To Get Stellar Results Discover Your Power Is To Choose!

My life transformed. Part 5. I learned that regardless of what was going on I could decide how to feel and think about it. I was the one in charge. Just be cause bad things happened I didn’t have to chose to be unhappy. I had lived that way for years, without choice.

Now, I began to exercise my choices. When I became the person who chose what to think and feel, everything changed for me. I was clearer in my thinking, I enjoyed each moment more. I found more delight in simple things. I felt better. I was open to more things.

I discovered opportunities I might not have otherwise. I met new people and engaged in new activities. It was as if a whole new world opened up. It was absolutely worth it to begin this process. It is a journey. Beginning it changed everything. It kept getting better!

Imagination Is More Important Than Knowledge

It all begins with awareness and choice. I became aware that things weren’t working, that they hadn’t been working, and decided I needed to change. I chose to implement a daily ritual which was centered on awareness, choice and shifting from neg to positive.

Everything begins this way. There is magnificent power in becoming aware and making a decision. A decision is a choice I committed to making work. I decided, do or die, I would do this and see it through. In that instant everything began changing. And keeps getting better.

Everything has changed for the better. Speed bumps along the way have been blessings because I chose to look at them this way. As I did I noticed things I would have never noticed and became capable of living in ways I never ever had before. It became glorious. Freeing!

What You Can Conceive And Believe You Can Achieve

Anyone can do this. Anyone, even you, can begin right now! I’ll share more next time, but realize to not decide, is to already have made a decision. Choose life over death. Choose positivity over negativity. Choose awareness. Choose to take control and make your life grand!

Everything changes and gets better and better when you do. Choose to look at everything as a blessing. Choose to find the lesson and opportunity in adversity. Choose to realize all hardship is only temporary. Choose to find the good. Choose to celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

These Changes You Can Make Will Create An Incredible Difference!

“Some day I will take another form whatever that may be. I will no longer walk the planet. I won’t be around to comment on whether events are good or bad, right or wrong. They will go on without my commentary or criticism. Just as they did before I arrived here.

Since that’s the case why should I waste my time judging now? Isn’t there a better, a wiser, use of my time? Wouldn’t I be better off not digging in despair whether the events are personal or global? Life is short. Instead of labeling events good or bad, is there another way?

Life is way, way too short, as far as I am concerned, so I want to find a way to maximize the little time on the globe as best I can. Years ago, I decided that if I was going to live on the planet I deserved to live in paradise. Whatever the situation is I wanted it to be paradise.

Life Is Too Short Not To Enjoy It And Celebrate Everything

I found, when I told others this, many said it was not possible given the world and current state of affairs. They’d say things like, ‘well there will always be suffering’. They said many things and I heard from many people through the years.

Their attitude seemed to be, ‘ life is short, you struggle, try to be happy live a good life, hurt no one and die. Then hope there is an afterlife and that you may be rewarded’. I knew this is not the way I want to go through my days. If they wished to that was up to them.

Not I. It took me some time, a lot of time actually, but one day I decided to decide how I wanted to think about things. I decided, whether it is accurate or not, that I create my experience. There is alot scientific supporting the premise that we create our reality.

Why Give Up Your Time On Earth Feeling Down And Out

Regardless, of whether it is true or not, I decided that I create my experience. I determined I had created a lot of crap in my life and some good things. I looked at me, my life, and it occurred to me that I always got what I wanted and what I thought about. I really did.

My worst fears often came true. If I was anxious or depressed about something it was harder to move through the world. If I worried about money I never seemed to have enough. Perhaps, it was a chicken and egg thing, and I wasn’t sure what came first.

Did I not have money so I worried about it or because I worried about money I never had any. I wasn’t certain, but I decided not to care. I decided that I would control my thinking. I would endeavor to think the best about myself, my circumstances, and my future.

Let Go – Have Fun – Discover The Blessings And Celebrate

I’d think positively about the people around me, my  family, friends, and even strangers. I would strive to maintain a positive focus. I would concentrate on finding the good in everything as much as I am able. I would find the best in everything and everyone.

It was not always easy. It still isn’t always easy. Sometimes there are challenges and it seems like I may lose my way. I get sidetracked or off course, caught up, and I forget what is important and I get hooked. At some point I realize, that too, is my decision.

It’s  like a guilty pleasure, but without the pleasure part. You know, when you know you shouldn’t be doing something but you do it anyway. Whatever it is,  maybe you shouldn’t have that extra helping but you just have to, or you sneak an extra piece of chocolate.

You Go Where Your Thoughts Take You – Manage Your Thoughts

You feel guilty. Maybe, guilty isn’t exactly the right word.  It isn’t guilt sometimes it is just that you just know there is a better way of being or thinking or behaving.  It is like that, at some point, I become aware that I am off base and I need to get back on.

I know it is up to me.  Sometimes I don’t feel like correcting myself, but I do it anyway (because I have since learned how to). I course correct. There is so much incredible power in learning how to shift from the negative to the positive. It is absolutely freeing!

I learned, just because things are going on around me that are not to my liking, even if everything is crumbling, I do not have to think negative thoughts, or feel bad or respond as I would have in the past. That was something else i did a lot of.  I used to live in the past.

Live In The Present – Celebrate – Learn To Be Here Now

I used to aggrandize  the good old days and lament what was or what never came to be. I gave that up to. I developed a plan to change myself. I create daily rituals. I put my attention, focus, energy and time on thinking better and feeling better. AND IT WORKED.

I’ll share more in the next post. If you are a regular reader you know how important these things are. You understand mindset comes first and determines how we feel, behave and the results we get. You know if you want better results manage your mindset. BOOM!

That is what you must do. Gratitude is a powerful way to shift your focus and feel better. Focusing on what is good, new and different in this moment brings you back to the moment where you can count your blessings, feel good about everything, validate yourself and celebrate. Mindset Matters: How To Develop The Best Mindset!

“For some of us it is difficult to believe there is good in everything. For some, it seems there is just no good to go around. They think and experience life as difficult. For them, bad things happen. Perception is everything. There is also self-fulfilling prophecy. So heads up!

Consider this. Before humans walked the planet events came and went. Some days were gorgeous. Some filled with calamity. Whatever happened, happened. There was no one to label it, to judge it, to call it good or bad. Things occurred. What is IS.

Not judging is not the same as avoiding or ignoring. Things happen and require attention. It is the mindset one has, or uses, to go through it, that makes all the difference in the world. If it is a calamity we feel differently than if it is an annoyance.

Let Go – Relax – Drop It – Breath – Allow – Accept – Be Open

What we think and say determines how we feel and behave. If we think it ‘terrible’ we react from that mindset and from that set of emotions. If it is just another situation to discover opportunity and lessons, even if tough, we react or respond in another fashion.

When we label or judge less, when we don’t set ourselves up for the worst by calling it as such, we are more apt to be clear headed and resourceful. We don’t get overwhelmed with negative thoughts and emotions and are better equipped to resolve it positively. Get it?

Mindset determines how we approach the world around us. This is why Henry Ford said, ‘if you think you can or you think you can’t you are right!’ To behave and live more enjoyably, to experience more of the good life, we must see life as good first and enjoy it first.

If You Think You Can Or You Think You Can’t You Are Right

We get back what we put out. Concentrate on positivity and optimism. Focus on finding opportunity everywhere, even during adversity and you are more likely to discover it. Emphasize that which helps you think, feel and behave positively and powerfully.

Find blessings around you. Look at the abundance of all good things. Look for what is good. Seek to be filled with awe, and with appreciation and gratitude. Life changes, and so do you, when you activate your attitude. Learn to stop judging, let go, enjoy more and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

How To Understand And Utilize The Learning Curve

“Each person, the learner, needs to realize there is a learning curve. As you go through it you need to take time and relax. Enjoy the process of learning. You may be learning something you never knew or have done before. Be gentle on yourself. You are a newbie.

When learning adopt the attitude that it will be fun, there may be speed bumps but you can get over those easily. Stop pressuring yourself to be perfect doing something you never have before. Cut yourself some slack. Go easy. Stay with it. Play with it. Enjoy!

Whenever you do the correct things, repeatedly, consistently, for long enough, you begin to make that a habit. What I just described is the process of habit formation whether you intend to create one or not. Everyone of us has gone through this process infinite times.

The More We Do The More We Become Capable Of Doing

We develop the neural pathways of thought, feeling and behavior through repetition. Trying to stop a habit is difficult. Replacing one habit for another is much easier. It still requires the same process to learn the new habit so be patient. Be persistent. Relax and allow it.

When you go through the process of deliberately choosing a new mindset you’ll discover new ways of being opening up to you. When you first start the process of change all your former habits revolt attempting to keep you the same. It happens to everyone. Relax.

Recognize this and relax!  it is a good sign. It truly is. The barriers and walls and blocks will eventually crumble. The fact that they are fighting with you means you are on the precipice of change. There is the saying ‘old ways die hard’. They’ll fight. You’ll win if you persist.

Children Learn So Much More Through Play And Pretend

Stop responding the old way! Begin responding the new way. Yes, it takes commitment but it is worth it. It happens more quickly the more you accept the process. Don’t fight the process. Just stop! Negative thoughts or feelings will arise as you move forward.

Keep moving forward. Shift away from the negative. Focus on the positive. DO THOSE things that help you feel a bit better. Develop success habits. The only way you develop them is to do them over and over again until they become supportive reliable habits.

Keep the faith. Enjoy the process even when it isn’t enjoyable!! Think of it as  building your mind and will as you would build your body. Regular routine nutrition and exercise, long enough until you get the results you want. Then, it gets easier and is maintenance.

Notice It – Own It- Play With It – Stay With It – Make Learning Fun

Play with the things I’ve offered you. Begin by mastering the basics. That takes time. Yes, it takes commitment and effort. Nothing is free! If you want heat from the wood stove you need to cut the wood and put it in the stove and light the fire prior to getting heat.

So when you notice yourself thinking or feeling less than glorious, stop, breath and shift your thoughts and your physiology to something more productive and positive. Move, walk, sing, dance, smile. Think positive and keep thinking positive. Stay with this.

Stick with it. Keep at it. Let go and relax and have fun. I promise you IF you did nothing but made gratitude a habit and celebrated your life, moment to moment, most, if not all, issues would resolve, as if by magic. IT ISN’T magic. It is you doing it!

Only You Can Do It – No One Can Do Or Decide For You

The world may still hurl crap at you but you become different and learn to respond differently. SO stop thinking you need to get or be somewhere else. The destination is not the goal. Learning how to enjoy the journey right now, this moment, is the only goal you have.

Take care of the present and the rest will take care of itself. Live with passion and positivity. Enjoy this second. Celebrate it even when it seems hard. THAT is WHAT IS! That is the moment. You can enjoy it or choose not to, but that is what life offered right now. I suggest you transform yourself by leaning to celebrate. When you do YOU transform. So celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

You Can Only Think One Thought At A Time!

According to research we can only think one thought at a time. One thought at a time! Get it? So if you are thinking a positive, happy, good thought you CANNOT think a negative, less than glorious, bad thought at the same time. It is impossible! Get that? It’s important!

If you want to be happy all the time, then think happy thoughts all the time. Choose what you think about! Our thoughts regulate our brain chemistry. Think a negative thought and you are more likely to think another negative thought and feel negative. It works this way.

HOWEVER, think a positive thought and you are more likely to think another positive thought and feel positive! Our brain can’t tell the difference between the outer world and what we are thinking in our head. It accepts both as the same. Get it? It responds the same way!

You Become What You Think About Most Often

This is why we physiologically respond to a real fear or an imagined one. That is why mental imagery and suggestion can sexually arouse us in the absence of any real world stimuli. It all happens in our head and body. Get it? We get what we focus on. It literally expands!

Put your attention, lock your focus, on the glorious, the good, the positive, the happy and you inner mechanism will electro-chemically respond by enhancing your levels of dopamine, oxytocin and serotonin, which causes us feelings of well-being. It works this way!

Our internal electro-chemistry creates our feelings of satisfaction, contentment and/or happiness. Think happy and you will feel happy! As you feel happy you will think happy! It is a positive feedback loop. BUT think negative and you can go into a negative feedback loop.

Thoughts Lead To Feelings Lead To Behaviors Lead To Results

To stop the negative you need to stop! Take a break! Use your body, breath, smile, laugh, do anything else! Shift your attention to a happy thought. Remember, you can only think one thought at a time! SO change it from less than glorious to glorious. Get it? DO IT! It works!

Then choose another happy thought. Lock your concentration on the positive. Energy flows where your attention goes. AS you continue to pay attention to happy thoughts you feel happy and it gets easier and easy. Keep doing it and make it a habit! Get it?

You create the momentum. Whenever you are not feeling good, interrupt it, stop and shift! Then put, and keep, your attention on the positive. The more you do it the easier it gets to do it. Soon, if you keep at it, you will develop a positive supportive habit that you can keep for the rest of your life! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

What You Believe Can Kill You! Ask Mr. Wright. Ooops, You Can’t He Is Dead.

“The Placebo Effect states simply, if you believe something will benefit you, then it’s possible, and likely, it will. The Nocebo Effect states simply, if you think it will harm you, or have no effect, then it’s possible, and likely, it will. These effects  are well researched.

There is a famous real-life story about the placebo effect and Mr Wright. I shared this in an earlier blog post a while back. Mr. Wright believed a drug his doctor could get would save him based on what he read about in the press. His doctor administered a placebo.

The doctor told him he was getting the medicine he thought would help. His condition improved. Later, he read in the newspaper the ‘miracle drug’ didn’t work. His condition deteriorated. His doctor convinced him otherwise and his condition again improved.

You Are Today Where Your Thoughts Have Brought You

Later, he read the drug was a hoax. He died. Both the Placebo and Nocebo effect were at work. They are always at work about everything. We are always thinking. It isn’t just in medicine, but that is where the effect became obviously known. Look it up.

People have believed in all sorts of things and found help. Lourdes, amulets, faith healers, Voodoo healing and Voodoo curses, the Evil Eye. The list is endless. If you believe a food or practice is healthy for you it is likely it can be, even if it isn’t. Your beliefs may make it so.

If you believe it is harmful, it too, can be likely, even if it isn’t. If you believe it will add weight to you or help you shed pounds, then too, it is possible. It is all about what you believe! Nothing is locked in stone. Our beliefs determine our reality more than the other way.

You Will Be Tomorrow Where Your Thoughts Take You

I am not suggesting you can or should do anything believing the opposite. It is about what you actually, truly. already believe is or isn’t possible. Snake handlers have demonstrated success and failure with this concept of faith. Don’t test your faith this way. It’s stupid.

Be wise about it. If you decide you will only eat sugar laden chocolate cake and that it will be healthy for you and you will lose weight, it is possible. It may or may not be likely so don’t be surprised if it works or doesn’t. Don’t try to make a sows ear into a silk purse.

If you are surprised it works you didn’t believe it to begin with. If it doesn’t work, you may not have actually believed that it would. You won’t fly believing you can, so don’t walk off a high ledge. That isn’t what this effect is about. Still, it can powerfully assist you.

You Cannot Escape The Power Of Your Thoughts

It can assist you in healing and in accomplishing your goals when you believe you are able to and will. Mindset first and foremost, then everything else can fall in place. Placebo works well together with medicine that works and Nocebo works against the same medicine.

This revolves around one of my favorite, and most powerful, quotes by Henry Ford, ‘If you think you can or you think you can’t you are right.’ What you believe tends to determine how far you will go. If you believe you can, then it is possible, but it isn’t written in stone.

You still have to make it happen. However, if you believe you can’t then you may not even bother to attempt it. Get it? You determine your future by how you think about it. You determine your past and present in the very same manner. What you believe matters!

How To Supercharge Your Day

“When it comes to beginning your day, don’t wait. Make it happen. When you arise, think positive. Think how much you love your life and how grateful you are for another day. Use your awakening moments to set the tone for the day. Make it positive and happy.

Decide to vibe high. Decide to feel good! Don’t let circumstances dictate how you feel YOU decide how you feel and how you will feel. Get thrilled and get enthused. Feel happy, positive, powerful, and playful. Be optimistic. Set the frame of mind to make a glorious day.

No one determines how you go through the day, but you. Most people don’t realize this and act as victims to outer influences. The number one thing you can control in this world, in fact the only thing you can absolutely control, is YOU. Control your thoughts!

Energy Flows Where Your Attention Goes 

When you take charge, instead of being a victim, you become the victor. You chose to respond differently than others might. You choose to be positive, resourceful and bigger than any obstacle or road block. When you do this daily, you develop the positive habit.

You condition yourself to be more resourceful, more optimistic, more positive and that makes you more clear headed and able to resolve difficulties that may arise. In fact, stop considering difficulties problems but opportunities you haven’t discovered yet.

Manage your mind, your thoughts and feelings and you will act positively more consistently which will get you the kind of results you hope to get. Transform yourself by the renewing of your mind and your heart each and every day. Do it and you will know!

Control Your Attention – What You Focus On Expands

Meditate first thing. Express your gratitude. Shout your affirmations enthusiastically. Visualize. Decide to have a fabulous day. Decide to smile and laugh more! Help others to do the same. As you do you will notice how much easier it gets and how delighted you are. Get it?

Create a powerful, positive morning routine and you will begin to notice the benefits! Learn to feel blessed. Develop the habits that support you in being the kind of person you want to be. Do this daily and you will become so amazed! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

This Is One Of The Most Powerful Things You Can Do!

“Change is constant. Everything changes. There is ebb and flow. The tide is in the tide is out. Night becomes day, day night. Winter becomes spring. For everything there is a season. Accept what is. Go with the flow. Paddle with the current and travel downstream.

Learn how to accept everything as it is. It’s one of the most profound ways to overcome any challenge in life. Accept what is. Look for the blessing in each moment. Whatever is troubling, know that it, too, will pass. Acceptance, is a state of mind. Manage your attitude.

It is all mindset. Whatever comes our way in life, is part of the process of life. Stop judging and accept unconditionally. Allow it without resistance. Stop fighting and fighting stops. It doesn’t mean giving up. It means letting go. Stop being invested. Allow and accept.

You Go Where Your Thoughts Take You – Be Here Now

Instead of fighting, you are conserving your energy. Energy flows where your attention goes. Instead of fighting, your energy can go into the present moment, easily. You stop creating more problems. You put an end to negativity. You allow yourself to be resourceful.

You are not judging. You are letting go, not giving up. You aren’t apathetic. You are not resigned or weak. You are more powerful because you are going with what life offers in this moment. You are in one accord instead of divided. You feel blessed because you are.

You are patient. You are accepting. You allow nature to take her course. You are tolerant of whatever comes your way. You are not a victim. You are paddling with the current, moving with the stream. You can find learning and discoveries, blessings all along the way. Celebrate it. Celebrate this moment. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Stop Seeking Happiness For Happiness

 

“Sadly, people want to be happy. They think if they have another brighter, shinier object it will make them happy. If they get an award or a promotion they will somehow be better and consequently be happier. More of something elusive is what they think will work.

It doesn’t and it won’t. From most all reports through eons of time having more, or accomplishing, much isn’t the base of lasting or true happiness. So, what is if you can’t become happy this way? True happiness comes from a sense of being happiness right now.

Humans become dissatisfied with what they want. The shiny object becomes dull in time and so we want more. We seek something else to fulfill us. This becomes an endless pursuit. It seems we are only happy when we have something new and better to brag about.

You Are Where Your Thoughts Have Brought You

Since these feelings of satisfaction and happiness come and go, is there something one can do that is more permanent or longer lasting? Yes, is the answer. Start living in the present moment and appreciate what you already have. Be happy now. Right now!

Some people complain they don’t know how. That is because they have practiced being happy through accumulation. It is time to practice being happy for who you are and for what you have right now. Recognize the good in your life. Notice and become aware of it.

It is not just things. It is who you are and how you feel. It is the people in your life. It is the circumstances surrounding you. It is the moment right now. It is the beauty of the earth right now, today, that matters. Stop seeking and start being. That makes the difference.

The More We Do The More We Are Capable Of Doing

Stop wanting to be happy and start accepting the now. Look for the good in you and all around you. Discover that blessings abound. Stop putting off for tomorrow what you have today. Stop making your conception of happiness an ideal. It isn’t a thing to have. Get it?

Happiness isn’t some state you enter. Happiness is a process and a choice. You won’t always feel blissful. You don’t have to either. People get screwed up by their definitions of happiness. They miss it because of what they think it means and what it is. It is a thing!

Happiness is not the absence of everything else that isn’t happiness. Happiness is a process. It is a sense of well-being. It is contentment. Happiness is emphasizing the good. Energy flows where your attention goes. Stop pursuing a thing. Be in a process. Be in flow.

Skill Comes From Doing – Repetition Is The Mother Of Skill

The river isn’t static. It is moving, flowing. Life flows and changes. We feel differently from time to time. Happiness is a choice not a thing! It is a decision as to where you place your attention and what you determine to focus on. The goal is to feel the best you are able.

This doesn’t mean you always need to be amped up and a ten on the glee meter. It means you feel a bit better than a moment ago. If you are down and out you do whatever is necessary to feel a bit better. You move yourself in a more positive and optimistic direction.

Drop by drop the tub fills. It needn’t be now or never. All of life is process. Accept it. Tides come and go. Feelings ebb. Allow for changes while steering your boat in the river of life. Go with the current but steer away from the rocks. Navigate and enjoy.

You Get What You Focus On – What You Focus On Expands

The easiest way to be happy is to appreciate the moment. Feel grateful and accentuate the positive. You don’t ignore the negative or problems but you place them safely within context and don’t let them run you. You focus on what is good and delightful. Get it?

You choose to be bigger than any obstacle and you determine to live as a champion. You focus on what you can and will do. You focus on  that, which right now, is good. Fill your mind and being with wonder and awe and delight for what is YOU this moment! Tend to the beauty of the garden even while weeding it. Be happy and you will do and have more happiness. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Money Follows Mindset!

Money follows mindset. Sad but true OR very good news. That means when you get your mindset, your thinking and attitude right then everything else can fall into place. Most people haven’t learned this. I recently answered a person’s question and decided to share it.

Most people are taught or learned that they need money and things first and THEN they will be happy or positive. It is exactly the reverse. When you are positive and happy you are clearer and more resourceful than when stressed. Money comes more easily this way.

The truth is, most all people face the same challenge. That is how to learn to manage thoughts and feelings when things aren’t going well. If you thought about it for a second you’d realize that is the ONLY time you can really learn to manage their thoughts and feelings.

If Everything Were Already Rosy There’d Be No Need To Change

The time to change is right now. If you want things in your life to change, you must change things in your life. If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you have always got. There is never a better moment than right now. You change, things change.

Learn how to take charge of your thoughts and feelings. When you do, the future is yours. You can learn to be, do and have anything you desire. The key is to become it, then you will do the things that bring you what you want to have. Most everyone has this backwards!

The think having things will make them happy. They think if they do things they will have things and then be happier. Nope. You be happy, first and then everything else follows. This is why I write this blog. I write so you and I can learn to manage our thoughts and feelings.

Whether You Think You Can Or Your Think You Can’t You’re Right

This is why I have dedicated 2/3rds of my life to assisting others in making positive changes. If any one person can do it, then you can. Have faith. Start believing in yourself and begin to realize you can transform. Once you start it gets easier and easier.

You begin by imagining a better life.  Believe in yourself to make it happen and then YOU bring it about. Mindset is everything. Your attitude determines your altitude! Fill your mind daily with positive thoughts and create daily positive rituals. This is how it works!

It may take some time but it does work! Persist and you will discover how incredible you already are! Look for everything you already have in your life and feel grateful. Express your gratitude! Keep a journal. Look for the good in life and appreciate it. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
