If You Don’t Keep The Faith And Persist You Will Lose!

Horizons an-autumn-walk-phil-koch

“Sometimes you think right and do all the right things, yet, nothing seems to happen. What you want still seems far off, removed from you. Will it happen? You begin to worry, doubt or fear it may not. After all, you don’t see any results from your efforts? What gives?

There is the Chinese bamboo plant. Once planted, it is watered and nurtured for up to 6 years. The plant remains underground with no evidence of growth. In the 7th year the plant sprouts and grows 90 feet within 2 months.

Can you imagine? Nothing all that while, then suddenly! So when did it grow the 90 feet? Did it not grow at all during the first many years and then suddenly grow 90 feet? OR was it growing the entire time? Obviously, it must have been growing the entire time.

Be Positive Patient And Persistent And You Will Get It

If it wasn’t watered or taken care of, in any given year, it would have died. It was always growing even when you couldn’t see it. The same is true of your goals. When you do the right things consistently and for long enough they will come about. Even though invisible now.

You must have faith. Expect good things to come to you. Even though you cannot see it. Even while it is invisible maintain the faith that something good is about to happen. It may not be right away. It could take years. Keep the faith. It will happen. Believe in yourself.

Ancient texts, historical records, are full of examples of people who kept going when it seemed pointless. There are countless stories of people who persevere against seemingly insurmountable odds.Odds give way to a new reality. For 7 years the plant grows underground.

Do The Right Things Consistently For Long Enough – You’ll Get It

Then one day it sprouts and grows to over 90 feet in a short period of time. The invisible becomes visible. Once your results start coming, look out. They may come faster than you can imagine. So don’t give up just because you don’t see any results, yet. Persist.

Stop comparing where you are to where you want to be. Be patient. Be steadfast. Maintain a positive attitude. Continue your due diligence in thought, feeling and right inspired actions. Be grateful and enjoy, Your day is coming. Expect it with certainty. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

It’s Best To Stop Fighting And Surrender To Success

horizons southbound-phil-koch

“Is success a struggle? Do you work hard but feel like you are spinning your wheels? Napoleon Hill wrote ‘Think And Grow Rich’ because he discovered modeling and studying 520 of the world’s wealthiest successful people that it was 99% mental and 1% effort.

With the correct mindset action becomes inspired. With the right attitude and beliefs supporting you, you are able to more effectively plan and work your plan, smartly. Work becomes pleasure. You don’t feel like you are working. You love what you do. Still, you work at it!

He pointed out that first you must know your purpose clearly. It should become a passionate burning desire, and you must absolutely believe you can and will make it happen with certainty. Then you must never give up. Learn from obstacles and persist by will power.

Will Power Is A Muscle – The More You Use It The Stronger It Gets

I want to shift our focus today to will power. There are many things Hill added into the mix that are important. Will power is one many people miss today, or so it seems. I also want to provide you with a way of doing things that helps move your forward with your goals.

When I use the term will power I mean that by an act of will you continue on toward your goal or ultimate purpose. It is you doing it from inner strength and fortitude. When I say control your thoughts and persist through will power I mean keep at it. As I think Hill did.

When negative thoughts arise you can acknowledge the thought, even thank it.  Appreciation goes a long way. Then shift your attention to the opposite, the positive thought, think on what you want instead. Re-focus you attention of what you want to include.

Stop Saying I Wish And I Want And I Hope – Start Saying I Will

Drop what you want to exclude. Don’t fight the negative thoughts. Accept, thank and let go. What you resist persists. Don’t wage battle, instead re-direct your attention. Energy flows where your attention goes. Yes, you may have to re-direct any number of times at first.

Eventually, you train you brain, your subconscious, how to work the way you want it to. It is a conditioning process. It is a training process. Be dedicated. Be committed. Be rigorous. Be persistent. BUT you don’t have to fight yourself. It is better if you don’t.

Be gentle. Be accepting. Be forgiving. Be in favor of you. Be encouraging. Be kind. Be friendly. Pat yourself on the back for whatever you do. Even when you don’t do it as you want. You did it however you did it at the time. There is no blame in that. Accept it.

What You Focus On Expands – You Get What You Focus On

Frustration, anger, blame and self-loathing don’t get you where you want to be faster. In fact those tend to prevent you from changing swiftly and easily. So use will power to carry you through and to stick with it but don’t be hard on yourself. Be committed and gentle.

Strength can be many things besides force. Let go. Learn flexibility. Bend don’t break. Shift your attention away from negative thinking toward positive thinking by focusing on what you want, what you like, what you enjoy, what you are grateful for. Place attention there.

Withdraw your attention from what you don’t like, what feels bad, what you don’t want, what is upsetting, what you want to eliminate or exclude and turn it toward what feels better. Place it on what feels the best. The goal: feel as best you can for as much of your time.

When You Stop Struggling – You Float

If you have to do it 10 times or 100 times a day so what? In the process you are moving from the less than glorious to the glorious. You are shifting your awareness, your attention, your focus, you energy, your vibrations to something positive and good feelings.

You are training yourself to pay attention and enjoy good thoughts and feelings. Eventually, this will become your default setting. You’ll wire in new neural pathways. The negative processes will re-write into positive ones. You’ll develop new success habits of thought.

From a mindset that is predominantly positive you can then accomplish your purpose. Your mindset and attitude, your thoughts and feelings, your beliefs support you. Your act because it feels right. Your actions become inspired and enjoyable instead of dreaded.

Focus: Start Being Positive About What Is Right

Because your thoughts, feelings and actions align you develop positive habits and begin getting more positive results. You have moved from the less than glorious results into new and glorious ones. You trained yourself into having patterns that support you.

So be gentle. Don’t fight it. Go with the flow. When the water is raging go with the flow. People drown more quickly fighting the current. It exhausts them. Going with the current. You can seek to swim toward shore eventually. Keep going in the right direction.

Get it. Let the current carry you too. Use the momentum you create to keep moving forward easily. Stop resisting, keep persisting. All the while enjoy. Delight, be grateful. Discover what you can presently appreciate. Fill yourself with gratitude and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

2 Things Successful People Do That Separate Them From The Unsuccessful

horizons fall-back-phil-koch

“Not everyone who is successful and rich is a nice person. However, most all of them have things they do in common that separates them from the unsuccessful. There a few things they do differently and routinely that are crucial to adopt if you want success. Here’s one.

In order to make any change you want to be permanent you have to wire it in. You have to make it an automatic, reliable habit.  To do this you must overwrite the old habit with the new thoughts, feelings or behaviors you want instead. You must learn the habits of success.

In order to do this you must do the correct things consistently and for a long enough time. That is what ‘perfect practice’ is about. You do the right things for as long as it takes. This IS how you create new habits. Sadly, most people, won’t do what it takes to succeed.

Practice Doesn’t Make Perfect – Perfect Practice Makes Perfect

That is why it has been pointed out that successful people do the things no one else will do. If you want to think better, more productively, positively and powerfully then you must practice and rehearse that thinking until you wire it in. There is no other way.

Do you want to feel better more of the time? Then you must practice and rehearse feeling good consistently and long enough. The same applies to behaviors. There isn’t any other way. You can’t change being a couch potato, taking a magic pill or wishing it will happen.

You must take charge and do it. How long does it take? It takes as long as it takes. You do what you need to do to make the changes you want, and to make them permanent. Let go of the when, the time, and deadlines and focus on developing the thoughts and feelings.

The Difference Between Ordinary And Extraordinary Is Practice

There is a bamboo plant. Once planted it is watered and nurtured for 6 years. The plant remains underground with no evidence of growth. In the 7th year the plant sprouts and grows 90 feet within 2 months. The question to consider is, when did it grow the 90 feet?

Obviously, it must have been growing the entire time. If it wasn’t watered or taken care of it in any given year it would have died. It was always growing even when you couldn’t see it. The same is true of you when you do the right things long enough and consistently.

Success is the same way. Besides taking responsibility for their success those who are most successful enjoy working at it. They work harder and longer than most others. However, they don’t consider it work. They love it. They enjoy it. It is their passion.

Practice Happy Thinking Every Day – And Be Happy

Because they enjoy it they say things like, ‘I work harder than anyone else but I have never worked a day in my life.’ This is important to understand. They feel good about working for success. If you feel good too you will never work a day in your life either.

The more you decide to enjoy the process the smoother it can go. When you are enjoying something you want it to last or you don’t care how long it takes. This is a great mindset. Then it doesn’t matter how  long it takes because you are enjoying it and benefiting from it.

Enjoy the process of evolving yourself. Take control of your thinking and take responsibility for creating your life and circumstances. Do what it takes for as long as it takes. Enjoy the process and keep the faith even when you don’t see results for a while. Keep the  faith!

The Only Way To Do Great Work Is To Love What You Do

You are growing. You really are. You may not see the evidence for a while. One day, you’ll sprout and an entire new magical life will open up and takes off quickly. That is how it can work for you. Just stick with right practice. Develop your mindset.

Learn to think and feel good most of the time. Do what it takes to be successful and enjoy it.  Do what the others won’t and you will be counted among those who succeed. In the meantime have fun. Keep at it. Do the right things consistently for as long as it takes.  Be grateful and celebrate everything! Rex Sikes

Expert Reveals: The Single Most Critical Factor In Success Conditioning

horizons rings-phil-koch

“What makes the difference between success and failure? Is there something we aren’t doing that would change the game? How can we succeed and reach our goals? People have struggles. They try but they abandon their pursuit.

Did you know there was a time in your life when you did anything and everything to succeed? You didn’t stop. You worked until you got there. Giving up was not an option for you. Did you know this? It is true. You worked and continued to work until you achieved.

People asked me, why is repetition important? The reason it is important is that is how you learned as an infant, toddler, child and all the while growing up. As an youngster you worked harder than you ever had and you kept going until you got what you were after.

Mastery Only Comes From Doing It Over Again Correctly

As an infant you repeated movements necessary to roll over, sit up, crawl, walk and feed yourself. The movements that you needed and were successful at you kept. Those not needed, you discarded. You eliminated the unnecessary movements.

Even the unnecessary movements were important. You moved wildly, without control.  You had to learn control. You had to learn which got you to your desired goal. In feeding yourself you had to eliminate all those that didn’t get the spoon to your mouth.

You kept doing it, getting food everywhere, all over you. Eventually, through repetition you learned which ones you needed. Then you repeated those. You maintained the correct repetition to succeed. From random and error you made it to your target by doing.

What We Want To Do With Ease We Must First Do With Diligence

You kept doing over and over again until you succeeded. Failure wasn’t an option. You tried to walk and fell. You got up and tried again. You fell. You got up and repeated what you were doing until you did it successfully. Everything you learned to do this in this way.

As a child you learned songs and nursery rhymes by repeating them again and again. You learned you alphabet, and mathematical tables by repeating over and over. You repeatedly practiced printing letters, then cursive. You learned to read by repetition.

Repetition is how you have learned everything. You learned your name and the names of those around you by repeatedly hearing them. You learned to speak by hearing over and over your native language and then babbling and babbling until you could talk.

Skill Comes Of Doing

Your muscles and strength grow by exercise repeated often. You repeat eating a  number of times each day and you repeat sleeping and waking each day. The piston in your car engine pumps again and again to take you places. Your heart does the same as do your lungs.

Your cells repair and re-create themselves every so often. Your entire body renews itself through the years. Repetition is the way of the universe. Hot and cold, summer and winter, day and night. Tides come in and go out again and again.

Learn to use repetition to your advantage. We have been trained out of it to. We were conditioned for limiting beliefs in this same way. We adopted poor attitudes in a similar manner. Unfortunately, not everything we were exposed to was positive, useful and supportive.

Self Discipline Begins With The Mastery Of Your Thoughts

We got lots of junk conditioning in there and we will continue to live from that junk unless WE decide to eliminate and change it. If we don’t we run on and on automatically reproducing the habits we learned. We continue to live from our limitations and issues.

We listened passively, as infants and children, as the people around us expressed their worries and their fears. We witnessed their concerns and arguments. We grew up modeling and adopting their issues. These weren’t originally our own but they became our own.

Now we need to wake up to the fact that we can deliberately decide to change these. Only, if we attempt to change can we make a difference. Now, we have to do it consciously, with intention. We apply the very same method we originally were conditioned with.

Mastering Yourself Is True Power

Instead of the passive modeling and conditioning  we actively condition ourselves for success. We choose what we want instead and actively install it through correct repetition and powerful emotion. We do it through spaced repetition over time.

We must do it because no one is going to or be able to do it for us. We override the original less than glorious programming for new updated programming of our own choosing. That is how and why it works this way. This is important to understand.

You adopted try and try again, once more, then quit. This was counter to your original instincts which are to continue for as long as it takes to be successful. We learned to want things easy, quick and comfortable. We aren’t as driven as we once were.

Happiness Relies Solely On What You Think

It wasn’t comfortable to try to roll over or sit up and support your body weight but you kept going until you were able to. Crawling took massive effort. Yet you did it. When you walked you fell, but YOU got back up. You didn’t remain down. You kept going.

By comparison we are wimps and wanna bees who won’t put in the effort. We whine and complain and excuse. That doesn’t serve us. If you want something badly enough you will find a way and keep going until you get it. We need to learn perseverance over again.

We need to learn positivity and supportive beliefs and attitudes. We need to acquire commitment and sheer will power. We can and will if we commit to practice and repetition. We can succeed. Athletes do all the time. They have a goal and they go after it relentlessly.

The Price You Pay To Be Great At Something Is Repetition

They workout even when they don’t feel like it. They know motivation comes from doing not by waiting for it. They repeat their mental and physical conditioning exercises. They use correct repetition to become world class. You can be world class too!

It is the mental game for us now. We need to learn the attitudes, the beliefs, the positive thoughts that see us through to the end. We need to exercise our will power, our imagination, our ability to decide. We can do anything once we learn we can do anything.

The first and most important ability you have, that probably no one told you about while growing up, is the ability to control your thoughts and take charge of your mind. Success and happiness starts from within in. It doesn’t come from the outside. This is important!

It Is Repetition Of Affirmations That Leads To Belief …

Learn to control your thinking. Keep at it until you master it. Apply feedback and correction as necessary. You will master it if you keep going. It is good to get a skilled mentor or coach because they can guide you in making corrections. They can keep you on track.

Alone or with a coach you can become a CAN DO person. You can adopt a winner’s attitude and learn what it is like to be a champion in your life. You can learn and evolve yourself into the person you have always wanted to be. You can learn to be, do and have anything.

This is the process. Apply it to whatever you do. Correct repetition for as long as it takes for you to condition yourself with the new thought, feeling and behavioral habits. Once they are habits they are automatic and reliable. It gets easier as you go along.

… Once That Belief Becomes A Deep Conviction Things Happen

The effort is up front. Yes, you must persist. Get used to the idea and stop looking for excuses or magic avenues to change. Be grateful you can change! All the while you effort be grateful and enjoy the process, even when most difficult, and you will excel through it.

Keep your eye on the prize. Athletes persist because the really want to be top in their field. It is important to them. It is a burning desire and they strive to be at the top. If you do too, you will. Enjoy all of it, keep going and you can claim it. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

How To Overcome Failure And Maximize Your Success

Horizons coffees-desolation-phil-koch

“We grow stronger the more we are challenged. Our minds grow stronger the more we use them just as our muscles do. Both atrophy when not used for lengths of time. Use it or lose it is how it is. We must challenge ourselves and grow through opposition.

Welcome to Part 11 of The Secret To Success And Happiness Few Know And Won’t Tell You. The series continues and this post continues from yesterday. I hope you found the first 10 parts valuable. Ready, let’s go. Part 12 tomorrow.

We must grow mentally and physically, emotionally and spiritually. Whenever you begin to change anything, a belief, a behavior, an old habit, all of your old chronic past habitual conditioning and programming rears up. You feel resistance.

Failure Is A Part Of Life – If You Don’t Fail You Don’t Learn …

Some call it paradigms. Our old conditioning is doing what it is supposed to do. Those who don’t know any better call it self-sabotage. You never self-sabotage yourself! You do what you were trained to do! In order to change you have to change your training.

The instant you begin your new training you encounter the old patterns and programs asserting themselves. That is because that is what you previously learned to do. Until you learn the new way it will feel difficult. The old way will continue to exert its influence.

For awhile, it will be difficult. Soon enough, with routine practice and dedicated application, you will overcome the old conditioning and the new conditioning will take hold. You will make the changes you want. Once the new way takes hold it will be just as reliable.

… If You Don’t Learn You Don’t Change

Believe me you want it to be like this! You don’t want the old to give way too easily. If it did you’d be screwing things up every other week. You want the things you learn to be difficult to change for consistency. The brain is smarter than we think.

People who don’t know any better call this process self-sabotage, as if a part of you is trying to thwart your progress. It isn’t! It is remaining your loyal and faithful friend by resisting the new ways. It is preserving what you previously learned to do.

It attempts to keep you consistent. It is a blessing not a curse! Even if what you learned, way back then, was unwanted and not your choice, you learned it and have operated from it. Your brain didn’t care if it was positive or negative, that isn’t its job to decide.

Failure Is Part Of Success – Don’t Worry About Failure …

Its job is to learn and carry out whatever it is programmed to do. To be reliable so you don’t have to keep relearning it every day. It builds reliable pathways to follow. It creates habits. This is WHY habits are difficult to break at first. This is why it seems difficult to change.

BUT it only seems that way. Change can be easier or harder depending on your mental mindset about it. AND GUESS WHAT? Your mindset is habitual too. How you view change is how you learned to view it at another previous time. AHHHHH get it?

This is why changing your mindset and learning to control your thinking is SO CRITICAL because it is habitual too. If it doesn’t support you how you want it to then you must change it. It will keep doing what it always did until you change it. Understand?

… Worry About The Chances You Miss When You Don’t Try

These things are locked in BUT not permanently. Well, they are permanent if we never bother to try to change them. Once we begin the process we encounter all the old thinking, feeling and behaving and that is what we need to overcome.

Inertia is the principle of physics that maintains that a body at rest tends to remain at rest until a larger force acts on it. OR a body in motion tends to remain in motion unless a larger force acts on it. This is why it is difficult to push a car down the road from park.

It is also why it is difficult to stop a car with your hands once it is moving down a hillside. Momentum takes over and you just have to get out of the way at a certain point. We can understand these for our personal changes. When we do it makes things simpler.

Success In Life Simply Comes When You Refuse To Give Up

Beginning a change means overcoming the tendency to remain at rest, or stay the same. Our brains try to keep us consistent. It seems to take effort and it does but it gets easier the more we do it and the longer we do it for. Easier and easier. Still, we have to start it all.

We have to start it and keep it going until momentum takes over. Once we get to that tipping point it is ‘all down hill from there’. Change becomes easier and picks up speed. We can feel the shifting. Until we get there though we have to push through it.

This is true of our mental condition and controlling out thoughts and feelings as well as our skills and behaviors. Changing for success in 99.9% a mental game. Get your head on right and the rest follows. Most people never get the mind game understood and that sucks.

In Order To Succeed We Must First Believe We Can

They don’t get good results because their mind’s don’t serve them as they would like. They put their attention not on changing their thinking but on what is wrong with others, the economy, the environment. They blame others and the world for their ‘failures’.

So they never learn nor change. They can, and maybe someday they will, when ready, but for now they maintain their status quo. They can’t see it yet, and that is okay. When they are ready the teacher will appear. The real teacher is oneself. AND mentors are beneficial.

Changing your mind means overriding the old programming. You can do that. Bit by bit, over time, by repeating exercises and processes that help you do that. Affirmations, Directed Questions™, Visualization, using vision boards all help you change your thoughts.

I Can – I Will – End Of Story

Consistent application of new thought is how you change. Focusing on the positive most of the time is how you change. The first great step is in awareness. Become aware of whether you are mostly positive or mostly negative most of the time. AND be more positive.

Accept and welcome the process. Celebrate the fact that you learn things and adapt. Celebrate that your brain and mind serve you in a variety of ways. Failure leads to success when you apply feedback as an athlete does. Awareness is the starting place and it is required.

Examine your defeat and losses. Once at the bottom the only way to move is up. Those who have achieved great things and great wealth have often done it on the back of great loss and hardship, equal in difficulty as their good fortune is good.

The Key To Success Is To Begin Before You Are Ready

You only fail when you quit the pursuit. Once you stop it is over. As long as you continue you are not failing. Everyone who has ever succeeded in anything has met with challenges. Some seemed insurmountable at the time.

Those who continued on in spite of the hardship, made it through and reaped a reward. Those who did not lost out. What gives the person who continues the edge. What do you think it is? Their mindset, of course? What else could it or would it be?

They control their thinking and do it in spite of the difficulty or the odds. They do it in spite of not feeling like it. They do it anyway. In order to do that they must think it first. They do not let their thoughts or their thinking prevent them. Others will but not these.

Winners Never Quit And Quitters Never Win

Thomas Edison tried over 10,000 times before he found the right combination of materials that produced a working lightbulb. What if he had stopped after 3 tries as most people might do?  We all still might be reading by gas or oil lamps.

The Wright Brothers continued attempting to fly until they actually did. What might have happened or how long would it have taken if they threw in the towel? There are countless examples of people overcoming difficulty and pushing through to ultimate success.

R. U. Darby, who Napoleon Hill references, had a wealthy gold mine that dried up. Dig and dig he did but to know avail. He tossed in the towel, sold the mine and gave up. The gentleman who purchased the mine, hired a consultant who determined that gold was still there.

Fall Seven Times – Get Up Eight

They dug 3 feet from where Darby left of and struck the richest gold vein making the new owner instantly very wealthy. Darby lost a fortune. Fortunately, for him, by his own admission, he stated it was probably the best thing that ever happened to him.

He learned from his mistake and vowed to never let anything stop him again. He went into the insurance business and he learned he would not take no for an answer. He became a wealthy millionaire salesman as a result and he attributed this to missing gold by 3 feet.

If we learn from our mistakes; if we learn from obstacles and our challenges and what appears to be defeat we will learn things of incredible value. These can be positively life changing. Our challenges are our blessings too. We just don’t view them that way.

What Defines Us Is How Well We Rise After Falling

We can. Challenges contain opportunity. Your mindset, your attitude, your beliefs will determine what you see as a blessing or a problem. It will determine whether you think you can or you think you can’t accomplish something. You mindset determines if you try.

The saddest thing you can do is throw in the towel and give up. The saddest thing is to not take control of the one thing YOU can control, you mind.  Learn to control it. Make it work for you. Learn from your mistakes. Find the good and the positive in everything.

When you do you will begin to change more and more easily. The momentum takes on a life of its own. As you find things to enjoy and opportunities to take advantage of, as you feel grateful you discover more. Your brain actually opens up. Enjoy it! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

The Secret Successful People Know About Failure That You Don’t

horizon the-first-horizon-phil-koch

“Successful people aren’t always successful their first time out. You know that of course, right? They may spend years working on their dreams with no apparent success in sight. More over they may face incredibly difficult odds and challenges. Many lose everything first.

Welcome to Part 10 of The Secret To Success And Happiness Few Know And Won’t Tell You. We continue on today. I hope you found the first  9 parts valuable. Ready, let’s go. Part 11 tomorrow.

A successful pro batter in baseball strikes out far more than gets hits. In fact the difference in averages between one paid the big, big bucks and one not isn’t that great.  If you think about it the highest scoring batter fails to connect with the ball far more often than not.

The same is true of basketball players and making baskets. The attempts far exceed scores made. They frequently miss. What sets these pro athletes apart from others, perhaps you and me? Why are they failing so often but still winning and getting paid very well?

Success Is Not Final – Failure Is Not Fatal …

One thing that makes the difference is they understand that in order to hit the target you have to try a lot. The know they will miss more than they hit and they accept that. It doesn’t prevent them from trying. They continue to press on. They keep the faith. They work it.

If they quit after their first miss, after their attempts went south, they would fail. Because they continue on they make adjustments to their behaviors and skill set, they continue to work on getting better and better. They improve. They know they must to compete.

They don’t count the times missed, they don’t focus on the ‘failures’ they record the successes. They understand swinging and missing is a large part of hitting the ball. Shooting at and missing the basket is a huge part of putting the ball in. It doesn’t stop them at all to miss.

… It Is The Courage To Continue That Counts

There is no such thing as failure. Either they did what they attempted to do or they didn’t. They don’t get bent out of shape about it. They keep their mind in check, they keep their attitude in check because they understand something most of us don’t.

Sports is a mental game. Most of winning is dependent on what goes on inside the athlete’s mind. Focus, concentration, not getting psyched out, but maybe psyching out an opponent, attention, shutting out distractions is a major part of their skills in doing.

It is the mental game that leads the physical prowess. Imagine trying to make a basket, hit a run, kick a field goal with millions watching, thousands cheering or booing, knowing the pressure is on. Are you up for that? Some people are and some aren’t?

Success In Life Comes When You Simply Refuse To Give Up

What the pro does inside their mind gives them the edge. Imagine training for four years to compete for seconds in the Olympics. You get a couple attempts, usually, and an average or best score entered in competition. Most who go to the Olympics fail to medal.

There is no such thing as failure to these dedicated people. There is only feedback. They either hit the mark or they don’t. If they don’t they examine what they need to adjust and improve to hit it the next attempt. If they miss again, they adjust for the next attempt.

Some go back after missing and dedicate another four years to improving so they can repeat the process again with the goal of medalling up next time. They commit and learn from their mistakes but they don’t throw in the towel.  Well, some may.

Have Goals So Strong Obstacles Failure Loss Act As Motivation

Those who do quit, they fail. They stopped after missing the mark. The last thing they did before quitting was to miss. Those who try again never fail. Temporarily, they may experience defeat, but only temporarily. They use it as feedback to continue to improve,

You and I face challenges and obstacles, small and large, each day. If you learn from your each of your difficulties you will continue to move forward. You gain valuable information on how to improve and move forward. With that information you can possibly succeed.

Napoleon Hill pointed out that within each adversity, each challenge, each struggle or disappointment,  there are the seeds of equivalent opportunity. You have to know to look for them or you will miss them. If you seek and you will find. Learn from difficulties.

Never Let Success Go To Your Head …

You can learn from difficulties the same way athletes learn from their challenges. If you adopt the athlete mindset you can become a winner much more easily. You must learn to control your thoughts and feelings and to continue on no matter how daunting it seems.

With the correct attitude, and by making the proper adjustments, you can move forward toward success. With the right mind set you won’t stop at failure  but are open to begin seeing it as a stepping stone toward eventual success. All success begins in the mind.

When you look back on your life, or back on difficult times, temporary defeats and attempts to excel, you can more easily connect the dots. You see how or why you ended up as you did from the decisions you made. You can notice your part in it all.

… Never Let Failure Go To Your Heart

Your are responsible for all of it. Once you realize that all of your attempts, hit or miss, you are responsible for, the game changes. You don’t blame others, or conditions or circumstances, you seek to improve what you do so you are better the next time.

I enjoy listening to pros talk about how they won or lost a match or a game, and what they need to do to be better the next time. Listen, if you haven’t. It is all on them and what they can do to improve. Listen, pay attention, the pro mindset is what we need to win!

Never worry about making  mistakes. Mistakes are a part of it, just as misses are, as long as you learn from them. Some people try so hard to avoid making mistakes that they don’t do anything. They freeze. They are afraid they will do something wrong.

Failure Is Success In Progress

Something wrong can always be corrected. It is far better to do it and correct it and learn from it and move forward than to not progress at all because of fear. It sucks being frozen. When you are stuck you are not moving in any direction. That is what stuck means.

Enough for today. We will continue tomorrow. Hopefully, I have provided you with some important food for thought but don’t miss tomorrow. You will want to read on! Meanwhile, make it a point to examine your thinking and your experience. Look for the good.

Look for the positive. Look for what you do well that you can enhance. Realize you have an opportunity to improve and excel. You can update and upgrade. Eliminate the bugs and faulty programming and beginning living as you want to. Find those things to appreciate.

Success Is The Sum Of Small Efforts Repeated Day In And Day Out

Look into what you appreciate about you, others and the world. Bask it in. Feel the positive emotions. After all, the point of life is to feel wonderful. Logic is fine but feel delight and feel joy. Become enthused with your ability to make changes positively. Have fun and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

95% Of All People Won’t Do This But You Must To Succeed

horizons twilight-rows-phil-koch

“From time to time, on numerous occasions, you will experience moments, hours, even days of doubts and fears. You may worry and feel anxiety and  want to quit.

Welcome to Part 2 of The Secret To Success And Happiness Few Know And Won’t Tell You. We continue on today. I hope you found the 1st part valuable. I truly hope so.

If you did please like it or share it with others using the buttons below or your favorite means. Remember, I welcome questions and comments. Let’s continue. Then more in Part 3 tomorrow.

Doubt Kills More Dreams Than Failure Ever Will

It is natural. It is normal. When difficulties or disappointments arise you may want to throw in the towel. You may be afraid you won’t make it, you might doubt you will be successful.

When one joins the military that person knows up front basic will be tough. Even then some are not prepared for how tough. Those who make it through can go on and succeed.

The military doesn’t sell you on how tough it is but on what you accomplish by participating in the program. Most understand service may be incredibly demanding.

If You Are Going To Doubt Anything Doubt Your Limitations

The Military promotes the  end result. You will be disciplined, a patriot, you will help others, fight for freedom. They don’t tell you, although you know, you may loose limbs or life.

What do they want?  They want a few good men and women. Why, because that is all they will get. Better few of quality than many who aren’t. Few who begin any endeavor actually finish the endeavor.

Not everyone makes it through basic training. Still, many do. No matter how tough it is. They go all in. Either they feel they have no alternative but to succeed or it is worth it to them. So they do!

Most Things You Worry About Never Happen

If personal change and transformation is worth it to you you will continue the course no matter what. You will stick with it because you know the end is worth what it takes to get there.

Along the way you will doubt, have fears and worry. You will continue in spite of them. That is what the courageous do. It’s not that they aren’t afraid, they are, but they go on anyway.

Nothing will stop you. So it won’t be all rosy. You’d never learn to manage your worries, doubts and fears if you didn’t have them. That is precisely how you take control by facing them and overcoming.

Worrying Is Like Praying For What You Don’t Want

You prove to yourself you are bigger than your fears and problems. They do not prevent you from progressing and accomplishing your goals or dreams. You manage them and you control them.

Because you face them you become victorious over them. There is no other way. They will not magically disappear. The path will have pitfalls but you will navigate them and emerge the champion.

BUT only if you encounter what would have stopped you before and push through it. Don’t run away even though you may feel like it. If you do at first, come back. Keep going. By returning you will reign.

When You Doubt Your Power You Give Power To Your Doubt

The person who gets back on the horse after falling is the one who learns to ride. Keep coming back, keep going on. It will get easier and easier.

Life is never free from troubles. You get better at handling them. So remember this and determine to carry on no matter what. While you do notice your progress, validate your forward movement. Pat yourself on the back and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

The Secret To Success And Happiness Few Know And Won’t Tell You

horizons instance-phil-koch

“When it comes to personal change most of the programs offering advice and solutions won’t tell you precisely what you need to know. They leave it out. Later, they tell you, if you are having difficulty making the program work, here is why, this is what you now must do. In the next few posts I will cover this topic area and more. Part 1.

It’s more honest and ethical to tell you what is required of you up front than to hook you, reel you in and then tell you, it is your fault it isn’t working. I don’t like that. However, it is useful to capture the imagination of people so they begin the journey otherwise they may not. BUT do tell them what it involves.

Many programs make it seem as if someone or something is going to help you from the outside. The ‘Secret’ will rescue you. Help will flow your way once you learn it. Well, learning it IS fine, but that actually is not enough. One, you must become it not simply learn it. Two, you are responsible for making it work nothing, no on else is.

Be Positive – Stay Positive – You Can Do It

If that sounds like bad news consider this post tough life. I want to tell you how it is. I don’t want to fill you with fluff or mislead you. Personal change and development is not magic. Yes, sometimes it can seem that way but the bottom line  there is a lot of work to do. Many people leave this out. There is work to do! Get over it.

Those who succeed are those who will do it. BUT few will. Many will begin but not follow through and actually accomplish much. Just as most self help books aren’t read past the first chapter most people, will begin, as they do on January 1, working on new resolutions only to abandon them some short time later. Fewer continue on.

Please, don’t be daunted by this, resolve to make a difference for yourself instead of being one of the many who drop out. Promise yourself to stick with it no matter what. Find a way to do just enough to make it possible. Stay with it and don’t overwhelm yourself with too much at one time. Drop by drop the tub fills. Be one of the few!

Drop by Drop – Bite By Bite – Step By Step

There is a lot of work. You are working on yourself to overcome chronic, old negative patterns and habits. You are working on yourself to get out of your comfort zone and overcome inertia, the tendency to do nothing. You are working to change your thoughts, feelings and actions so you can get better results and enjoy more.

You must decide to be in it for the long haul. You must dive in the pool and immerse yourself and not just dip your toes in. At times it will be easy at other times more difficult. That is how it is! It gets easier the more often you engage in the process and the longer you do it just as everything does. All things are difficult at first.

Remember, learning to read and write. There was a lot of effort involved up front. Was it worth it to you? You do it now without thinking about the process. Was it worth it to learn to ride a bike or drive a car? Now it is a reliable, easy habit. In order to make these abilities automatic you had to stick with them and repeat them.

The More We Do – The More We Can Do

You didn’t learn nor acquire the skills overnight and no one tapped you on the head and gave them to you without you applying yourself. In order for your life to be changed for the better you will have to change some things in your life. You will need to engage, and practice, and practice enough until you become it. You become it!

Learning to play the piano can be difficult at first, as is juggling, mathematics, speaking a new language, playing basketball, swimming, sitting up as an infant, crawling, walking and feeding oneself. Everything we NOW do we learned to do. We learned bathroom habits, hygiene and how to dress. Everything!

Consider this: as an infant you were far more tenacious than you may be right now. If you didn’t keep doing until you succeeded you would never have sat up and walked. You’d have starved had you not learned to feed yourself. BUT you never quit. You did everything you needed to in order to succeed. As an infant you were amazing!

Whatever We Want To Do With Ease – We First Do With Diligence

Growing up with others you LEARNED to give up. You LEARNED things were tough. You were TOLD you may not have it in you or you may not amount to anything. Blah, Blah. YOU BELIEVED THEM. You had already achieved so much and demonstrated you could learn to do incredible things, yet, you were influenced by others.

You may have been told you couldn’t learn well, you had a disability. We all got negative messages from well intending people. We modeled out attitudes we learned from watching others and concluded they were right when things got tougher. We tried three times and quit because that’s what we LEARNED to growing up.

Everything you do you have LEARNED to do, well or not, right or wrong. Yet, some people tell others they have learning disabilities. They don’t, barring neurological impairment. What they LEARN from others is HOW TO be disabled, how to make things tough, how to give up. This is what you also learn. You LEARN from messages.

If You Really Want To Do Something – You Will Find A Way

So be willing to work at it and do whatever it takes for as long as it takes and you will do fine. Only, afterwards, but, perhaps along the way, it will become worth it for you. At some point you will look back and notice how far you traveled and feel wonderful about it. It WILL  be worth it. Hang in there. Commit! Do it as that infant did it.

Those who begin and keep going eventually get there. Though the journey may be difficult at times, those who persist arrive. Those who quit don’t. Far fewer get there than the number who start. That is just the way it is. You and I need to decide which statistic we will be. Will we finish or will we abandon? It is up to each of us! Decide.

More in the next post. As always please feel free to ask questions and leave comments. Share these words with others who may benefit. AND Always, no matter what, find a way to enjoy the journey. Night and day are part of the same 24 hour cycle. Life is meant to live and enjoy. Sometimes it is hot, sometimes cold. Sometimes tough sometimes easy. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

What To Do When Challenges And Obstacles Arise

horizons oblivion-phil-koch

“As you pursue you dreams and goals obstacles may arise. Things, people generally perceive as ‘bad’ or unwanted, may come up. Your path could be fraught with difficulty. If so celebrate and continue on.

Of course, you exclaim, ‘celebrate, Rex are you out of your mind?’ The answer is, ‘of course, yes!’ Let me explain to you what I mean. Trust. It is all about trust.

It can be trust in an outer god if you like, but I prefer to put that trust in myself.  So when I mention trust, I refer to trust in you. Still it can be can be trust god or in the universe. Whatever works for you.

Learn To Trust Yourself

Many people don’t trust themselves, heck they don’t even know themselves.  They aren’t yet aware of their resourcefulness, talents and abilities because most of their lives they focus on limitations and negative outer circumstances.

They blamed themselves, others and events. The time has come to stop that. The time has come to take responsibility for everything, whether or not you actually are.

ACT AS IF you are responsible for whatever happens. When you embrace this attitude it gives you great power and control. TRUST! When you are in charge you are responsible. Be in charge. Claim your power by accepting responsibility and end making excuses.

There are opposites, hot, cold, up, down, good, bad. There is day and night, winter and summer. The tide comes in and the tide goes out. There is happiness and sorrow. We need to accept these and work with these instead of resisting them.

You Actually Already Have All The Resources You Need

When you encounter difficulties along the way, a useful mind set to adopt is that it is a test of your strengths and abilities. You protest, ‘but that isn’t real!’ In all probability it isn’t, but it is a useful mindset to adopt.

From neuroscience we know that everything is a matter of our perspective. We don’t actually know what is real or even interact with it. We act on limited information. We are constrained by our own neurological filters BUT we believe things to be as we perceive.

In other words we believe whatever our version of reality it is. But we don’t ever have the whole, complete picture. We have a fraction. So our version is never THE correct version. It is simply A version. It is not necessarily even accurate and definitely not true. It just is.

Consider this, I have discussed it before. Many horrible events that people think they will never make it through, some time later are looked back on and viewed as the most important, significant, life changing event in their life. They see it completely differently years later.

With other events, we are able to look back and laugh. This tells us it isn’t so much the event that is important, although we think it is. It is our reaction to it, our perception of it and the meaning we place on the event. We decide whether the event is good or bad.

So what is the ‘truth’ about the same event viewed differently? There isn’t any set truth. There is only the truth we give it. From our perspective, in one moment in time, it is bad. From a different perspective in another different moment in time it is good.

You Have All The Resources You Just Don’t Know It Yet

So what is it really? The actual event is neither.  The only meaning the event has is what we give it. We judge, we label it. We call it as we believe it to be. Then after a while, we think about it differently. It takes on new significance and new meaning. It is all in your mind.

So consider adopting the mindset that you are being tested. Whether you are testing yourself, or god or the universe is, or it is a random pop quiz, you are being tested. This can help you get through it. The test is to find your strengths and abilities. Cool.

There is another useful and wonderful mindset to adopt.

You are being challenged and it is a game. The stakes of the game go up. Your obstacles are worthy opponents. You want good opponents. A game really isn’t much fun unless there is a challenge to it.

Most great gamers seek the best, most talented, difficult opponents to play with, they don’t want it easy. They want significant challenge THAT is worthwhile and meaningful. Play the game with gusto.

Believing Is Seeing – That Is How It Really Works

TRUST as you move forward on your desires, take action, follow you plans, that as long as you continue, no matter what comes your way, no matter what obstacles and challenges arise that they will eventually go away. Nothing lasts forever. It will again be easier.

The tumultuous path will settle and smooth out. Night will again give way to day. TRUST that these obstacles were important for you to experience. They provide lessons you can discover when you look.

You can learn from  these if you remain open and available to their messages. Welcome the obstacles and challenges and troubles for what you can learn about yourself, others and life.

The Kite Rises Against The Wind

They are their for you to become aware of and discover wonderful things about yourself and your transformation. Your challenges are actually blessings, opportunities, lessons.

Is any of this true. Yes and no. It is whatever you believe it to be. I can’t definitely say there is anyone pulling strings, that isn’t my purpose here. I think all is good. All is divine.

We struggle with moments large and small, but it is all part of one thing. LIFE! It is only the human who judges whether something is good or bad, valuable or not. You can learn to  reframe problems.

Inside Every Adversity Is The Seed Of Equivalent Opportunity

Prior to human consciousness on the planet things just were. Huge tectonic upheavals, earthquakes, volcanos, ice storms and ice ages, violent weather and sunny wonderful days. There was no one to complain or to admire the beauty.

Enter the human. Now there are good days and bad days. There are better days of the week and less desirable days. Humans judge. That is part of our suffering. We make judgements that cause us pain.

TRUST you will get through it. It is easy when you are in a state of let go, acceptance and celebration. Embrace it and if you don’t move through it faster at least it won’t be as miserable.

Learn From Obstacles And Challenges

Resist it and it persists. Fighting it only makes it worse. Stop fighting. If you want to make you dreams come true accept whatever you find on the pathway, learn from it and keep going.

If there is a divine being testing you then that being surely must think you are worth it. You need to decide you are worth it and that within you you have every ability to meet every challenge.

THIS is why learning to control your thinking and thinking predominantly positive IS SO POWERFUL and important! When you take charge of your thoughts you take charge of the results.

When you understand everything has opposites and that IS okay you will have learned a great lesson. When you develop the attitude of a winner, a champion, a victor, and continue undaunted towards what is important to you you will have benefit  greatly!

What You Resist Persists

Evolve yourself into one who is not stopped by limitations but who is able to go on in spite of them. Discover delight in ways you can’t presently imagine. There are more possibilities than you might imagine. Don’t miss out on them because of limited vision.

People who climb everest don’t do it because it is easy. Everything you encounter on your journey IS part of your adventure. Receive it, learn from it, evolve with it, celebrate it and keep moving. If you consider it to all be good it will be. You’ll discover the hidden good.

When you celebrate where you are and what you have you open yourself up for having more of the the same. If you appreciate what you have inside you, and outside in your life you can have more because you create the room for more by your gratitude.

Energy Flows Where Your Attention Goes

What you resist persists. If you always do what you always did you will always get what you always got. If you do the same thing over and over again expecting different results you are a little crazy.

So if you want your life to change you must change some things in your life. You can change and control your thinking, your attitudes, beliefs and opinions. You can control your feelings and feel better more of the time. Wouldn’t you want that for yourself?

When you think better and feel better you behave and act better and are more able and apt to make your dreams come true. With the correct attitude you can be, do and have anything you want in life. YOU can make it happen.  Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

If You Don’t Start Moving You Will Always Be Right There Where You Are!

horizons this-is-the-way-phil-koch

“Some people never begin. The wish and want and hope for change but they do nothing at all to bring it about. Is this you? You can make positive changes easily. Would you like to learn how? If you do these simple things you can get a tremendous amount of transformation.

Obviously, in order to begin you must choose to begin. it Starts with your decision, your commitment to make your life more wonderful and grand. If you truly want this then beginning is easier. You just start doing some things you haven’t been doing.

If you want your life to change you must change things in your life. You can’t continue along the same old pathway expecting to get somewhere new. You have to start the new path. So you begin right from where you are. Right now, right here, is where it starts.

Want Your Life To Change? Change Things In Your Life

‘As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.’ Henry David Thoreau

The reason we want to gain control of our thinking is so those negative thoughts that prevent us no longer take hold. Begin small, find a positive thought, one you agree with and want more of, and make it a mantra. Someone posted, they use, ‘this is easy’.

I like, ‘I can learn to do anything’. or ‘I am far more powerful than I presently realize’. And repeat those day and night whenever you can. Repetition is how the brain learns. Repetition with powerful emotions. So enjoy chanting this out loud.

Drop By Drop The Tub Fills

Shout them, feel great when you say them. DO one every morning and night and inbetween for at least thirty day. Find some supportive inspiring reading material or listening material and partake daily. Drop by drop the tub gets filled.

You can be surprised but how incredible a difference even a little bit of positive control makes. It is all about learning to create new positive habits to replace the old ones we no longer want. Does it take some effort.

Yup, and it is worth it. Affirm, declare, chant your mantra with wild enthusiasm. Make yourself feel good. Jump up and down, skip, sing, yell out loud. Learn that you control how you feel too. Relax, repeat them first thing in morning and last thing at night.

Nothing Great Was Ever Achieved Without Enthusiasm

Create a gratitude journal and list between 10 and 25 things you are grateful for right now, each day. Add a success journal and list those things you do each day that you consider a success. Those things you accomplish that move you forward and make you feel good.

If you do these things and do them regularly, in time the new pathway will become a well worn reliable path. You will have automatic positive new habits that serve you. You will find more delight and enjoyment in you and your life. So begin today!

Appreciate that you are deciding in your favor. That is a reason to celebrate, feel grateful and count as a success. Chose to be a winner and a victor. Chose to be a ‘CAN Do’ person, commit to it and persist in doing your daily diligence. Above all Celebrate everything! Rex Sikes
