The Old School Way Works Powerfully!

“Some readers may be old enough to recall a particular punishment or learning method applied when they were young and at school. You were told to write 100 times ‘I will not talk during class’. ‘I will not tease Sally.’ ‘I will not fight on the playground.’ Remember this?

If you ever had to write it out, most probably you will. Repetition is the very effective way we learn new behaviors, create habits and extinguish old, negative behaviors by replacing them. Repetition works wonders. It is proven to work, without question.

What is questionable are the instructions as listed above. We have known for many, many decades, that the brain does not process a negative but works only with affirmative commands. What do I mean? I mean the ‘not’ isn’t noticed in the sentence or command.

Don’t Think Of A Blue Elephant Wearing A Pink Hat

While we can understand what is intended and operate on it, it takes a few extra brain steps to do so. Think of it this way. If the brain ignores the word ‘not’ or ‘don’t what does it notice, remember and act on. Imagine this sentence, ‘Don’t forget your watch!’

If ‘don’t’ is eliminated or ignored, what is left? ‘Forget your watch!’ If you say, ‘I will not talk in class.’ What is remembered if ‘not’ is ignored? ‘I will talk in class’. You know you are not supposed to but what do you write 100 times over and over. ‘I will talk in class.’

That is not the complete sentence, but the ‘not’ is ignored. So, ‘I wont tease Sally.’ or ‘I won’t fight (or will not) fight during recess’ emphasizes the very behavior you want the child, or person, to eliminate or avoid doing. So what should they write instead?

Affirm What You Want – State It Positively – Focus Focus Focus

If you want them to do a particular behavior or learn something positively phrase it. Say or write, ‘I will remember to take my watch.’ ‘I will treat Sally nicely and with respect.’ ‘I will sit quietly and pay attention during class.’ ‘I will be friendly and play nice during recess.’

Get it? Affirm what you want and stop affirming what you do not want. State things in the positive. ‘I am confident.’ or ‘I am learning to be confident.’ Or ‘I am in the process of becoming more confident.’ Get it? Say what YOU WANT to manifest. BECAUSE…

Whatever you say is what you get! If you say, ‘This will be tough.’ you are setting yourself up for it to be difficult. If you say, ‘I have trouble remembering names,’ guess what you have difficulty with? Say what you want. Mean what you intend to mean. Drop negative phrasing.

You Are Where Your Thoughts Take You – You Create Your Reality

When you do so much becomes easier. You may say well, ‘That’s hard. I have difficulty phrasing things positively.’ Yes, in fact you do. You just said so. You affirmed and validated it. OKAY, so what if it is tough? Do you really want to stop there or would you like to change?

If you want to change, you could say, “It was difficult for me to think positively about myself but I am in the processes of learning to think powerful, positive new thoughts about me.’ ‘Each time I affirm that I am wonderful I begin to believe it a little bit more.’ Get it? Do it!

Start phrasing things, describing things, talking about and thinking about things in positive terms of what you want to create, make happen, manifest or attract. Eliminate that which you want to avoid, or eliminate. Get it? “Yes, I am beginning to understand this!’

Learn To Aim Your Thoughts And Language At What You Want

‘I am in the process of learning how to speak positively. I am beginning to speak only to bless, heal and prosper myself and others. I am learning to only discuss what I want to enjoy more of. I am in the process of discovering I create my reality by what I think and say.’

Get it? You can do this. Affirm what you want. Drop the rest. Look for the good and that which you can be grateful for and emphasize these things, people, and moments. Take the sting out of circumstances by deliberately choosing where and what to focus on. Look for the blessings and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

You Can Only Think One Thought At A Time!

According to research we can only think one thought at a time. One thought at a time! Get it? So if you are thinking a positive, happy, good thought you CANNOT think a negative, less than glorious, bad thought at the same time. It is impossible! Get that? It’s important!

If you want to be happy all the time, then think happy thoughts all the time. Choose what you think about! Our thoughts regulate our brain chemistry. Think a negative thought and you are more likely to think another negative thought and feel negative. It works this way.

HOWEVER, think a positive thought and you are more likely to think another positive thought and feel positive! Our brain can’t tell the difference between the outer world and what we are thinking in our head. It accepts both as the same. Get it? It responds the same way!

You Become What You Think About Most Often

This is why we physiologically respond to a real fear or an imagined one. That is why mental imagery and suggestion can sexually arouse us in the absence of any real world stimuli. It all happens in our head and body. Get it? We get what we focus on. It literally expands!

Put your attention, lock your focus, on the glorious, the good, the positive, the happy and you inner mechanism will electro-chemically respond by enhancing your levels of dopamine, oxytocin and serotonin, which causes us feelings of well-being. It works this way!

Our internal electro-chemistry creates our feelings of satisfaction, contentment and/or happiness. Think happy and you will feel happy! As you feel happy you will think happy! It is a positive feedback loop. BUT think negative and you can go into a negative feedback loop.

Thoughts Lead To Feelings Lead To Behaviors Lead To Results

To stop the negative you need to stop! Take a break! Use your body, breath, smile, laugh, do anything else! Shift your attention to a happy thought. Remember, you can only think one thought at a time! SO change it from less than glorious to glorious. Get it? DO IT! It works!

Then choose another happy thought. Lock your concentration on the positive. Energy flows where your attention goes. AS you continue to pay attention to happy thoughts you feel happy and it gets easier and easy. Keep doing it and make it a habit! Get it?

You create the momentum. Whenever you are not feeling good, interrupt it, stop and shift! Then put, and keep, your attention on the positive. The more you do it the easier it gets to do it. Soon, if you keep at it, you will develop a positive supportive habit that you can keep for the rest of your life! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Write Out Your Affirmations This Way!

“One of the best things you can do daily is to write out your affirmations by hand. Use pen and paper. Every morning, as part of your daily ritual, write down the affirmations you are working on. Word them the same each day. Repeat daily and keep doing this.

THIS is a powerful way to communicate with your subconscious and get it to accept the beliefs you are working on. Use present tense when writing. ‘I am magnificent’. If you can’t yet believe that, then write out, ‘I am in the process of learning I am magnificent!’

Or, ‘I am beginning to learn how truly magnificent I am’. Writing these down helps you to more fully imagine your desire and wires it in by using your body. It is not just imagined visually or spoken words but physically wired it in. Always feel enthused while you’re doing it.

The More We Do The More We Are Able To Do

When on the road, driving safely, you can shout and chant and sing your affirmations powerfully. The more emotion you infuse them with the more powerful they become. Our emotions drive everything. So use your most joyous and powerful emotions to do it.

Have fun. Make it daily practice. First thing in morning, along with your other morning practices, is a great time to feed your mind. Do your rituals at the same time each day. Make it a sacred practice.  Enjoy the process! You can also do it any other time during the day and before bed. Feel wonderful! Feel grateful! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Why You Should Use Affirmations

“We use affirmations to fill our mind with the thoughts we want to think on an automatic and habitual basis. We condition the mind with affirmations so we get back from our mind what we put into it, whenever we need to. Automatically and reliably! It is habit.

We make positive statements so when the going gets tough we get the benefits of our positive thinking. Just as you harvest the fruits of the seeds you planted earlier. Saying affirmations is the planting of seeds. The results you get in life are the results of your sowing.

The bottom line is you want to create positive thought habits because many of the thought habits you acquired during the growing process were not positive but limiting. Years of less than optimal programming filled the mind. Affirmations replace that!

I Believe In Myself And My Abilities – I Have Unlimited Potential

Affirmations are the new programming and the new programming instructions for how you choose to now live your life. You decide. you affirm it , you make it happen. Affirmations are the gas in your vehicle. They provide the necessary mental rocket fuel to take off.

What most people don’t understand correctly, is we already use affirmations to great effect to get exactly what we don’t want. Consider worry as negative planning. How we think and speak on a routine basis creates our experience. We live from our thoughts.

More about this in the next blog. For now. Practice affirmations daily. Put them to work for you as suggested in the last blog. Focus on things you are grateful for and create a daily list. Some Useful Secrets To Powerful Transformative Affirmations

“People ask me what affirmations are good to use. They ask me what I use. The most powerful are, anything that follows ‘I am’ in present tense. Such as, ‘I am confident. I am loving. I am rich. I am intelligent. I am healthy.’ Phrase it as if it is currently the case. You’re it, right now.

It is simple! Most important are the feelings you say the affirmations with. Even more important than the words are the emotions behind the words. So say them with conviction, passion, enthusiasm, confidence and joy. That is what is truly important. I promise you!

If you feel nagging doubt when you say the affirmation there are two things you should know. One, you may be comparing where you are to where you want to be, and notice the difference, and  feel less than glorious. Stop that! Focus on what you want, as if it is reality.

Whatever You Focus On – Talk – Read -Think About – You Create

Two, anytime you seek to make a change your brain, attempting to keep you safe and the same, will throw doubt, worry, fear, limiting beliefs and negative thoughts at you, to attempt to keep you from changing. It is why most people abandon the pursuit. Stop it.

Don’t let a thought prevent you from doing something good and positive for yourself and others. Stop listening. Put your attention elsewhere. Say, ‘thanks for sharing  but I go this covered. I’m going to go ahead and be rich, health, intelligent and loving anyway. Thanks!’

Don’t fight it. Work with it. Accept it and divert it. Use the phrase I just gave you. Take a break. Go for a walk. Take some deep breaths. Jump up and down. Interrupt the pattern when it fires off by doing something else. Anything else! Just be safe about it. It works.

When You Affirm You Imagine – If You Imagine – You Can Create 

If it just won’t seem to go away, and IF you repeat your affirmation with conviction consistently, EVERY day, IT WILL. But, in the event you can’t see your way through it, and make the changes for yourself, you can always ask a question or place yourself in a learning process.

You can say, ‘I wonder how soon before I feel really healthy. I wonder how soon before I realize how truly rich I am. How quickly can I discover it is easy to feel confident.’ This is an aspect of using my Directed Questions™ approach. Another aspect of it, is this.

‘I am in the process of getting really, really healthy. I am learning how to appreciate how rich I am. I am in the process of learning to be delightfully confident in the appropriate situations’ Get it. You direct your mind gently without setting up any conflict. You’re in process.

If It Is To Be It Is Up To Me – Accept Responsibility And Do It

Of course, the wise person will realize you can do both and blend them. So I hope you will. What follows are a few of the affirmations I use morning, before bed and throughout the day. You can  use affirmations from others, but it is best if you create your own.

‘I love my life. I am blessed. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Everything always works out for the best for me. Unexpected good always comes my way. I don’t know how, but everything always works out and I am grateful. Thank you. Thank you Thank you!’

Well, there you have some tips and some affirmations. Put it into daily regular use and you will transform your life and experience. Do nothing with it, and nothing much may change. It is the application of knowledge that is transformative, not the knowledge, itself. Get it? Do it! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

You’ll Keep Getting Crap Magnet Results Until You Learn This!

“Some people have difficulty making affirmations work. They just don’t do it correctly. Then they give up. There’s a way to make it work. When you do you can expect wonderful and powerful results.  It can be incredible! I wrote an article about this many years ago.

I was one of those who had difficulty. I tried many times and quit many times. In 1980 I developed a method, Directed Questions™ that skyrockets the power of affirmations and results one gets. Since then, a number of people have re-published aspects of my work.

They’ve had good success, too. However, those I’ve seen missed the heart of my work for getting the most benefit from the process. Questions are incredible. They work amazingly well. I use both. I write about both, usually at different times, for different reasons.

Everything Remains The Same If You Don’t Control Your Mind

I use both. Sometimes you want to go around blocks that have stopped you. Other times you want to power through blocks. You learn different things by doing different things. There is a reason for learning both. Everything can work. I use both for greater effect.

Sadly, most people affirm negative things. They get things they don’t want! Worry is negative planning. Many people ask wrong questions and get disastrous results. It is important to know the right way of doing things. That’s why I write about each. Get it? You can learn it.

You must learn how to take control of your mind and your mental habits, if you want to make yourself and your life better. You must change some things, if you want things to change. It won’t happen if you do nothing. You remain the same. Start acting in your own best interest. Learn how to do things. Practice gratitude and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

How Much Must I Do?

“What do I have to do to make my situation better? Not only, what must I do, but how much must I do? How do I gear up my mindset to take actions? How do I get solutions to my problems? What must I do to make a difference in my life? What will help me change it?

Quality and quantity are important. They make a difference. Passion, energy, enthusiasm and positive feelings drive the mechanism that makes affirmations work. So have fun with the affirmations! Chant them, sing them, say them with energy! This IS crucial! It works.

Be adamant, be happy, be thrilled when you speak and think them. The feelings reinforce the statements. It is not the words as the much as it is the feeling and energy behind the words. Feelings are the driver. Your subconscious pays attention to feelings!

Drop By Drop The Tub Fills – What You Focus On Expands

Feelings are the signal to you and to your subconscious mind signal. Feelings are the message. Positivity is a choice! Train your mind to see the good in all situations, rather than emphasize the bad. Bad circumstances may persist but you emphasize the good.

This is how you find solutions. You don’t ignore what is wrong, and won’t work. You put your attention on what is right, and what you can do. You don’t ignore, you notice and shift. You select what to pay attention to. When you feel right inside you make better decisions.

You take the right actions. Don’t concern yourself with what to do. First, concern yourself with what to think and feel. Think and feel  the best you can.  When you select affirmations look for examples in your everyday life. Look at how things are good. Focus on these.

The More We Do The More We Are Able To Do – You Become It

Find abundance all around! Look for smiles, positivity and enjoyment. Find people and things you’re grateful for.  Focus on these. Be thankful.  Appreciate what you have. Quality matters. So does quantity, So the more you are positive and grateful the better it all becomes. Every bit helps. Celebrate everything! Rex Sikes

How Your Self Talk Affects You Good And Bad!

“Happiness is a left brain function. It is directly tied to what you say to yourself on the inside. Speech is left brain, too. We’re as happy as our self talk is happy and positive. We’re as happy as our thoughts and pictures. We’re as happy as the story we routinely tell ourselves.

We think in pictures more than words. ‘A picture is worth 1000 words’. We make pictures, both inside and outside of our awareness, and describe those images. We also describe what we experience and make internal images.  Words bridge the inner and the outer.

That’s why we create what we think and speak. Importance has been given to our words as a creative force from ancient times. Words are used to describe our mental blueprints. We translate an idea into action, for ourselves and for others, through the words we choose.

What You Say Is What You Get – Control Your Self Talk

The stories we tell ourselves are important. They affect us! We need to tell ourselves better stories if we want our lives to improve. We need to speak more kindly to ourselves, silently and out loud. We need to monitor and improve our self talk, and our talk to others.

You bring about what you think about. What you focus on expands. What you see, say and feel IS what you get. You either reinforce the crap in your life by your thoughts, words and deeds or you make things better by your thoughts, words and deeds. It’s mindset first!

If you’re feeling crappy you’re imagining things as crappy. You’re seeing crappy things inside and out AND saying crappy things to yourself and others. That’s why you feel crappy. You deserve better! You can change all that, by changing what you’re doing inside!

What You See Is What You Get – Visualize Only Positive Good

When you do have positive, mental images and nurturing self talk you feel good. Positive feelings arise. You can also create positive feelings, by making positive mental images and self talk, deliberately. This is called visualization and affirmations. See, speak and hear!

Every day, deliberately imagine what you want for yourself. Imagine the good you desire, as if you already have it. Affirm and declare it with words and your physical energy. Feel it, Be passionate and emotional about it. Enjoy it! Be thrilled and eager. Savor it!

Command yourself to be who and what you want to be. Imagine and feel that. Every day, see it. Command yourself to become that. Affirm that you are it. Declare it done! On the inside, live it. Make it real. Walk it about, live it in daily life. Act as if. Imagine fully. Get it?

What You Feel Is What You Get – Feel Your Best – Act As If

Repeated visualizing and affirming get your mind to work for you instead of you working for it. Make things happen. Get control over those words you already are saying to yourself. Stop talking about what you don’t want. Only affirm what you DO want to reinforce.

PAY ATTENTION to your words. Speak ONLY to bless, heal and prosper. Make them positive. The words you use are powerful, so use them wisely. Use everything you have in a positive and powerful way. Practice gratitude. Be delighted in the process and your progress. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

That One Or Two PerCent!

“You are the creator of your life. Mindset determines what you create. You create based on your thoughts and your feelings. Your actions matter. They are important but not as important as you might think. The key is to work smarter not harder. It’s important.

Many people are busy but not productive. They confuse activity with accomplishment. This is because they focus in the wrong area. They focus on how to do things and what to do rather than the mindset that gives rise to the right, inspired actions. You must get this!

Actions matter not as much as your thoughts, attitude or mindset. Your thoughts and mindset pave the way. It is hard for people to grasp this concept. Your mindset is 98-99% what you need to focus on. Your actions are the 1 or 2% that you do. Pay attention to this.

Your Attitude Determines Your Direction And Your Altitude

What you think creates how you feel. How you feel determines what you think and your actions. What you think, feel and do create your results. The starting point of your results is your thinking. Your mindset. Get that right and the rest falls into place. Get it?

Your mindset is the cause. The results are the effect. Get it, cause and effect? Sadly, when things don’t go right, most people start trying to change the results. They try to change the effect. They get preoccupied with what isn’t working and what to do next. 

Instead of being focused on the effect, you must work on the cause. You must improve the mindset that determines your feelings, actions and therefore your results.  Positive feelings stem from positive thoughts. To change your results change your thinking!

To Guarantee Success Act As If It Were Impossible To Fail

Get it? More positive thoughts stem from the positive feelings. When those are correctly aligned you take inspired action. The actions feel right because they stem from right thinking and great feeling. Actions for action sake doesn’t get you anywhere.

There’s being productive, then there’s being preoccupied. It’s not what you do, it’s what you think and feel that determines how far you go. That’s why Napoleon Hill titled his book, ‘THINK and Grow Rich’, not Work Harder and Grow Rich. Mindset matters most!

This is why I keep suggesting you read and listen to audios. Attend events, live and online. Hang out with mentors, coaches and positive people. Do daily affirmations and visualization. Keep a success journal and practice gratitude. Get the mindset right so you succeed.

Do these things repeatedly, long enough, consistently and then your actions will matter. They will increase the likelihood of your success. You’ll be surprised with the results you will be getting. Actually, you won’t be surprised at all, because you will deliberately create them. Do you get that? Be thankful and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

What You Need To Know About The Dark Times!

“Darkness is necessary for growth, as is sunlight. Everything has a season. Tides come in and go out. Life changes. People change. Nothing is written in stone.  It is all physical, mental and emotional processes. Process implies movement and movement is change.

Never give up. Even if you did nothing at all, ever, you would change. That is nature. That is the nature of life. Everything changes given enough time. Nothing is permanent. Everything is in flux at some level. You may or may not notice it but everything moves. Atoms.

Thoughts are simply those things you think. They are not you. They are something you do from habit. You may not like the thoughts you think much of the time. You may not like the results of your thinking. Still, habits can be changed. You can change your thinking! You!

Energy Isn’t Created Or Destroyed – Energy Is Transformed

Take control. It can be instantaneous, mostly it is by step by step. You change inch by inch, foot by foot, yard by yard, mile by mile. It is incremental. It seems slow at first but it gets faster as you go along. The more you do, the more you are able to do, and more easily.

You get better at it. So, know this: you can, and will, always get through, and beyond, any troubling issue. It may not seem like it but you can, if you decide to. It is difficult to see connections projecting forward. You can’t. You can only connect the dots looking back.

You can’t connect dots looking forward. Moving forward you need to decide, plan, take action and move. You go a far as you can see and when you get there you can see farther. Looking back, you may find the meaning of troubling situations BUT, in reality, all are blessings.

Focus On What You Have To Gain – Not On What You Give Up

Learn to practice gratitude for the past. Be grateful for every bit, all past. You may say, ‘but, but’. BUT do it. Learn to appreciate all the hard, dark, even terrible moments. You got through them. That was then. What did you, what could you, learn from the past?

It is no longer! Don’t carry the baggage from the past. Look back and see it how it brought you to now, this moment, where you can change your thoughts about it, and transform your life for the better. Feel gratitude for the past. Be thankful for the present, this moment.

Feel blessed for all of it, then and now; every moment, person, event and circumstance. Expect to be blessed in the future. Unexpected good will come your way, Feel gratitude for the future. You will be different. That moment passed, this moment, too will pass.

If You Want All Things To Change Faster – Change Yourself

You will always land on your feet. Expect to. Expect unexpected good. Realize, it mostly goes how you think it will; what you think it is. It becomes what you say it is; how you define it determines what you pay attention to. It is the gospel according to you. It’s yours!

What you focus on, you get. Thoughts are things. Still, you can change from negative to positive. You never have to remain stuck. Things change! Learn to think differently about anything. You can learn to feel differently, too. It is whether or not you choose to.

Moving your body, changing your physiology changes your mental and emotional state.  Exercise and hard physical work has been prescribed for depression and anxiety since ancient times. Everything can change, if you are willing. You can make it better.

Whether You Think You Can Or You Think You Can’t You’re Right 

Move, go for a walk. Change your thinking. Focus on what you want, not on the problems. Practice gratitude. Feel the gratitude. Stay with it. Focus on it, again and again. Read inspiring materials. Surround yourself with positive people and messages. Affirm your power and visualize the good, again and again. It gets better! Especially, when you celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
