or don’t do based on whether we think we can or not. Believing determines seeing!

Chairs didn’t exist  util someone thought one up. Any human creation we enjoy in the world first originated in thought. Whether from need or pleasure we make thoughts. Then we can make thoughts into things. This isn’t even in dispute. We are creators.

Hence, we have unlimited possibilities available to us at all times. It is only a matter of how big we dream, how often we dream and whether we care enough to translate those dreams into reality. Anything is possible if we believe it is. No, I’m not talking nonsense.

What You Can Conceive and Believe You Can Achieve

All of human kind has benefited, and suffered, at the hands of dreamers. People with a vision have created awesome, wonderful things as well as terrible, inhuman things, all by translating their thoughts into action; by believing they could and would. They did.

Opportunities abound endlessly around us and within us. We only need to open our eyes, get out of our way, bypass our limitations and create what we want to create. Many of us are good at creating a mess. Don’t you think it is time you learned how to create beauty?

You can and you will when you apply AND master basic principles that have been with us since the dawn of human kind. When you do so many doors open up. Your brain and you, your mind and thoughts, feelings and actions, work together congruently to get results.
