How To Get Along With Others Part 2

“Recently, I mentioned a young woman, I’d overheard having a  discussion with an older gentleman. She mentioned she liked a group meeting she had attended the day before. His immediate reply was, ‘I don’t like that group.’  What could he have done instead?

He could ask questions. He COULD have asked questions without wanting or needing or bothering to give an opinion. If he wished to acknowledge and respect her he could have asked, ‘that’s great, what do  you like about it?’ He could encourage her to speak more.

He could have said, ‘fascinating! Will you go back? What did you discover? How did you find out about it?’ Were there many people?’  He could’ve been curious! He could have listened. Instead, he rendered an opinion that was not asked for. She was sharing.

Energy Flows Where Attention Goes – Create A Good Connection

She was telling him something she discovered and enjoyed. He immediately dissed it and her. I don’t think he intended to. He was just unaware of what he was doing. So many of us are AND much of the time. We are too eager to give our point of view.  Get it?

We say what we like or don’t when someone voices theirs. We don’t need to. They didn’t ask us for our opinon. If they do, we can give it without being offensive. We could say something like, ‘I am glad you really like it. It’s just not for me.’ We validate and add information.

We could say, ‘marvelous, it didn’t resonate with me’, or ‘I have been going to a different group I like. I fit in better in my group.’ Why do you suppose when you say ‘I like pizza’ someone feels compelled to  say, ‘not me!’ Perhaps you have do this. I certainly have. Silly human.

People Tend To Like People Who Like The Same Things They Do

Instead of saying, ‘wow. really what do you like about it?  Why do you like? I haven’t really enjoyed it that much but I’d be curious. Maybe I’m missing something? How do you like it? What toppings?’ Get it? We can listen and request more information. Let them share!

It is about how we treat others. Do we listen to listen, or do we listen just so we can give our opinion? Do we listen just to speak? If you want to be respectful, be curious. Say, ‘fascinating, why do you think that?’ They are entitled to have an opinion. Let them have it freely.

We don’t have to argue over every like and dislike. If you both looked at a painting you don’t have to go to battle over it. You can simply say, ‘what do you like about it? Oh, that is interesting. I hadn’t thought about it that way. I hadn’t noticed that.’ Encourage them.

Like Attracts Like – Birds Of A Feather Flock Together

If they ask you if you liked it, you can be honest without being disrespectful or hurting them. You can say, ‘I don’t feel about it as you do. It doesn’t speak to me in that way.’ You are entitled to your opinion to. Just know when to, and when not to, give it. GET IT?

Treat people with respect. How respectful are you? We don’t need to give our opinion to everyone all the time. I know, we want to. So do I.  We just need to listen more. Give our attention and respect to the people we associate with. Let them know we value them.

Then we help them feel valued and help them feel understood. Then they feel listened to. Be interested in the other person. When their interests are in your heart  they will feel it. They will feel comfortable and like being around you if you make them feel good.

Attention – Respect – Kindness – Caring – Love – Acceptance Last

Go first. The responsibility is always on us. It is on them too if they know these principles and practices. Not everyone does. Be an example. Be a role model. Be the change you want to see in the world. Be kind, understanding, patient and accepting. You can be.

When you give your full undivided attention to another and really listen without simply wanting to speak they will feel it. Your nonverbal behaviors will demonstrate you are a respectful, good person. They really will feel it. WHY? Because so few people do this.

People want to shout out their opinions on social media and in public more and more, it seems. We don’t have to oppose each other. We can embrace each other and even our differences. It is a choice. Ask questions. Further the conversation rather than end it. Be curious.

You Win More Bears With Honey Than With Vinegar

You don’t have to, of course, but if you want a deeper rapport with people who are important to you AND those you’d like to be more important , then you will really listen more and speak less. Discover how you can share your point of view in meaningful ways. Connect with others first and they will want to hear from you, too. It is reciprocal. Make you moments magical with many more people. Celebrate everything!”

Thinking Its A Problem Makes It A Problem Part 2

“Remember, when you say, ‘this is a problem’, it is! You declare a situation troublesome. How bad you say it is, makes it so. When you say, ‘I have a problem’, you are affirming that you have a problem.  The reality is there is a situation, or a person, you describe as bad.

The reality is, it is neither good nor bad. It is nothing until you declare it as something. Prior to human presence on the planet, all sorts of things happened. No one here to judge them. Your judgment biases the situation. It colors or flavors it. It makes it worse than it is.

How you represent it, how you think, feel and speak about it makes it so. It is whatever you think and declare it to be. If you want to change it, change how you think, feel and speak about it. Reframe it into an opportunity to discover new things. Shrink it down in size!

Today You Are Where Your Previous Thoughts Brought You 

Get it? It is whatever it is. Your resistance to it makes it what you label it. It is whatever it is! You lock it in as a difficulty when you declare it one. Otherwise, it really is an opportunity to discover your resourcefulness. You can find your strength and learn something.

If you want different results, change what is going on inside you. Change your thinking. Stop labeling it as bad. Call it a situation. You have an opportunity to explore options you might not otherwise have . You have a learning opportunity. You don’t need to lie about it.

You don’t deceive yourself. You notice it and reframe it. You look for the good within it and accentuate the good. You emphasize your strengths, not your weaknesses. You explore your ability to rise to the occasion, think positive and not let things take you down.

Tomorrow You Will Be Where Today’s Thoughts Take You

If you’re so inclined you can call it a blessing. Everything this side of death can be considered a blessing. You’re alive. That is better than not being alive. You go through experiences, ups and downs, as an adventurer. Act like an adventurer. They like challenges. Do you?

It’s our desire for everything to be ‘perfect’ that screws us up when things go awry. We don’t want anything to come along and upset the status quo. We want things the same. We want them comfortable. Nothing wrong in that but things change. Flexibility is desirable.

Do you understand it is within your control, and ability, to call it whatever you want to call it that serves you and supports you. Some people call it a ‘big’ issue. It really is not unless you decide it is. A ‘big issue’ is another representation of it as a problem, Change this!

You Can’t Escape Your Thoughts – What You Focus On Expands

Instead of making a mountain out of a molehill, make the mountain a molehill! Shrink down the size. Make it manageable in your mind. When you do you’re more resourceful. You can more readily, easily and swiftly resolve it when it isn’t looming or overwhelming.

Change what you are doing and you DO get different results. If you always think the way you always thought you keep getting what you always got. It’s all about how you represent it. How you think, feel and speak about it that makes it so. Get it? So reframe it.

Learn how to reframe it. Call it something different. It is whatever you think and declare it to be. If you want to things to change, change how you think and feel and speak about things. Reframe it into an opportunity to discover new things. Shrink it down in size.

Thoughts Become Things – Thinking Makes It So

Want different results, change what is going on inside! I repeat. If you want your life to change you must change things in your life.  Doing the same thing repeatedly isn’t getting you the results you want. Find the good. Accentuate the positive. Make it so!

Be grateful you are alive! Be grateful you are able to experience ALL situations. Look at them as a blessing. When you are able to do this everything in your life transforms for the better. What you seek you will find. Want a problem? You can have one. Want an incredible life? Then celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Thinking It Is A Problem Is The Problem!

“When you say, ‘this is a problem’, guess what? It is! When you say, ‘I have a problem’, you do! You ARE affirming the problem.  Get it? It is really only a situation, an event, another person, but you are looking at it and declaring it AS a problem. It is whatever you declare it to be.

In reality, it is neither good nor bad. You know the saying, ‘one man’s meat is another’s poison’. ‘One person’s ceiling is another person’s floor.’ It is just a set of conditions, or circumstances, that you choose to view in a particular way. You react to it as you learned to react.

It is nothing until you declare it as something. Your judgment, your naming it, is A problem that makes it THE problem. Perception is everything. What you say IS WHAT YOU GET! Stop labeling events as troublesome or problems! Just stop doing it! STOP! Get it?

What You Say Is What You Get – Thinking Makes It So

Outer circumstances are just elements in play. It is inside you, that you determine how you react, respond, review and feel about them. You translate if from situation to problem. You could translate it into an opportunity, but most likely won’t. You’ll do what you always do.

Until, you learn a better way, you will continue to make things problems! Until you stop! Thinking it is a problem IS the problem! Once you stop labeling the situations, and the thoughts and feelings associated with it, you are free to make better choices!

There are a number of things you can do to transform yourself, and your situations. BUT the very first step is to become aware of what you’re already doing. If you aren’t aware of how your thoughts and behaviors limit you, you won’t change them. You must notice!

You Are Where Your Thoughts Take You – Speak To Only To Bless 

First, become aware of what is going on. Then STOP what you are doing. Learn to do something else; anything else! Learn to change yourself, and what you normally do, in the moment by doing something different than  what you automatically do. Get it?

If you keep doing the same thing again and again, you keep perpetuating those issues. Only you can stop it. That is good news. Only you can stop it when you first become aware of your habits. So, become aware. Get grateful.

Be happy when you recognize yourself engaging in  the behaviors you want to change. That IS THE FIRST STEP. Noticing. Recognizing. From there you can begin the process of changing. You can’t if you are blind to what needs to change. So be glad. Really glad.  THEN celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Who You Say You Are Makes And Incredible Difference!

“One can believe that we operate from our beliefs and perceptions, our filters, and that we create everything 100% in our reality, or that things happen and we react from our previous habituated mental conditioning and we have no say in reality. We are Victor or Victim,

You can believe you can learn to positively and productively respond to whatever circumstances arise or you are helpless and powerless to do so. You can choose to accept 100% responsibility in choosing how to respond what life offers even if you aren’t in control of it.

How well you fare in life, how happy and successful you are, depends on how you choose to view yourself, the world around you, and whether you’re ‘at cause’ and help make things happen, or ‘at effect’, and are a victim of happenstance. What you think is what you get!

Perception Is Everything – Your Beliefs Make It So – Be Aware

If you decide you are 100% responsible it means you account for everything, good and bad, that happens and you attempt to make the best of it. You aren’t a victim. You take charge and respond as best you can when difficulties arise. You choose to be resourceful.

You are either a victor or a victim of whatever happens. A victim has no say in making it different and reacts from habituated thoughts, feelings and behaviors. One choice comes from a place of power. The other does not. So, So are you able? Can you chart your own course?

Can you create the life you want? Are you a victor or a victim.? Whatever you may have decided previously can be changed, or not, depending on whether one believes you can change it or can not. How successful and happy you are depends on your mindset.

Stop Struggling Start Living – Create Your Best Life Ever

These questions are meant to help you clarify which mindset you live from. Which mindset do you want  to live from?  What are you willing to settle for? What will you stop tolerating? When will you begin to create what you want? You know your answers. So….

Are you powerful enough to make changes or must you live as a cork bobbing on the water driven by the wind and waves? It is either up to you or it isn’t, right? Choose! It is a choice each of us makes, or doesn’t. Whatever you do, or don’t do, there you are! It is up to you!

You live from your choices or decisions. Whatever you decide is what you get to fulfill; victor or victim. If you play the victim role your choices are limited. Whether or not you are actually responsible, if you act as if you are, you have more choices available.

What You Say Is What You Get – Success Is A Decision Away

As a victor you have the power to choose how to respond, how to make it different and how to feel differently! You are in charge. This an important distinction between a winning mindset and one that is not. You want a winning, victor, champion mindset, do you not?

More next time. Meanwhile, decide whether or not you are in charge of your thinking, feeling, behaving and your life. It is all up to you and your decisions. Success is only a decision away. Choose that which enables you to create and live the life of your dreams. Take action. If you say you are a victor, act like it! Live from your power. Live from gratitude. What You Choose Makes A Difference

“What we believe shapes our reality. What we believe determines, to great extent, how well we navigate the world. If we believe something to be difficult, it most always is. If we believe it easy, we will have an easier time with things than thinking it is hard.

Get it? Therefore, I choose to believe it is easy to change my thoughts. I choose to believe it is easy to feel wonderful and delighted. I choose to feel blessed and find opportunity even in hardship. I choose to believe it is easy to find good everywhere.

I believe in making things simple and easy whenever and wherever possible. I can easily change a thought or belief from negative to positive. I always can choose how I want to think about things. So I choose to feel, think and be the best! All is good. Celebrate everything! Rex Sikes

What So Many People Miss! Don’t Make This Mistake!

“Many people want things. Lot’s of people attempt to ‘think’ them into being. That is a great beginning place. Your thinking makes it so. Still, you need right action to back up your right thinking. So many people make the following  mistake. You loose out if you do.

‘There is a difference between wishing for a thing and being ready to receive it. No one is ready for a thing until he  believes he can acquire it. The state of mind must be belief not mere hope or wish,’ said Napoleon Hill. He makes this very important distinction!

Some people want things but aren’t ready to acquire them. One reason is they wish and hope instead of deliberately making things happen. They don’t believe in themselves and their ability to take charge and go get it. They wish and hope and want. Then complain.

What You Think About You Bring About – Thinking Makes It So

Do you? Do you go after what you want? Is your mind focused and your mindset positive? Do you put yourself in charge and take the positive steps toward making it come to pass, or do you sit and hope it will be attracted to you? The latter is a sure way to fail.

Some people want ‘wanting’ things more than they enjoy getting things. I did. Christmas would come around, my birthday and other holidays and I was thrilled. Eager! I couldn’t wait to get my presents. When the presents arrived I felt disappointed and let down.

Even when they were exactly what I wanted. It was great time anticipating them, but ho-hum getting them. Have you experienced this? It goes to prove that getting things doesn’t make you happy. This is the reason many successful, wealthy people feel unfulfilled.

The Proper Fruit Of Knowledge Is Action – Skill Come From Doing

You must be happy first. Then whatever you get you enjoy. You don’t change because you get things. You enjoy what you have and you enjoy what is added to you. That comes from the correct mindset and heart space first. Get it? I hope you do or you’ll keep suffering.

You must believe in yourself and believe you can acquire it. You must want to be it, do it, and have it, more than simply wanting it. You must make yourself into someone who gets what you want through positive means. You make it happen because you know you will.

Get it? It is up to you if it is going to come true. Your mental state and your emotional state are crucial to your success. Be happy, be eager, be thrilled. Be certain, you not only want it but you can and will acquire it because you are the kind of person who can and will. Get it? Celebrate everything!”

Isn’t It Time To Feel Good About Yourself?

“Many of us, for whatever the reasons, have gotten down on ourselves. We treat each ourselves harshly. We are critical and we judge ourselves and past choices and behaviors. We regret. We live in victimhood. Isn’t it time you decided to feel good about yourself?

Isn’t it time to realize you did the best you could with what you knew at the time. Those days are over. Let them go. Before you do, decide to forgive yourself for whatever you did or whomever you were back then. Forgive and let go. Now, forgive yourself for being cruel to you.

Forgive yourself for judging and treating yourself without respect. Let it all go. Let all the doubts and personal injury slip away, fade away. Let go of all the negative thinking about yourself. Put an end to it. Start to recognize your positive characteristics and attributes.

You Go Where Your Thoughts Take You – You Create Reality

Emphasize these. Emphasize the good in you. Emphasize your positive accomplishments,  You are only human, after all. Cut yourself some slack. Accentuate the positive. Eliminate the negative. Every time you notice a limitation or defect in yourself, stop!

Stop, drop and let it go, Then find a positive trait or asset to feel good about. Stop wallowing in pain and suffering, start being thankful, feeling blessed and feeling the good you can come to enjoy when you do this. Make a list of all your positive characteristics. List them!

List your talents and abilities. List what you are learning to do. List all that you are thankful for about yourself. Praise and encourage and nurture yourself. Find things in your life, experiences, people, events and circumstances to be grateful for. Consider all of it a blessing.

What You Focus On Expands – You Reap What You Sow

Realize you are a gift to the universe and you have the gift of life. Enjoy both! Treat yourself with love, compassion, respect and kindness. Discover your good. Look for it and find it! Discover your light! Let your light shine! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

It Matters! Who Is Running The Show?

“In a recent post I posited, “From ancient time on, humans have asked,  ‘who is running the show?’ I pointed out that from ancient time answers have been forthcoming. Not everyone appreciates the answers, nor do all agree. What say you? Who is running the show?

Your answer speaks volumes about you, your mindset, your current status or circumstances, and your ability to be happy and successful. It speaks volumes about how easily you will triumph or whether you fold, quit and go home a loser, tail between your legs. So…?

Answer carefully. Your answer either comes from your previous, past, conditioned thinking, you adopted from others and from conclusions you drew from experiences you had, run through your past conditioned filters, to be able to make those conclusions.

Energy Flows Where Your Attention Goes – Reap And Sow

The answer comes from your beliefs about you, the world and your ability to be happy, loved, successful, peaceful, or not. Your answer is be a reflection of the deeply ingrained convictions you hold about possibilities and opportunities, for yourself and from the world.

You either place control outside yourself, within yourself, or some kind of mix. Whatever you choose will determine, to great extent, how you live your life. You either are a champion or a loser; a victor or a victim, or one somewhere in the middle.  The middle is ho-hum.

This is a most important point most people miss! Every moment of the day you are making attributions and assignments about your pleasure or pain. You are placing the control for a wonderful life either in your hands or in someone else’s. Do you understand this?

You Create Reality Within – You Operate Off Mental Maps

Whatever your answer is will illuminate you to where your problems, issues and obstacles are. It will shine the flashlight of awareness on your limitations IF, and WHEN, you are ready to notice what your thinking is. If not, it will remain hidden.

Have the courage to listen to yourself! Listen to your attributions, the excuses, the reasons, the complaints, the blames, the accusations and realize, and recognize, you either have the power to change things, and make things happen, or you don’t believe you do.

So which is it? What is your truth? Is it the old, previously conditioned, limited way or a brand new positive and powerful way? Examine your thoughts and beliefs. Drop and let go of the ones that don’t serve you and the reasons that hold you captive. Release them!

Release that which doesn’t serve you. Let go of the non-supportive beliefs, and attitudes, and adopt new beliefs and attitudes, principles and practices, that help you create your best life ever. Do You Struggle With The Law Of Attraction

“We live from the inside out. We operate off of mental maps. We have filters that delete information coming in. We distort things. Have you ever thought you saw your friend in a crowd only to discover you were mistaken? Looked like your friend, didn’t it?

That is an example of distortion. We generalize and make rules we think should apply in every situation and for all people. Oh, sure, we sometimes acknowledge the occasional counter-example, ‘not every rich person is a jerk’, but we think most all are. Get it? We do this.

All inside our head. Automatically and routinely. We believe some great things and some silly, stupid negative things. We create our reality from unconscious, habitual processes; neural pathways laid down while growing up. It is all good, too. We benefit from these.

The Map Is Not The Territory – Eat The Food Not The Menu

We don’t have to re-invent the world. We have automatic ways of doing things. They are streamlined. The issue most of us have is we struggle with our own processes. We struggle with our own beliefs. We want to do certain things and yet we actually resist changing.

We do all this automatically to remain the same. Our brains job is to keep us alive and keep us consistent. The same way our thermostat works to adjust the temperature to maintain its setting. All of it is good, we just don’t always think so. Therein is the rub.

It is what we think it is. If we think it is difficult or hard it will be more so than if we think it easy. If we think it doesn’t work it most likely will not. If we think we can’t we probably never will. If we think the world is against us we will find reasons that prove it to us. Get it?

Energy Flows Where Attention Goes – Choose Wisely

It is what we think and say it is. It is all within the realm of natural laws and principles. It doesn’t mean if I think I am 9 feet tall I am or will be. I hope you understand this point, it is important. You create your reality and how you experience the world, from within.

If you have difficulty manifesting what you want you need to make some changes. How you presently live, your level of health, wealth and happiness require little or no effort. You are already doing it and maintaining it. Positively changing will take some effort.

Whether you think that is difficult or easy will determine how you move through it. If you think it will be difficult to learn to play the piano, or juggle, or swim, or drive a car, it will be. If you think it will be easy with no learning curve it would be unrealistic. Get it?

What You Focus On Expands – Thoughts Become Things

If, however, you think, ‘I can easily and effortlessly learn to do this and any challenges that come my way I can readily move through and enjoy the process’, you will be better off. If you think you never get what you want, or getting it will be tough, makes it so.

If you think the Law of Attraction doesn’t work or is difficult to make work, you would be correct for yourself. You’d be wrong according to the experience of countless others. You create your reality! Do you understand this? If you want it easier, you must think it so.

You can learn to do this if you don’t. We all must go through it. Accept it and decide to transform yourself. Stop re-enforcing what hasn’t worked, what holds you back, and keeps you negative. Decide to shift to the positive and emphasize this. Put your focus to work.

You Are Always Creating Everything Whether You Want It Or Not

Energy flows where your attention goes. What you emphasize expands. You get more of whatever you think about. Practice thinking positive and feeling good. If you need more help that is why I am here. Would You Like To Stop Making A Mess Of Things?

“What are you creating for yourself? What are you making? Is it magnificent or is it a mess? Lots of people are great at creating a mess. Fewer are magnificent at creating the magnificent. Wouldn’t you like to stop making problems and create the life of your dreams?

You can when you apply some simple, but powerful, principles consistently, for long enough to make create supportive habits. I am fond of saying ‘Always remember, if you wrestle someone in the mud, you both get dirty.’ The same applies to your thoughts.

What are your dominant thoughts? Do you focus on the ‘I can’, ‘I am able’, ‘I will’, ‘I accomplished’, or do you focus on the less than glorious? Where do you spend most of your time? Are you mostly positive? How high are you vibing? This is important. Gotta feel it!

What Is Now Proved Was Once Impossible

The more positive and high vibe your thoughts are the more powerful they are. Your subconscious gets the message you want it to get when your positive attitude has HIGH SIGNAL value. Think of powerful broadcasting stations and their ability to reach further.

The same is true of your thoughts. Wimpy thoughts gets wimpy or less than glorious results. Powerful, positive thoughts gets powerful positive results! Remember, the story of the two dogs within you waging battle. The one that wins is the one you feed. Feed often!

Turn your thoughts in positive, powerful, high vibe mental broadcasts. This is how you begin to create what you want and attract what you want. Stop making messes. Create your best life ever. You can when you know what to do! Remember the statement, ‘If it is to be, it is up to me!’ Celebrate everything! Rex Sikes
