How Can You Tell When Your Dreams Are On The Way?

“How can you tell when your dreams are on their way? How do you know when you are creating, making them happen or attracting them? Do you know? There is a way to tell. There is a clear indicator.

Your feelings are a clear indicator of what type of thoughts you are thinking. Your feelings inform you. Remember, what you think about you bring about. What you focus on expands. What you think you become.

If you are feeling good your dreams are on the way. When you are feeling good you are thinking positive, productive, powerful thoughts.  You are in creation mode, attraction mode and when feeling good you have the least resistance. You are most open and inviting.

You Are Most Open And Inviting When Feeling Positive

If you are feeling negative and less than glorious you are working against your dreams. Your feelings are a clear refection of your thoughts. If they aren’t positive and productive what would you expect to end up with?

You are least positive, least creative, and most resistance when you feel negative. You are still powerful and attracting but not the things you want. You are interfering with getting your goals and dreams.

Your emotions tell you whether you are moving closer to your dreams or moving away from them. Your emotions and your beliefs, your thoughts determine the results you get or don’t.

Your Reticular Activating System (RAS)  filters and determines the evidences you get back from the outer world. It ensures that the outer world will match your inner world.

You Either Move Toward Or Away 

So if you are positive and happy and feeling excited that is what you get back and what you experience in the outer world. If your inner world is dark and gloomy your outer world reflects the same. It is simple to understand how this works.

The big questions now IS DO YOU believe this? DO you believe what I just described? We have been discussing beliefs and how they affect you and your circumstances. If you do not believe it that is okay. You don’t have to.

I invite you, however, to act as if it is accurate and true. Act as if, try it on for a while, and find out what you discover. Accept it long enough to validate or invalidate it again. Does what I am asking make sense?

We know what your immediate reaction to the question is. If it is ‘no I don’t believe it’ then I ask you to suspend that for awhile, while you try on a different belief for a bit. Imagine you have a coat rack and you take off one belief as you would a suit coat and try on another one.

If You Think You Can Or You Think You Can’t You Are Right

Wear it long enough to determine if it is a true fit, The reason for this is IF you aren’t happy with your current circumstances or results something is bringing them about. Perhaps, it is your thinking.

Perhaps not. You may already have an opinion. What you need instead of an opinion is an open enough mind to experiment to find out if your opinion is valid or not.

If it isn’t valid you may want to and need to make some changes. You will only know if this works well for you if you are courageous enough to try it on fully.

You Never Really Know Until You Try

To really practice it and find out whether things shift for you. You can’t really know for sure until you actually test it out. That will require an honest test.

But if you are willing to try for at least 90 days then you will have given it a decent beginning try. WHAT! you think 90 days is too long. It is the blink of an eye. But try it for 60 or at the very least 30. You do realize you need to do at least 30 days of honest, intentional trial.

What am I asking you to do? Fill your mind and being with positive, motivational material. Read and listen to positive speakers. Practice with affirmations and visualization daily.

Declare positively, powerfully with wonderfully strong enthusiastic emotions who you are and what you have. Live it for at least 30 days as optimistically as possible.

Set Up A No Whining Or Complaining Rule

If you catch yourself, whining, complaining or making excuses stop it and immediately focus on being more positive and feeling better. Try it on and find out if, at the end of the test time, you don’t feel much better and get better results beginning to come your way.

It is all up to you. Live with gratitude and celebration. Have fun and delight. Speak only to bless, heal, prosper yourself and others. Either you are moving toward feeling good or away from feeling good.

Whenever you notice you aren’t moving toward feeling good change what you are doing so that you are. Take control of your thoughts, feelings and life for a minimum of 30 days. Then evaluate. This makes the most sense to me. So go ahead, do something wonderful for yourself! You might just be surprised!” Rex Sikes

A Lie Repeated Often Enough Get’s Substituted As The Truth

We all have beliefs as you already know. Some of them are useful beliefs that support us and help us do things important to us. Other beliefs we have do just the opposite. They limit us. The interesting thing is that a belief is just a thought. A mental packet of energy.

It literally is just energy. In the body it may be chemicals and electrical impulses. Why do we have such a difficult time with some of our beliefs and behaviors if it is just electrical, chemical, energy? It would seem the answer is in the fact that these mental packs of energy are tied to our feelings.

Your Brain Is As Strong As Its Weakest Think

AND for some silly reason we think (mental energy again) if we feel a certain way, well that is it, it is written in stone. If we don’t feel like it then we just shouldn’t do it. Worse yet, if we don’t feel like it we can’t do it. Have you ever thought about this? We think some 60,000 thoughts a day most of which we thought yesterday.

We are creatures of habit. The same neural firings and pathways get activated. We routinely think and feel pretty much the same, day to day, with some obvious variations. Some things upset the apple cart pleasantly and some not so pleasantly. Something happens and we react.

Even then it is, most assuredly, the same way we usually react. After all we pretty much get mad the same way and usually about the same things. We get excited the same way and about the same things. You name it most of what we do is the same and automatic and it is all due to our electrical chemical squirts and pathways.

If You Really Want To  Do Something You’ll Find A Way

So are we doomed to live this way just because we have? For some the answer may be yes. Sadly, for some they will never opt for anything different. God love them anyways. ‘They know not what they do’. They just never wake up to the possibility that it COULD be otherwise. For them change may not even be a dream.

For others the answer is no, not at all. They can change and become whomever they want to be in life. They can do and have whatever it is they want. They can make profound positive, personal, lasting change that they enjoy now and into the future. For them change is real.

Then there are those who wish. They hope to have a better life but they do not do anything about it. The watch others succeed, have fulfilling relationship and enjoy happiness but they don’t think they can. The hope, they whine, they wish but for them it is only a dream.

If You Don’t Want To Do Something You’ll Find An Excuse

The bottom line is some will and some won’t. That is just the way it is. In the same way we have beliefs that limit us and support us. That is just the way it is. None of our beliefs are necessarily true. We think they are but the reality is they are things we believe.

Have you ever been wrong about anything, ever at all? If you are honest, then of course you have. Have your senses ever deceived you? You mistook someone for a friend? You sure thought it was her but it wasn’t. I bet you can come up with numerous examples.

The point is beliefs really are statements or assertions or declarations about ourself which don’t have to have anything with the truth. We just believe them, we believe that they do. Yes, they could have but they don’t have to have any resemblance to truth for us to have adopted and lived from them.

We Are Creatures Of Habit

That is why we believe things about ourselves that are negative, bad, harmful or limiting. We believe we are screw ups, worthless, unable to do things, bad, wrong and stupid. Why on earth would we EVER chose to believe those things about us. Guess what when we do we feel bad too. Heck, do you want to think and feel bad? I bet you don’t.

Without getting into long explanations as to why we have beliefs in the first place, or how we came to adopt beliefs through circumstances, peers and authority figures, or how they may help ensure survival etc. let us just admit we have them. Let’s also realize all of them are lies.

Lies repeated often enough may get substituted for the truth. If you adopted some of these at an early age and have been repeating them over and over to yourself, in one way or another, you have come to believe statements that can have absolutely nothing to do with the truth of who you are!

Thoughts Are Things

Except for the fact that you have embraced them, believed them and made them your own. You live from them, repeating them now because they are habit. Not that they are true they are just habit. They are reliable and automatic and they serve to keep you the same.

Your RAS looks for confirmation in the outer world thereby continuing the cycle of self deceit. If you believe things that aren’t true about you you are lying to yourself and accepting it as true. If that is the case CHOOSE better lies to believe. Choose lies that serve you to have everything you want in life!

SO while we are at it let’s admit we believe things about ourselves we may be better off not believing. We believe some pretty stupid and useless things sometimes. Henry Ford put it well when he said, ‘If you think you can or you think you can’t; you are right.’ Pretty much sums it up doesn’t it?

Birds Of A Feather Flock Together

There are beliefs we think that begin with ‘I can’ or ‘I am able’ then there are those that begin with ‘I can’t’ or ‘I am unable’. Both result in feelings, different feelings, and both determine how we act and behave and what and whether or not we accomplish anything much. Our mindset determines where we go in life.

You can absolutely change what and how you believe. You can develop new habits. I won’t lie to you and say it is easy it takes some effort. NOT very much but it takes some. Most of the effort is in overcoming the inertia of living a particular way so well you are comfortable with it even if it is painful.

People often times won’t do anything because it is uncomfortable. Change is uncomfortable it shakes things up. It is uncertain. People ‘don’t feel like it’. Yes, part of the brain’s job IS maintaining homeostasis. It keeps everything the same because it has made all those habitual neural pathways to run.

Our Brains Crave Novelty

It loves and craves novelty at the very same time. It is a learning junky. The human isn’t. We don’t like it all very much. We want it easy and ‘hey, don’t rock the boat!’ So many people won’t change because they believe it will be or is ‘too hard’. They believe ‘it will take too much work’ or that ‘I can’t’ or ‘I don’t know how’ or ‘all of this is BS’.

When confronted with the opportunity to change often times resistance comes up. Those are all the beliefs trying to keep you the same. All the reasons why something is wrong, won’t work, why you can’t, why it isn’t worth it, why why why… excuses…excuses…excuses…

Habits, habits, habits. Habitual thoughts you have been thinking forever keep you from living your goals and dreams and having the life you want. If you want to change examine these limiting statements  You can change you beliefs and you belief habits, by developing new habits.

Habits Are Reliable And Automatic

The Secret To Maintaining ‘Good Vibrations’ And Creating What You Want!

“Alright, so the car breaks down and the rent or mortgage is due or overdue. The dryer went out and needs to be fixed as well. Plus, your child just got injured at school.  You work over 40 hours a week and seem to struggle all the time. Things are going from bad to worse.

You think, ‘Why me? How come nothing works out right. What do I have to do to fix this? How can I make more money fast? Now the car and the dryer. I’ll never be able to make ends meet. Everything is always going wrong.’ And you are correct.

You are suffering from a ’60’s case of Haight-Ashbury Bad Vibes. Your focus is on everything that is wrong and going wrong around you. If you keep digging a hole all you get is more dirt. And you are in a hole. You are stuck and will stay stuck unless you switch your thinking.

We Learned How To Be Stuck There Is No Shame In It

Many people are stuck. No one is to blame. That is how most of us live. Most of us grew up with people around us struggling too. We learned how from others. Circumstances can be tough. The world isn’t fair.We may know better but we do what we do out of habit.

The problem is where you put your attention.  Where you put your attention is where energy flows. If your attention and your energy goes into the current situation, the stuck state, and stays there you will get more of what you don’t want.

What you focus on expands. You become what you think about. Thoughts are things. What you think about you bring about. You actually magnify the problem in your mind. You give it energy and that is not what you should be doing. You should withdraw your energy.

‘How’ Doesn’t Help Get You Unstuck

When you try to fix it and solve it you are concentrating on what is wrong and what you don’t want. Your attempts to make it different ‘some how’ help to perpetuate the unwanted situation. Have you ever noticed that ‘bad luck’ seems to follow with more ‘bad luck’?

Things go awry and get worse. You do everything but nothing seems to work. That is because you create more and attract more of the same by what you are doing.  Like thoughts attract like thoughts. Birds of a feather flock together.

If you try to figure out ‘how’ to fix it; doesn’t fix it. You don’t know how. How is the big lie. You and I think if we only knew ‘how’ to make it different it would be different. But, sadly, that is wrong. We can’t make it better from where we currently are.

To break the cycle you must do something that seems counter-intuitive. You must do something that is not easy. It is simple but it requires effort and commitment. If it were easy everyone would have mastered it. You have to switch your thinking.

You Can Learn To Get Unstuck And Change Your Life

Bit by bit you have to move your thinking from your stuck problem state to your wonderful dreams and desires. You inch your way along, trading up your positive thinking. You do whatever you have to to put your attention on something that feels better.

Focus on your pet or your children. Think about something that makes you feel good when when you think about it. Go jogging, take a walk, a  bath, listen to music, read inspirational material, make love, go out for dinner. Immediately, do whatever you must do but put your attention into and onto thinking and feeling better.

Work your way up the ladder of positivity until you feel the most positive. Keep trading up your feelings until you feel the very best. Keep going until you are able to think about your goals and dreams and you feel really marvelous.

This can be difficult for a number of reasons. We will explore more in upcoming blog posts. One reason is because you are caught up emotionally in the bad circumstances. Your emotions are the key to getting free and living the life you want to be living.

Habits Rule Us – If You Want Success You Need Success Habits

To break the ‘bad luck’ cycle you need to take charge of your thinking, and get it under control. You need to take charge of your feelings and emotions. If you want your life to change you must change things in your life. You must change where you put your energy.

You want GOOD VIBES most of the time not the 60’s BAD VIBES. You want to think and feel best most of the time. When you are thinking positive, optimistic thoughts, and feeling good you are ‘vibrating’ good, high energy vibes. You stop vibrating the low, bad, negative energy vibes that are causing your difficulties.

Okay, I am using some metaphysical, hipster language that may turn a few people off but I think get my point. You create more of the same by whatever you think, feel and focus on most. Your current circumstances are a result of your prior thinking. You created it.

To have a new life you must create it first in your thoughts. You bring it about by your feelings. The future life is a result of the thoughts you presently think AND if you think about your dire circumstances your future will remain the same.

You Can Live The Life Of Your Dreams – In Fact You Should

To have a different better future you have to stop thinking about the circumstances, ignore them and think and feel better thoughts. You need to immediately turn your attention away from the negative thoughts and feelings and towards positive thoughts and feelings.

The value in this is that you create the new habit of moving away from the negative, the less than glorious, to the glorious. You condition your mind and feelings. The result is you spend more time thinking and feeling good. Feeling good is the fertile soil where your dreams grow and become reality. (More about this coming up).

When you do this repeatedly over the course of weeks you will build a habit for switching from the less than glorious and the less than productive to the glorious and the productive. You will gain control of your thoughts and emotions and begin transforming your life and circumstance for the better. Easy, no. Possible ABSOLUTELY!” Rex Sikes

Working Harder Doesn’t Make You Richer Or Happier BUT THIS DOES!

“Napoleon Hill in his classic book ‘Think And Grow Rich’ stated the following when it came to the accumulation of wealth. He stated these same ‘money principles’ applied to  fulfilling any goal. Here is what Hill had to say:

‘The steps call for no “hard labor.” They call for no sacrifice. They do not require one to become ridiculous, or credulous. To apply them calls for no great amount of education.

But the successful application of these six steps does call for sufficient imagination to enable one to see, and to understand, that accumulation of money cannot be left to chance, good fortune, and luck.

You Must Get A White Hot Burning Desire

One must realize that all who have accumulated great fortunes, first did a certain amount of dreaming, hoping, wishing, DESIRING, and PLANNING before they acquired money.

You may as well know, right here, that you can never have riches in great quantities, UNLESS you can work yourself into a white heat of DESIRE for money, and actually BELIEVE you will possess it.’

Earlier, just prior to these words he states, ‘Money consciousness’ means that the mind has become so thoroughly saturated with the DESIRE for money, that one can see one’s self already in possession of it.’

See Yourself Already In Possession Of It

There really isn’t much more to add. Hill points out that these principles came from Andrew Carnegie, a self made millionaire, at the time the world’s richest man, and from the study of over 500 hundred of the world’s richest and most successful.

I’d like to re-emphasize a few things. He states it is not about hard work or labor. If hard word and labor made people rich than many janitors, migrant workers and common laborers would be rich. It isn’t working harder it is thinking better that makes the difference.

He named his book THINK and Grow Rich because mindset, attitude, is one of the greatest determining factors for success in attaining any goal. Education was not a pre-requisite. Plenty of drop-outs have attained great wealth and accomplished great things.

Attitude Is Everything

So, in not education or hard work, what did he state was important. Imagination and desire. One had to be able to see the goal as already accomplished. One has to be able to see the good one wants as already theirs. One must believe it is theirs to have and to possess.

Attitude, the unwavering faith that one will succeed no matter what, is crucial. Persistence and planning accompany success. One must never give up if one wants to succeed.

These principles are simple to implement but not necessarily easy. If they were easy everyone would be rich. It requires daily commitment.

Give Up The Standard Excuses Everybody Uses

Too many quit too soon. They fail to realize their dreams when obstacles arise. You must not. You can’t give up and still win. You must persist and prevail. Learn from the obstacles. Adjust your plans, your route, but keep going towards it. Never quit. Commit!

Here is a very important point Napoleon Hill points out, as have other New Thought Leaders, and even ancient texts. You have to know what you want. You have to see the end result. The end result is the Burning Desire. It IS what keeps you motivated and inspired.

You must imagine it as if you already have it. BUT you DO NOT have to know how you got it. Never get hung up on how. The how will take care of itself as you move forward. Once the seed is planted in the mind it begins to grow. It grows in darkness.

Why You Want It Is More Important Than The How 

People use ‘I don’t know what to do’ or ‘I don’t know how’ as an excuse to not act. You don’t have to know ‘how’ but you do have to know what you want. Keep your mind on your burning desire.  Stay focused as Hill prescribes. This is key to getting it. Don’t get distracted.

Your mind will work on it day and night and while you sleep to help you formulate the plans and the hows. That is the brains job. The plan you begin with will not be the plan that takes you across the finish line. Your plans will change. That is okay. Be flexible.

We only know ‘how’ after the fact. Edison didn’t know how to make a light bulb work until it worked. THEN he understood how. The Wright Brothers didn’t know how to fly until after they got airborne. Then they understood.

Hindsight is 20/20

Hindsight IS 20/20. We can see the path only after we arrived and look back. We can look back over our life and see how the decisions we made brought us to where we are today. After the fact we know and understand how, but never before. So don’t use that excuse.

Don’t think you can be lazy and succeed. That isn’t what Hill implies. What he emphasizes is that it is NOT what most people think it is (hard work, education, luck, upbringing, economy, politics, etc.) that determines success. It is not those things.

Most people use those as excuses for why they can’t or haven’t succeeded. Napoleon says the way to riches and success and happiness is clear. He modeled it and studied those who mastered it. Success comes to the prepared mind.  There is  a formula.

Read Think And Grow Rich

Remember, we become what we think about. What we think about expands. What we think about we bring about. Napoleon said, ‘What you can conceive and believe, you can achieve’. Don’t let excuses prevent you from going after what you want.

I leave you with this quote from Napoleon, ‘When you begin to THINK AND GROW RICH, you will observe that riches begin with a state of mind, with definiteness of purpose, with little or no hard work. You, and every other person, ought to be interested in knowing how to acquire that state of mind which will attract riches.’

Implement Napoleon Hill’s six steps for attaining your desires. Read and study them in Think And Grow Rich. This book has stood the test of time. Countless lives have been improved from having read this book. I know mine has. Yours can be too! It is powerful!

Do You Have What It Takes? This Quality Separates The Winner From The Pack

“One quality often separates the haves from the have nots. The winners from the not winners. Those who are victorious embody this attribute. What is it that divides champions from mere mortals, the successful from the non-success? Persistence!

People who have made great wealth are persistent. Olympic athletes who medal, or those who compete multiple times are persistent. These people don’t quit. They’d rather fight than switch, they would sink with the ship.

They will do anything to not fail and succeed. If you want to cross the finish line you must stay in the race.

Many champion athletes have known great heartbreak, injury and setback but have gone on to face incredible odds and prevail. Countless self made millionaires have built fortunes and lost them only to build them again. They don’t let falling down keep them down. They get up, dust of and move on.

Keep Moving Toward Your Goal Step By Step

These champions in sports, wealth, business, and life do what other people neglect to do. They work every day towards their goal. They relentlessly pursue their major purpose and they develop habits to move them along.

They repeat that which makes them successful. They condition their mind and their being for success. They do whatever it takes.

They let nothing stop them. Mistakes, obstacles, that which appears as defeat does not defeat them. There is no failure in falling down, getting up and going on to cross that finish line. The only ones who fail are those who leave the race early. Winners keep moving forward. Challenges and obstacles are part of playing the game.

Successful people may adjust their plans but never give up their dream. They learn what works and what doesn’t by continuously trying. Sometimes they get lucky but it is because they keep going after it until they discover opportunity and advantage.

Successful people persist in the face of relentless opposition. They don’t let well meaning people discourage them from accomplishing their dreams.

Learn From Obstacles And Challenges

The learn the power of focus and have learned concentration and how to tune out and ignore distractions. They use their time well. Habits rule our lives and they learn success habits that support them in their pursuits.

Our habits can either help us to succeed or be the reason we don’t. We need to insure, as the champions do that we have success habits.

Habits can be changed. If you have some that don’t serve you well this is great news. Habits can be changed through awareness and effort. You need to notice when you aren’t doing what you want to be doing and then do what you want to immediately.

You repeat this process. You are aware of starting to engage in the old habitual behavior and you stop, decide to engage in the new behavior you want to become a habit.

You have to repeat this over and over. There are different estimates on how long it takes for a new behavior to become habit. The range is somewhere between 21 to 90 days.

This is great news! Within a relatively short period of time you and I can learn positive productive habits that can revolutionize our lives!

Play The Game Well And Enjoy Winning

When you get rid of the habits that hold you back and replace them with positive new ones your life will change for the better. It may take some time, yes, but it is worth it.  Whenever you begin to engage in the old habit, stop, decide to engage the new behaviors and praise yourself for noticing the opportunity to change. Don’t be critical or hard on yourself. Instead encourage change.

AS you notice yourself engaging in the new habit celebrate. Celebrate everything. A good habit is formed by engaging in the good habit, the correct behavior, repeatedly over the time period.

As the new habits take hold you will be amazed and delighted with the progress. You too, just like the self-made millionaires can make changes and become unstoppable. You can see yourself over the finish line and make you dreams come true!” Rex Sikes

A Secret I Learned To Keep From Spiraling Down And Out During Tough Times

“What do you do when things go awry? What do you do when the fan is hit hard? Times can get tough. There are obstacles and challenges. We all go through them. What can you do? How do you apply these principles to make a difference?

I can tell you what I do. I have been challenged recently in some big ways. Years ago it might have meant screeching to a halt or hitting the skids. Today, it is much, much different. It doesn’t mean challenges are less severe it means, sometimes, I handle them better.

I Take Control Of What I Imagine And What I Say To Myself

When I become aware that I am feeling down and out, or thinking negatively or beginning to wonder ‘why in the world am I going through this’ in that instant I realize I have a choice. I can continue to spiral down or to apply what I know works. I’m at a decision point.

When I am wise enough I apply what works. I give up. I accept that I have no clue what is going on. I let go as much as able and I remind myself ‘things always work out for the best for me.’ I know, it sounds trite but it is actually true. Things do work out for the best.

In the long run, that place far away that we can’t see yet, everything does seem to work out well.  I have written before that many times people look back at the ‘worst time’ in their life and state emphatically had it not been for that time they would not have and enjoy where they are right now.

What We Focus On Is What We Get

I know sometimes we have to really search to find the good or the lesson but it is hidden there as a seed. We just have to find it! When times are tough my mantra becomes ‘things always work out for the best’. I think ‘how come I am so lucky, so blessed and fortunate!’

I turn my attention to what I am grateful for and celebrate as much and as enthusiastically as I can. I make it a point to have faith that everything will resolve in a positive way even if I can’t see it or understand it. Somewhere, somehow, good will come of this.

Whether you believe it or not, whether it is accurate or not, really isn’t the point. It allows me to move through it faster and stay more resourceful. It helps me focus on  being productive and consider what I want and not spend time dwelling on what I don’t want.

Times can be very tough for any one of us. This is one of the best ways I know how to get through tough times. I know that every time times are tough I somehow manage better because between those times and during those times I apply these principles I am sharing as best I am able. Whew, did you get that?

Your Mind Is Obedient Once You Learn To Control It

This is one of the reasons I write so much about building positive habits because they will carry you  once established. There is strength in a strong foundation. It is also why I write about loving and praising yourself through difficult times or when mistakes are made. Criticism and self loathing doesn’t help any.

You know what? I don’t know why shit hits the fan. I don’t know why it rains on the rich and the poor or the good and the bad. I don’t! I know what I might believe about it. I know many different philosophic and scientific answers for why but I don’t know that any are true. I don’t think it really matters to know why.

I prefer to think somehow it is to wake us up. Whether by design or intelligence OR NOT, bad things happen and are opportunities to confront our programs and patterns and wake up to them. These events and circumstances challenge us to become aware and go beyond how we routinely react. So we can move into new ways of being.

The World And Her People Hold Mirrors Up For Us To See

While I may not immediately recognize them as such, I reframe the tough times as gifts. Blessings to help me examine myself and become better. The challenge for me is to look inward and not outward for the solution or the cause. I want to learn to respond with awareness not blame or accuse others or events.

Gifts to become more aware. Gifts to become free. Seems sad sometimes that we wake up through loss and tragedy but perhaps there is no other way to get our own attention. If nothing shakes us up we just go on doing what we have been conditioned to. So I think of less than glorious circumstances as a necessary evil.

I may resist them. Fight them. BUT when I surrender to them I always learn something and grow more. It hurts to grow sometimes. There are growing pangs. AND I certainly haven’t all the answers. Actually, I have very few. What I can have is faith in myself.

Turn Resistance Into Assistance

I can have faith that everything always does work out for the best, somehow in the long run. Then I begin to look for the blessing s and opportunities hidden inside these situations. Whether right or wrong I get more done. I don’t feel so bad and I stay on track. It is helpful for me to consider it this way. Attitude is everything.

Life is a series of adjusting to stay on course. Just as when you drive your car down a straight lane. You are always adjusting left and right to stay within the lines. So why should it be any different in anything else. If I get negative I adjust back toward the positive. I feel better. The more I make the adjustments the easier the next adjustment becomes. This is how habits are formed through positive repetition.

So, celebration, gratitude, looking for blessings and finding them in the midst of trouble is a skill we can develop. This too can become a habit. As said before, habits may be difficult to initiate but once formed they are difficult to break and they will carry you. What You See Is What You Get: How To See It!

“How do you make changes and get what you want? That seems to be on a lot of minds? What do I do? How should I think about it? What if I don’t visualize well? Can you help me? These and other questions I get asked a lot by clients and at speaking events or workshops.

Yesterday, a client emailed me asking how to think about getting a new job. How should she create it in her mind or use the Law Of Attraction to land the kind of ideal job she wants. Should she use a vision board? What can she do?

She stated she doesn’t see her pictures. I thought I’d include the answer here as a sample of what you can do. I said, YES, a vision board can help. Absolutely, this is a great practice. Plus, she has had success using one in the past. SO that is good news.

Writing Helps You Visualize

I also suggested the person visualize what they wanted ‘as if’ they already had it all right now. Life is perfect and she is working the perfect job. Imagine what that is like in detail. Because she stated she didn’t see anything I suggested she write it in a journal. Not only once but write it down daily. This is an amazing practice.

Record what she experienced and how she feels when everything is perfect. Fully Imagine already having that perfect job. Describe it in detail. Write down what she does, who is around her, what it is like working there AND HOW IT FEELS!

I gave her some sample text instructing her to put it in her own words. After all, it is her perfect job, not mine. I suggested  she might write some things like this. ‘I love my co-workers they are so cool. I appreciate how we support each other and interact. I look forward each day to seeing them.’

‘I love going to work it makes me feel extra special. I smile as I approach the place because I know I will have a great day with great people doing work and helping others.’

It Is What You Are Feeling That Is Most Important

‘I love the money this new job pays me. I enjoy having money coming in. Imagine being able to do something I enjoy so much and make good money doing it. I am blessed.’

So each day write more about it. Each day write and feel wonderful for five minutes or more. The more the better. As long as you feel the wonderful feelings while you are doing it. It is all about the feelings you have.

I explained that you write to help yourself visualize what you want and to feel all the incredible feelings you would feel as you live this reality. Remember, you are answering the question, ‘if life were perfect how would you feel?’ What are you doing and what are you grateful for?

We Are Always Using Affirmations 

I then suggested she use ‘I am’ and ‘I have’ statements to continue to create what she wants. Anything that follows ‘I am’ or ‘I have’ is what we experience. Unfortunately, too many people make horribly negative ‘I am’ and ‘I have’ statements.

People affirm what they don’t want all the time. They say things such as, ‘I am broke.’ ‘I have no money.’ ‘I have too many bills.’ ‘I am stupid’ or ‘Why am I so stupid?’ the sad list goes on and on. It is no wonder they keep getting more of the same. Birds of a feather flock together.

I suggested these statements as example. ‘I am happy in my job. I have lots of happy experiences because of the people I am interacting with. I am contributing and adding value to my employers. This always makes me feel wonderful.’

Learn To Use Affirmations To Get What You Want

‘I have all the right talents to work in this arena. I am confident and happy. I love and appreciate everything this job brings me. I attract the right people to me. I am surrounded by good friends. I am brave and confident.’

‘I can control my thoughts. I am in charge. I can learn to do anything I put my mind to. I am resourceful. I have all the money I need and more keeps coming to me. I feel secure. I am creative. I am peaceful and relaxed.’

I told her you can do this! Watch your thoughts and feelings. Whenever you are feeling less than glorious change what you are thinking about to something positive. Stop the negativity. Rephrase whatever you are thinking about into the positive.

Learn to Use ‘As If’ To Create The Results You Want

Your feelings are a great indicator of your thoughts. Your feelings let you know, whether you feel good or not, whether you are thinking positive or not. Less than good means less than positive. Stop, take a breath and change it.

Ask positive Directed Questions™ which lead your mind where you want it to go. If at first, you have difficulty accepting or believing the other powerful affirmations use questions.  ‘How soon can I enjoy discovering how truly resourceful I am?’

‘In how many ways can I find myself feeling blessed and excited?’ “How quickly will I amaze myself to find many different things I feel truly grateful for?’ ‘As I go through my day I wonder how surprised I might be to discover how much fun I can have that puts a smile on my face and a song in my heart?’

Use Intentional Thinking Don’t Be Haphazard

Count your blessings and feel blessed. Take my examples and come up with your own. Watch what you think and say to yourself.  If it is less than glorious or what you DO NOT WANT change it.  Be in charge of your own mind. Think positive and keep thinking positive. Make it a habit by repeating it again and again.

You can do this! Drop by drop fills the tub. Think all blessings! Celebrate and enjoy! You will be amazed at how quickly you can create or attract and live the kind of life you want to live. When you aim your mind positively your mind finds opportunity and advantages in the outer world you would have otherwise missed.

Get your mind working for you. Program it to work for you. Write in your journal. Make positive affirmations and questions emphatically with positive emotion and enthusiasm. Once a habit it will continue to work for you automatically. Great News! DO IT!!!” Rex Sikes

Two Minds, No Names. What To Call Them If We Did?

“I want to clarify some terms here so readers understand why they are being used.  I have used the word subconscious because this is what most thought leaders have used when writing about the mind.

I have used the term autosuggestion for the same reason. These are old terms. In the 70’s we tried to shift to ‘unconscious’ and then to ‘other than conscious’ or ‘para conscious’ or ‘preconscious’ or any number of descriptors to suggest anything other than ‘sub’ or ‘un’.

I have used Maxwell Maltz’s ‘servo-mechanism’ and also called it ‘servant-mechanism’ to help clarify. I particularly like this description. Our ‘other than conscious, para, pre non, un, sub, conscious’ mind runs the show. Estimates put it at 95%-99% on running automatic programs, habits or the same neural pathways routinely day in and day out. THAT is powerful!

The ‘Other Mind’ Is Your Willing Servant But You Must Become The Master

The conscious mind can and does provide some direction in very specific ways that most people don’t yet know. Or they know but don’t use it. Thoughts, mental images, coupled with strong emotion, repeated over time, dictate to this other mind what we want it to do. Good, bad, right, wrong, positive or negative, wanted or unwanted this other mind doesn’t care it just obeys and says ‘Yes’.

I am partial to servo mechanism for this reason. This mind doesn’t judge or analyze. This mind carries out the orders it receives faithfully UNTIL the orders are changed. It is simple to change the orders but not always easy. The great news is THIS MIND is flexible and will carry out the orders we want.

BUT!!! We must give this mind the orders we want in the correct fashion! Then it is our faithful productive servant. Otherwise this mind runs the show with whatever it learned in the past from others while growing up. It is a servant! It does what it was programmed to do. If you don’t like that YOU must change the programming. You can! You take charge and follow through and the results are amazing!

I Have Used ‘Non-Conscious’ To Describe These Processes

Some people feel to call the mind ‘sub’ was ‘substandard’ or a pejorative and unkind view of this aspect of our self. After all, it runs most of the show all of the time. I have played with and used as many different variations as I have come to be aware of. I don’t think calling it ‘sub’ or ‘un’ is disrespectful as some do.

We have conscious mind and then we have the mind that is everything else. I don’t think it matters so much what we call it as long as we don’t call it an ‘it’ (wink wink). I don’t think it matters much. Disrespect is an intention and if one means no disrespect I think there is no actual issue.

Some people think of both of their minds as people. They personify them as they anthropomorphize animals. We have a conscious person and a other than conscious person. A light being and a shadow being. As if some angel or ‘not angel’ is sitting on our shoulder. I do not believe this to be the case.

Not Things But Processes

It seems our minds are a collection of processes or activities that are ongoing. Some, many, most may be habitual. The description I like best of the minds or the brain for that matter is of a jungle. The brain is like a jungle.

I like this because it implies that it is living. Teaming with many different living things. Activity and process, growth and development. It is not merely a computer it is alive and vital. Repetitive it may be but it is living and thriving.

I don’t care what you call our minds. I don’t think they care much either. I think they do care for how you use them and regard them. They are both designed to carry out functions to keep you alive and well. They are designed for you to survive and they will keep you alive even if it kills you. (wink wink nudge nudge).

That other than conscious mind doesn’t care much for positive or negative, want or don’t want ‘it’ say yes to whatever is the case. You say, ‘I am smart’ it says ‘Yes, you are!’ If you say, ‘I am stupid.’It says, ‘Yes, you are!’

Other Than Conscious Only Says ‘Yes’.

It doesn’t differentiate whether wanted or unwanted, positive or negative. It works to say yes to whatever it is you consciously think. If you begin smoking it will keep you smoking even when you decide you want to quit. That is what it knows. It forms habits and streamlines behaviors so you don’t have to think about it.

You decide you want to quit smoking. It runs the old program. Ultimately, you can change it and then it will work to keep your new habit just as strongly. Whatever the new habit is. It says ‘yes’. So if you used to say, ‘I can’t make money’ it said ‘yes’. If you change that to ‘I can make money’ or ‘I am rich’ it says ‘yes’. See how this works.

Either way it will help you do what you want to do. What you have learned to do and it will do it reliably in service of the human so the human can survive. It truly is magnificent. BUT unless we learn to harness and use its power it will run the show. We don’t want that.

Our minds our wonderful. They are divided into conscious and ‘whatever else’ but in reality it is wholeness. Complementary wholeness. One mind functioning perfectly well. Various tasks being performed day in and day out. We have a beautiful mind a wonderful mind and it works perfectly well.

The Thing Named Is Not The Thing

Any name will be a less than an adequate descriptor. So let’s not stew over what we call our two minds. All the things that can be named are not the thing named. Few readers may appreciate this but nothing is it’s label.

It is beyond the mere label. Labels are simply identifiers so we can agree on what we are discussing and are utilitarian and little more.You aren’t Bob or Sue you are called Bob or Sue to identify you from Tom and Jane. It is useful.

If we were all called Steve we would have some difficulty unless tonal variations or additional names helped to differentiate. The same is the case with our minds. No name we choose to call them, for either sets of processes, are adequate to describe them. SO WHAT? Who cares? I don’t. There is beauty in all of this.

The more we understand the more we are able to harness and benefit from the amazing power and abilities. We use our minds to study our minds. We use our consciousness to study our consciousness. There is utter folly and total delight in this, don’t you see.

Learn To Harness The Power Of Your Minds

We are beginning to think, more than ever, that the minds are not localized but spread throughout the body. Some differentiate between brain and mind as in hardware and software. Some don’t care so much.

Some believe that mind is not only not solely localized in the head, but spread through the body. Some even believe the mind is outside the head and body and pretty much everywhere. Infinite intelligence. A mind we tap into.

I’m not certain we ever have precise words to describe these incredible processes happening in and or around us. It may be well beyond us, to fathom. Our language may be inadequate, as it often is, to label these miraculous minds we have inside or out or both.

The Other Mind Works All Day And Night Without Stopping

So celebrate the incredible wonderful power of our amazing universal mind power. ‘It’ is not limited. We are limited in how we think about it and how we use it to think. But we can go beyond limitations.

We can use our minds to go beyond limitations and think outside the box. Samadhi, bursts of illumination and enlightenment are possible to all of us.Increased awareness and awakening is our potential and our destiny. We can observe our thoughts and feel separate from them. We have so many remarkable talents and abilities.

The only thing I know for certain is we don’t know everything yet. We are talented beyond our abilities to conceive of just how talented we are. We should stretch the imagination to go places no one has gone yet. We should think bigger not smaller.

We Can Push The Envelope To Go Beyond What Is Known

We should adventure and explore the outer boundaries of our universe and expand them. Just like available space in your home we will fill it. We can push the boundaries and go beyond them. Nothing stops us except thought itself. A thought!

Never let a thought prevent you from being all you can be.Take hold of your thoughts and make them serve you. Master your thoughts and your feelings to discover who you truly are. Celebrate and enjoy this discovery. Enjoy your minds. They are your servants!” Rex Sikes

This Is Why You Are Getting What You Do Not Want!

“Are you getting what you don’t want more of the time? It seems like you struggle or try to do everything right but it is difficult getting ahead. You want more of the good life but it just is not happening as you hope it would. Perhaps, you get some good results but not consistently and you would like to. Is this you?

Would you like to learn how to make work? You may not like what you learn. However, if you take the following information to heart and apply it appropriately you can make incredible changes and advances. You can make your career, your life, your everything so much better. Would you like that? Then, please pay attention.

You Are Already Doing It Whether You Know It Or Not

Affirmations and autosuggestion are working all the time. Whether you practice them or not they are working. You realize this don’t you? Affirmations and autosuggestion are not things you do but rather things you use and direct. They are always ongoing no matter what.

Affirmations are statements. We affirm whatever is. We can say, ‘I like it’; or ‘I hate it’. ‘I want it’; or ‘I don’t want it’. ‘I am rich’; or ‘I am broke’. ‘I am healthy’; or ‘I am sick’. Affirmations are whatever we declare, good or bad, wanted or unwanted. What are you declaring?

Autosuggestion is the process of repeating an affirmation coupled with strong emotion. If we are happy or confident or enthused and we repeatedly think or see inside our mind and/or exclaim to ourself (self-talk) or out loud, ‘I like it’; or ‘I want it’; or I am rich’; or I am healthy’, that is what we are suggesting to ourselves.

Affirmations And Autosuggestions Are Always Ongoing

Unfortunately, many people see what they don’t want, or what is bad in their lives and affirm these coupled with strong negative emotions. Intense emotions signal the subconscious mind to pay attention and produce more of the same. It doesn’t care whether it is good or bad it just knows to bring on more.

If we regularly do this, if we repeatedly think to ourselves, ‘I am broke’; ‘I have too much debt’; ‘I’ll never get out from under this’; we are suggestion to ourselves the very things we prefer to avoid. We are creating more of everything we don’t want because coupled with our affirmations are the strong signal emotions.

It is autosuggestion. It is the process of suggesting to ourselves what we are, what we do or what we want OR what we don’t want. ‘I am broke’; ‘I am sick’ etc.  If you routinely think and say and feel these things you make them a habit. You are auto-matically suggesting these to yourself. Get it? You are using autosuggestion to affirm.

It Is Not If But When

What are you regularly repeating to yourself with strong emotion? Whatever it is IS habit. You become what you think about most! What you focus on expands! Birds of a feather flock together. What you think about you bring about. It doesn’t matter whether what you think about is positive or negative you bring it about. Get it?

Let me repeat, because this is important. It is not whether you use affirmations because you already are. It is  HOW you use affirmations that makes all the difference in the world. You can’t not use them. It is not whether you autosuggest or you don’t. You are always autosuggesting. The questions is what are you suggesting?

You can’t stop these processes! You can not stop these but you can direct them. Don’t you think it is time you learned how to direct and use these for your benefit? You can make changes immediately. You can change your life right this moment by changing what you focus on and how you direct your mind.

Whatever You Think About Most Is What You Get

If, like most people, you think about your life situation and imagine it and feel really bad you are producing more of the very thing you do not want. If you think,  ‘I don’t want to be broke’ while picturing being broke and feeling awful about it your brain doesn’t pay attention to the ‘don’t’ part of the message.

The brain only gets the images of being broke coupled with the strong feelings. Do you understand? It is what you routinely and regularly and habitually send to your brain in the form of emotional messages that the brain reproduces. You create your reality by what you tell your brain to do. What you see is what you get!

If you act broke, you think broke, you say you are broke, you imagine the consequences of being broke and in debt, you feel broke and you hate it intensely you will stay broke. You can hope all the while expecting something better to happen for you but you will remain broke. What you say is what you get! What you feel is what you get!

You Can’t Get Uphill Thinking Downhill Thoughts

How can it be any different when everything you do supports staying in the very place you don’t want to be in.  Everything you are doing is focused on being broke. You are affirming being and staying broke.  You are autosuggesting staying broke. That is the powerful message your brain is getting most of the time. Get it?

So the brain produces more of the same. It doesn’t know that consciously you don’t want that. It just sees the image and knows there are strong feelings attached to it. The more you repeat this, worrying about bills or being poor the more you reinforce it. It is negative autosuggestion and negative affirmations. AND it works!

People are strongly affirming what they don’t want all the time. They are getting getting what they don’t want. Feelings run the show and make affirmations work. The stronger the feelings the better they work.  This is what IS going on!  So how do you make your life better?

Increase Or Decrease – Positive Or Negative – You Decide

You now know. You must affirm what you do want. You must affirm the positive positively and feel good while doing it.  You must stay focused on what you do want and the good feelings more of the time than otherwise. Is it work? Yes. Is it easy? Not so much BUT it is very simple. If you want it strongly enough you will do it.

If it is important to you to be, do and have whatever you want you will do what is necessary to bring it about. OR you will keep on doing the negative autosuggestion until life sucks so much that out of desperation you finally make the changes. Either way, the process is available for you to direct whenever you are ready to. I hope it’s soon!” Rex Sikes

What You Say Is What You Get!

“Today’s blog is brief and to the point. Put a guard before your lips. Watch what you say. Speak only to bless, heal and prosper. Watch the water cooler talk and watch your self -talk. Do not speak about anything you would’t want to have happen.

Watch the whining and the blaming and the excuses. What you say is what you create. Anything that follows ‘I am’ is what you are. Consider this, you exclaim, ‘I am exhausted’. How do you feel?

Do you feel energized and ready to take on the world or tired and ready for bed? What you say is what you get! If you want energy it would be better to say ‘I am energy’ or ‘I am energized’ or ‘I am feeling great’ or ‘I am awake’ or ‘I am filled with passion’.

It may take a while for you to feel more awake if you are exhausted but it definitely works better to wake you up than stating, ‘I am exhausted, I need sleep. I am so tired. I can’t keep my eyes open. I have to rest. I am beat.’

Do you get it? Anything after I am is your declaration about yourself. It is your assertion. Who do you want to say you are. Many people call themselves losers. Do you want to do that? Then stop it. Watch what you say and only speak positive statements about yourself.

When you do your life will change. Especially, if you say them with passion and enthusiasm. Emotions drive these statements home to your subconscious. Feel the power when you declare ‘I am powerful!’

Do this as often as you can through the day. Be sure to do it when you arise and especially before you go to sleep. Your life will transform dynamically. It will happen as soon as it happens. Let go of when and consider it as planting seeds.

You will get a bountiful harvest. Make it a purposeful, powerful, positive, practice. Repeat it often for 30 or 60 or 90 days and you will have developed an incredible habit. You and your life will change. Do it! Pay close attention to what you say after ‘I am’.

Make it positive and say or speak ONLY what you want. Declare it! Assert it! Shout it! Live it! Be it! Imagine it in your mind and you will soon have it in your life. Everything starts with our thoughts. Speak only to Bless, Heal and Prosper! BECAUSE what you say IS what you get!” Rex Sikes
