Whatever Your Excuse Doesn’t Matter! Part 2

“Have you noticed you can feel stopped by all sorts of things? What we think and say to ourselves has a great impact. Some people never get going for this reason. Instead of making their dreams come true they live life as a victim. Do you? Do you have victim mentality?

If you honestly ended up answering yes, you can change it. That’s good news! You don’t have to live as a victim of excuses and blames. You can become free and begin to make marvelous positive changes that are meaningful and powerful. Let’s begin to explore how!

Start changing all your ‘I can’t’ and ‘I don’t’ to ‘I won’t’ or ‘I will not’. Take complete responsibility for being in charge. Example; I won’t make enough money because I will not. I won’t make enough money because I won’t do the things I have to. ACCEPT responsibility!

Awareness Is The First Step

I won’t be happy because I won’t think positive thoughts. OR I am not going to get healthier, any time soon, because I refuse to eat right. I will not get a raise because I will not do what is expected of me at work. I will not be good at basketball because I won’t practice.

Take FULL responsibility for not being, doing and not having. Accept that it won’t happen because YOU won’t make it happen. No blames, no excuses simply shoulder the responsibility. Convert all your can’ts and don’t’s to won’t and will not. If YOU won’t then YOU won’t.

I can’t be rich because I won’t work at it. I won’t be rich because I will not do what is necessary. I am not going to be happy because I will not take control of my mind. I will not be healthy because I will not eat right, exercise right or sleep right. I am not going to ___________.

The Second Step Is Understanding

OWN up to not being, doing or having what it is you want! Understand if you want to be, do or have anything in life it is up to YOU. It is not going to happen without YOU making it happen. YOU are the one who determines your own happiness and success.

Take all your excuses and blames and reasons why YOU can’t be, do or have, why life isn’t grand, and convert them to ‘I won’t’ or ‘I will not’ statements and notice what is different.  WRITE these out. Notice what happens when you change them. Notice how you feel.

Notice if and how things shift. It may feel very foreign or uncomfortable. You may fight or resist trying these statements on but do it anyway. If YOU can’t do it then you must! Realize you must put yourself in the driver’s seat if you want to get anywhere.

Beliefs Create What Seem Like Facts – They Are Beliefs

Besides, the only way you couldn’t write these is if someone tied your arms down or removed all writing implements and locked you up so you couldn’t write them out. Otherwise, you are more than capable to make these adjustments to your excuses list.

Of course, there are those of you who didn’t do the exercise from my last post, to begin with. Why not? Didn’t want to. Seemed silly. I already know it. Didn’t have time. What was the reason you didn’t do it fully? Why not? Own up to it.

The bottom line is you chose not to for whatever reason. Own your decision. Each second we have a choice. Each second we come up with  reasons for the choices we make. Whether they are valid or not is a separate issue. We believe they are. Hence, believing is seeing.

If You Think You Can Or You Think You Can’t – You Are Right

We act as if these limiting beliefs are the truth. They aren’t but we think they are. As long as we maintain limiting beliefs we will be limited. Don’t you think it is time to change them? Do the exercises and we’ll discuss more in the next blog post.

Once you convert your I can’t, or I am not able to, or this is what prevents me to I won’t or I will not THEN hang in there. It can be upsetting or it can be liberating. You are challenging assumptions and beliefs you have held for a while. It takes a bit of time to adjust.

Realize this, whatever you discover can be wonderful. Even if it is painful at first. Look at it and understand you don’t have to be limited. You have the opportunity to change in wonderful ways. Sit with it, even if it is uneasy. Relief is coming!

Be Willing To Explore Discover Become Aware And Understand

You will discover how marvelous you truly are. You are marvelous with imperfections and flaws. Embrace yourself and be gentle with yourself. Understand it is only old conditioning, it ISN’T YOU who are limited. Beliefs either support us or they don’t. It’s the beliefs!

Most of us weren’t brought up told we can choose. We were brought up believing we had to be the way we were. We had to accept what we think and believe as the truth. The TRUTH is we aren’t our beliefs but we operated from them as if we were. We can change them!

As we choose more supportive and productive and positive beliefs we transform delightfully. As we accept responsibility for everything, without blaming ourselves or outside ourselves, it frees up our energy to find opportunities so we make good things happen.

Always Believe Something Wonderful Is About To Happen

This is a journey of discovery and exploration. This is all about becoming aware. Great changes can occur and you can get anything your heart desires. Let’s clean some house and make room for the new, good stuff. Do the exercise. Learn what you learn. Be grateful, enjoy and delight. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Whatever Your Excuse It Doesn’t Matter!

“Do you want to be happier? Would you like to be healthier? Want to book more work? Are you seeking the career of your dreams? Do you want fame, fortune and success? How about love? Wouldn’t you enjoy a deep loving relationship? Whatever it is, what do you want?

Okay, great. How come you don’t have it yet? Why aren’t you experiencing it right now? I bet you know. I bet you have already answered that question in your mind. What was your answer? Go ahead write it down. Write all the reasons down. Part 1.

Let’s do an exercise. Let’s do something that will reveal a lot about you and help you aim your thoughts and efforts toward success and what you want to accomplish in your life. Write down all those reasons why not; why you don’t have what you want.

As Our Awareness Grows – So We Grow

I can’t be successful because I don’t have enough money. I can’t be happy because I don’t know how. I can’t be successful because I am not educated. I can’t become successful because I don’t have the right connections. I can’t make it because I am not pretty enough.

I can’t become rich because I am not smart enough. I can do what I want because I am a single parent with responsibilities. I can’t be healthy because I like sugar too much. I can’t go to the party because I don’t have nice clothes. I can’t learn because I have a disability. I can’t concentrate because I have ADD. I can’t, I can’t I don’t, I don’t!

Awareness Like The Sun Shines On Things – They’re Transformed

Go on. Answer. Keep answering. I bet you have multiple answers for each. Dig deep. Keep going until you exhaust the possibilities. Notice what you find and how it makes you feel. Do you like what you feel? Notice what you notice. This is an opportunity to become aware.

Did you get some answers? I bet most of your answers are one’s you have told or said to yourself and others many times over and over during your lifetime. These reasons are excuses and blames for why you aren’t where you want to be yet. These reasons are your story.

These answers are the stories you have been telling and believing and creating over again and again in your life. It is comfortable even if it hurts. You are used to these. These are thought habits. Chronic, old thought habits which may or may not have originated with you.

Awareness Allows Us To Observe Ourselves In Action And Change

This is the very thinking you must stop and change. This is the very negative thinking you must switch to positive. You must eliminate the why’s you are not able, the blames and the excuses and all the reasons for why not and begin to emphasize what you can do.

In the next post I’ll share with you some of the powerful approaches you can take to eliminate the negative, focus on the positive and make your goals and dreams come true. Meanwhile, do the exercise. Discover your excuses. Dig deep. Enjoy the process of illumination.

If You Want To Change But Don’t: This Is What You Must Know And Do

“Do you know why most people don’t make positive changes and get the life they deserve? They want to, they really want to. Wanting to is not enough. Here is what you need to know and do. Wanting only leads you to where the possibility to change exists. It’s a beginning.

Recently, I shared what holds us back. Automated processes that run on and on, outside of our awareness, that lead to less than glorious feelings. While some think of it as obstructive it is not nefarious. It is not sabotage. That is what our subconscious does.

It runs impersonal, learned processes that are outside of our control, for the most part, unless, we deliberately learn other ones instead. These habits of thought, feeling and action that are triggered by outside and inside events and circumstances. We react.

Today You Are Where Your Thoughts Brought You

One thought leads to another. A thought leads to a feeling. The feeling leads back to another thought of a similar kind. Like attracts like. Birds of a feather flock together. How we feel often, most usually, determines how we act and if we act.

As we engage this process enough, repeatedly, through time they become our habits. We routinely think, feel and act, OR NOT, certain ways, positively or negatively. Either these support us or they do not. These habits determine our results in the world.

If we don’t like the results we are getting it can all be traced back to our thoughts, our beliefs, our mindset and attitudes. This is precisely why, for centuries, thought leaders have emphasized taking control of your mind and learning your power to do so.

Tomorrow You Will Be Where Your Thoughts Take You

We are absolutely capable of making positive changes and learning new habits. More difficult are the evolutionary processes such as fight, flight or freeze but even these can come under some control. We can manage the affects of these more than previously believed.

The processes that govern our results are changeable, manageable and controllable, when you learn how.  Using our perception, our ability to reason, our imagination and will power we can intelligently make changes that serve us powerfully and positively.

Just as you learned any skill, learning to control your thinking and feeling is a skill. It is completely do-able. You are capable. It requires patience, dedication, understanding, perseverance and awareness. Awareness is the first step to change. Awareness comes first!

You Cannot Escape The Consequences Of Your Thoughts

We only change that which we know, are AWARE of, or perceive needs changing. Then we can intelligently REASON and decide that we must actually change. When we CHOOSE to take responsibility for our thinking, for everything in life, we take a major step forward.

Even if it isn’t true that we are responsible for everything in life that happens to us or involves us; even if we haven’t control over all of our circumstances it can benefit us to ‘act as if’ to ‘think as if’ we do. To do this without blaming ourselves or others is powerful.

It organizes our perceptions, helps us marshall our resources. It puts the ball and everything, in our court so we can think and work to make changes if we don’t we live as a victim to happenstance. It is far more beneficial to live powerfully than helplessly without hope.

Life Is 10% What Happens To You And 90% How You Respond To It

When one thinks as a champion victor one feels as a champion victor does. Hence one behaves and can get the results of a champion victor. Sure, there will be obstacles and problems but the champion victor takes care of them along the way. It doesn’t stop the victor!

It doesn’t prevent the victor! Everything is line up, aligned and congruent for moving forward positively. This awareness alone is dynamic and perhaps the most needed change anyone can make. Live as an emperor not hopeless and helpless. Live powerfully!

Take control of the power between your ears to make changes in the results you get. Live effectively. Stop making blames and excuses and start living the way you want to be living. It begins with mindset. It starts with controlling our thought habits so they serve us.

Better To Get Hurt By The Truth Than Comforted By A Lie

When it comes to creation, making things happen, getting goals, manifesting, attraction or vibrating in alignment, whatever words you choose to describe the process, being congruent is crucial. That is why it pays to get rid of all junk thinking and negativity.

Most people think of something they want and their habitual patterns of thoughts leap in stating you can’t afford it, your not good enough, you don’t deserve it. Others can have it but not you. Why bother? You aren’t the type of person who does that, and on and on.

These thoughts use up our creative energy because they operate under threshold much of the time. Just like my thoughts about how the woman in the lap pool was the problem. We must become aware of our routine, habitual, less than glorious thinking.

Still – Nothing – No One  – Can Hurt You – Without Your Permission

Then we can begin to change. Awareness opens the door. Once we become aware there’s an issue we need to address it and take care of it. We need to stop it AND make a better choice.  It is a choice. It is ALWAYS a choice. It is in our control and up to us to be different.

Most people won’t make the choice because they think it too hard. They don’t feel capable. Prior, bad thought habits. This is why it is first crucial to identify that you are not thinking powerfully. This is why it is necessary to point out the negativity again and again.

The message signal value has to be strong and loud enough for the individual to think, whoa, maybe I ought to try to do something differently. The person needs to become aware of what is holding them back. What IS the problem to be solved? Get it?

Be A Product Of Your Decisions Not Of Your Circumstances

If you don’t know there is a problem you won’t do anything to change it. Most people put the blame outside themselves so then they never have to address it. If you take responsibility for everything, everything is up to you. Now, you are in charge.

Once aware you have a choice. I f you choose to be different you will be. It requires will power I won’t kid you. It doesn’t happen over night, although it could potentially. Be prepared to condition yours mind for good mental health as you would your body.

You have to eat right, exercise right, sleep right consistently, repeatedly, long enough over time to get in shape and then to maintain it. The same is true about controlling your thoughts and feelings and taking charge of your mind. Step by step you move.

Everything You Want Is On The Other Side Of Why You Can’t

You condition your body AND your mind bit by bit over time. If someone is obese and doesn’t notice it affecting their health, or blames everything else for the issue then they have no power to change it. We have bought into societal memes, too.

We are told things aren’t our fault. It is genetics, it can’t be helped. It is the environment, our education or lack of it, the parents we have that are responsible. Our upbringing was less than glorious. All sounds plausible hence we buy into it. It is limiting programming.

We’ve been told this since birth. We’ve been misinformed, led astray, For each example one can use to prove the above case ‘true’ one can find counter examples of people who have changed in spite of every possible odd being against them. We are remarkable! We are!

Whether You Think You Can Or You Think You Can’t You Are Right

Sadly, most of us don’t think we are. We have been conditioned to believe we are not powerful or strong enough. I won’t get into why this may have happened here. Suffice to say our power has been usurped in so many ways. It is time to claim it back. Use it or lose it!

You will be glad you did. Once you begin to notice the results you are able to get with a renewed, transformed mind you’ll wonder what ever took you so long. However, you’ll be too happy celebrating the new changes to regret the time it took. It happens when it happens.

You’ll enjoy glorious new feelings and a positive outlook. All of life becomes marvelous even when, or if, circumstances don’t because you aren’t dictated and controlled by circumstances any longer. Those can and will change too. YOU determine your course.

I Have Failed Over And Over In Life And That Is Why I Succeed

If it is ever going to happen it will be completely up to you and the decision you make. No one can think your thoughts for you. They can provide you with thoughts and programming, as they already have, but they can’t think your thoughts for you. Do you understand this?

It is up to you to decide whether you take your power back or forever continue to act out of how you were previously programmed when you didn’t have a choice. Are you going to live from the beliefs and limitations you learned as a child? I hope not.

Some of those did serve you. Yes, they protected to. They kept you safe and/or they kept you from trying. Or they comforted you when you tried and gave up. Sure, those beliefs served a purpose. To insure you don’t travel too far. To make sure you don’t head the pack.

To Move A Mountain Begin By Carrying Away Small Stones

You decide. Decide now! Do you want to live from chronic, old, prior, limiting, conditioning, most of which you absorbed prior to five years old, OR do you want to begin living as the person you deserve to be? Don’t you want to find the real you hidden in there? Discover you!

There is no better time than now to act. Begin now, start, and learn along the way. When it is completed will you be able to look back and connect the dots. So be courageous, take control of your life by taking control of your mind. DO it Do it now. Awareness first.

Then use your imagination to begin to see, hear and feel the you, you already are within, that you want to be in the real world. Begin to imagine living the life you have always wanted. See, hear and feel yourself ‘act as if’ it is all absolutely real. Stick with it. Stick with it!

People Don’t Lack Strength – They Lack Will

Will power is necessary. Some things, like the Chinese Bamboo plant, don’t show up for quite some time. Stick with it. Be passionate, have faith. Become convinced you can and will do it and you will. You attract and make happen what you ARE – not what you want.

People want all sorts of things they learn to live without. That is from their habitual mindset. Become the change you want to experience and you will have what you desire. You will transform yourself by the renewing of your mind. Get it? You do it! YOU!

“It is a lesson which all history teaches wise persons, to put trust in ideas, and not in circumstances,” said Ralph Waldo Emerson. Don’t give circumstances the power, claim it back. Learn to dictate what the circumstances will be. It begins with controlling your thoughts.

Exercise Your Power And You Release The Power Of Life Energy

Take charge. Focus your mind. Feel the best! How do you feel the best? Think the thoughts that produce those feelings. Put your attention on what you have to be grateful for. Stay focused. Thought leads to feeling and feeling leads back to similar thoughts.

Change your life thought by thought. Step by step. Fill your mind with CAN DO power. Enjoy, delight! Think right and feel WONDERFUL! Keep doing it over and over and before you know it this all becomes your new habits. Your new results.

Practice success until you are successful. Act as if! Be it NOW! and celebrate! When you do this consistently, long enough, everything can and will change for the better because YOU ARE DOING IT! YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF IT! So enjoy life now and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Why Not Begin Living Your Dreams Today?

“Why not make today the day to begin living your dreams? Why not start pursuing your passions and greatest goals? Don’t you think it is about time you discover how absolutely incredible you are? You were born to excel and be wonderful!

You are wonderful. You have so many resources you aren’t aware of. Oh, sure, you know about some, but there are so many more within you. You just didn’t know to look, or you have looked in other places. All are within your grasp but you may need to look differently.

Why not live the incredible life you deserve? Life is multi-faceted and glorious. If you look you can see a gorgeous world. Why not make your life gorgeous too? Why live as less than the powerful person you truly are?

When You Stop And Look Around  – This Life Is Pretty Amazing

Some people have let life beat them down. Some have let circumstances take the wind from their sails. Sometimes the path is rocky and treacherous but not always. Life has ups and downs. The sea rises and falls. The wind blows hard and almost not at all.

Each of these changes are movement. Seasons come and go. Night becomes day, cold becomes hot. Goods times turn sad. Troubles give way to increased delight. Everything passes. Life IS flux. There is no reason to think you are stuck. Everything is moving.

Why not make today the beginning day of a new attitude? Start with a renewed sense of joy and determination. Look within for all your good bits as well as outside for that to enjoy! How about you find some of all the many reasons why your life can be beautiful.

Constant Repetition Results In Conviction – Believe In Yourself

Even if you aren’t convinced, at first, the more your pursue these notions; my life is beautiful; I am wonderful; everything can be a blessing; I can find a way; you will. Why not put a smile on your lips a song in your heart and a dance step in your feet.

Move forward in a new way. Enjoy who you are. Enjoy what you have. Enjoy what is yet to come. Enjoy making it happen. Enjoy believing in yourself. Enjoy co-operating with others. Enjoy creating new positive ways to be. Enjoy everything. You can begin right now. Find the good and the new today. Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

How To Stop Screwing Yourself Over And End Self-Sabotage Forever!

“Do you ever feel that despite your best, even your strongest, intentions, that some how you screw up? You go counter to what you want. You somehow sabotage your own efforts? Ever feel like that? You want to do something, but you don’t, or you do the opposite?

Here is a real life example of an important principle. I took some things to my son’s school this morning. While returning home I decided that at a particular intersection I would go straight to avoid traffic that was sure to be down the road to the east.

I drove thinking about upcoming meetings and activities. I got to the intersection turned right and headed east. Immediately, I became aware that I did not do as I had hoped and intended. Instead of going straight I automatically went home the way I normally would.

You Know More Than You Think You Do – Trust Yourself

I chuckled and thought okay, traffic or not here I come. I patted myself on the back for doing what I normally do automatically and suggested to myself to co-operate with the intentions I wish to set. BTW, there wasn’t any traffic. It was completely clear.  A surprise.

I realized that even while I intended to set a new course to avoid traffic my brain took me the old way, anyway. Here is the important point I am endeavoring to make. My brain did not sabotage me. It did what it normally does. It did the right thing! It took the normal route.

In spite of my intention it did what it reliably does. It was working as it was supposed to. I could get upset and angry and think that my intentions had been thwarted by a belligerent subconscious but that is not the case. It followed neural pathways and habits. It was good.

You Already Work Perfectly Well – Stop Fighting Yourself

It IS good! Many people buy into the notion of self sabotage. That is not the case at all. The sabotage explanation is not the most beneficial, nor useful, nor accurate description of what is occurring.. BUT it  does serve to fill therapist offices and sell lots of books.

We are not enemies of ourselves. Unless you believe you are. If you have that belief, change it. Our brain looks for supporting evidence for whatever we believe and think. You’ ll find examples for whatever you believe. Believe things that support and uplift you.

Sabotage is a label or description of a process. It is calling a process a thing. It is a judgement. If you remove the judgement and see the process for what it is, or what they are, then you understand there is no malevolent intent by your inner self. It is all good and all friendly.

Accept Yourself – Believe In Yourself – Realize You Are Amazing

Your inner child does not hate you! Your subconscious isn’t trying to screw you over. Get it? We are dealing with processes that run outside of our conscious awareness. They are reliable, predictable even. They run like clockwork because that is what we learned to do.

When we decide to change that is a new conscious decision. It is not unconscious yet. It is a new thought about what you want to do. You need to make this intention unconscious if you want to change. You need for your subconscious mind to GET the new intention!

Once it GETS IT, once it understands it, it becomes the new way to be. Obviously, your subconscious isn’t getting it the same way you understand things. It doesn’t work that way. It works by conditioning, repetition, exposure, deliberate practice to get it.

Start Trusting Yourself And You Will Know How To Live

It isn’t intellectual knowledge as when you go, ‘AHHHH okay, I get it.’ That is something entirely different. You get the point, the story, the joke but your unconscious doesn’t understand language that way. This is why feelings are so important in programming your mind.

My conscious intention was to do something else. I intended to go straight but while lost in thought I did what I normally would do. There’s no one to blame. Here’s the lesson: If I had wanted to go straight for certain, I needed to pay more attention to the process.

I needed to deliberately and consciously attend to my driving and my intentions. Even then, I may have had to override the tendency to turn. Who knows? To make sure I did what I wanted to I had to work the process. I had to be alert. I had to make it a matter of will.

Cooperation Is The Key – Cooperate With Yourself 

Do you understand where I am going with this? My brain didn’t foul me up or try to harm or prevent me from succeeding in going straight. It did what it was conditioned to do. Thank goodness because that is what we want our brains to do! Our brains work.

I wanted to change things but I didn’t insure I was attentive to the process. So the brain did what it always does. Hooray! Thank goodness for that. All is good. I learned, I need to pay more attention. I honored, myself for working perfectly. Hooray,  Hooray!

Our subconscious is like a huge ship and its power system, the engine. Our conscious mind is like the rudder. The rudder turns the ship. If you want to steer the ship you have to keep at the steering of it until, and after, it is going in the direction you want. You keep at it.

If You Realized How Powerful Your Thoughts Are …

Most people want to change but don’t do what it requires to change. They have been conditioned to be lazy, to want it easy, to have someone do it for them. If you want changes YOU have to make them and keep practicing them until they are yours forever.

It is a win/win. Here is the understanding I hope you derive. When we set goals and go after what we want we are using our conscious mind. If we want to be more happy, confident, relaxed or make more money, buy a new car or whatever it might be. We set it consciously.

Since that is the new change we want to make we need to focus on it and be sure we do what we intend to. Otherwise, we may discover ourselves doing as we had always done. No sabotage just prior chronic habitual conditioning playing out. Be happy to be aware!

… You Would Never Think A Negative Thought

Instead, of fighting yourself or blaming, learn to befriend yourself and co-operate with yourself. Love and honor yourself for working perfectly well. Yes, you ran the old conditioning yet again, but in time, with awareness you will change it. Keep at it! You’ll do it!

Eventually, the new program will take hold and become as automatically reliable as the old programming. Get it? So whether it is taking control of your mindset and thinking more positive thoughts or feeling happy more of the time you will as you keep at it.

Correct repetition is how we lay down the new neural pathways and habits. Yes, we need to do it enough times, and long enough, in order to wire it in. Just as we learned to do anything. Celebrate that you know you can change if you will stick with it. This is great news!

You Can Make Your Dreams Come True – Trust Your Subconscious

It may require some strong will power at times. That is a good thing, We all can stand to be stronger. After all, life offers many different experiences for us to grow and develop from. Enjoy, accept and allow everything. It is perfect, after all, if you decide it is. It IS!

You can change your beliefs and attitudes to be powerful and positive. You can feel joyous and delighted much more often. You can learn new skills and behaviors you have always wanted to and you can get the results and things you desire. This is excellent news!

If you are learning to Pay Yourself First, and Save and Invest, if you are learning your money management skills and it seems difficult at first, that is okay. Your prior programming wants to keep doing what it has always done to serve you. YOU are the one changing things.

Accept Yourself – Love Yourself – Be Good To Yourself – Enjoy You

Stick with it and you will make the changes. You are training your brain that you want these new thoughts and feelings and behaviors. Your brain will get it eventually. You just have to stick with it until it does. Once it becomes the new habit it is yours forever. Hooray!

Lighten up. Believe you can and you will. Your brain will support you in that. IT is your friend. It is time you become your brain’s friend. The same goes for your body. Befriend yourself! Love yourself. Feel gratitude and appreciation for everything there is!

You will discover an immense new, wonderful world open up to you. As you stop blaming and start appreciating how you actually work from the inside everything will get easier. You will find greater cooperation between your intentions and inner processes. Respect, honor, and love yourself for how you work and for being you. Accept yourself through and through. It Is Time To Create Your Own Success Story

“It is the end of the work week. Relax a bit and enjoy! Savor the free time you have. Enjoy. Smell the roses. Let go of any stress and simply be in the moment! Breath! Take this time for yourself. Think, ‘Yes!’

I’ll give you more useful information, principles and practices you can apply! Remember, to know and not to do is not to know. The proper fruit of knowledge is action.

Immediately Apply Whatever You Learn Within 24 Hours

Take some positive action step within 24 hours. That is the very best, and most sure fire, way to begin to incorporate your new learning and behaviors. It is critical to act quickly.

Most people, don’t. Never let 24 hours go by on your first action step without implementing it. Most people, if they don’t  act within 24, or 48, or even 72 hours, they never will. It is sad for them.

It was a nice piece of information but nothing changes. They learned about something but missed the opportunity to transform their life. That is how it works. So today. Take these actions. You will be glad.

For today, look back over your week and track you successes. Acknowledge those things that you did that you consider a success. Anything can qualify. Remember as many as you can. Start now.

Celebrate Celebrate Dance To  The Music

You took the dog for a walk. You did the dishes without being asked. You picked your socks up off the floor. Large or small take inventory and give yourself some credit. Take stock and deliver some praise.

We improve when we track our efforts. So look for your successes, note them, write them down so you can appreciate them and build on them. Feel your successes. Keep a daily success log or journal.

Play to win the inner mind game. Develop the attitude of success by counting more things as successes each day. Take the wins. Feel the wins. Really, make it a point to feel good about these.

Drop By Drop The Tub Fills

Look around at what you are grateful for and feel it. Express it. Thoughts are things!  Our words are more energized thoughts. Say it, because what you say is what you get. Write it down too!

Enjoy and celebrate all the people you hold dear, the things you have, and the events you delight in. Look at your present circumstances and find all the good to be grateful about.

Have a fun, easy going time reflecting on how good things are. Notice what is going right. Find what is working. Look at all the things you have to be thankful for. AND be thankful!

Big Things Happen One Day At A Time – What Will You Do Today

Look at how successful you have been and enjoy all of it. Emphasize and accentuate the positive. Feel it. Really feel it. Notice how good it feels to feel good! Do this daily. Wash, rinse and repeat; and repeat!

As you do this you condition your mind for success and celebration. You make it a habit to find the positive and enjoy it. You make feeling good a habit too. This will make an incredible difference.

Take baby steps or actions towards your goals. Keep a journal of your daily successes.  The things you do that move you forward in the different areas of your life. You can track the weeks and months.

You Are More Accomplished Than You Realize

You can notice your consistent improvement over time. You provide yourself with the proof, the evidence you are moving forward and doing things on your own behalf. Track your wins. Keep a record.

Reward yourself. Give yourself an immediate treat for taking actions, for keeping your journal, or for looking for the positive. When you do something to move forward treat yourself well.

A reward is a positive reinforcement, a motivator. It can be anything. Get a massage, read a book, spend time alone or with family, buy yourself something nice, splurge a little. Enjoy gifting you.

It Is Time To Create Your Success Story

Reinforce your successes! Feel good. As you do you build momentum. You want momentum. Remember, the law is, a body at rest tends to stay at rest; a body in motion tends to stay in motion.

Inertia is difficult to overcome. The tendency is to remain as is. With effort you overcome it. Once you get moving the tendency is to stay moving. That is Newton’s law. Keep on moving. Reinforce it.

You will get further doing one or two small things consistently than not doing lots of bigger things. A little bit can go a long way. You can be delighted and surprise yourself how far ahead you move when you do a little positive bit each day. Take action now and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Strategies For Feeling Happy And Well-Being More Of The Time

Why do we feel bad? Why don’t we just feel good all the time? Is there a way to feel better more often? Should we? Some people say it is unrealistic to try to feel good always. Is it? If it were possible to feel better most of the time wouldn’t you want to?

First, I don’t know. That just seems to be the way of the world. The universe works on contrast and opposites. We have hot and cold, up and down, big and small, good and not good. We have contrast. The good news is we can utilize contrast to our advantage.

Just as night comes and it signals us to sleep and dawn comes and signals us to arise, feelings signal us as to what we are thinking and what is going on with us. They can alert us to issues that require attention and keep us safe.

Dashboard Signals Alert Us To What We Need To Attend To

Thoughts create feelings. Thoughts precede our feelings. Thought is a form of energy, lighter and quicker than feelings. An analogy might be water and molasses.  Emotions are a combination of our physical sensations combined with thought. Lighter and heavier.

Our thoughts seem to be fleeting, sometimes racing. Our feelings tend to linger. We notice the results of our thinking by what and how we are feeling. Good feelings our thoughts are positive. Not so good feelings our thoughts aren’t so positive, they are negative.

Focus is a major reason why we feel less than glorious. What we pay attention to and put energy into determines how we feel. Focus can be habitual and we hardly notice what we are attending to. Focus can be deliberate. Whatever we focus on we get back and more of.

Our Feelings Are Our Signals

We want to be clear about what we focus on. Negative focus, outside of our awareness will run the show. If we don’t realize we are complaining and blaming and focused on problems and negativity we will feel bad without knowing why.

We won’t know what to do about it and so we will tend to do more of the same. It will only get worse. In order to break the cycle we need to become aware and shift our focus to the positive. From can’t do to can do. From unhappy to happy. We get whatever we focus on.

We can monitor our thoughts by monitoring our feelings. Our feelings signal us that we might need to change our thinking if we want to feel better. Just as the results of our life are an indication of our previous thoughts feelings are an indication of our thinking.

We Become What We Most Think About

If we look at our life and don’t like the results we are getting in our present circumstances and we feel less than glorious it is a strong indication we need to change SOMETHING about our thinking. If what we are doing isn’t working we need to change it for the better.

That is great news. It gives us something positive to do. Sadly, most people, when they don’t like the results, end up whining, complaining, blaming and excusing. They drive themselves deeper into bad feelings and poor results. They create a negative cycle.

The wiser, more productive course of action isn’t to complain or to try to fix things in the world but to first fix the thinking that produced the issues in the world. Once our thinking is straighten out we have a better chance to resolve the rest.

We Get What We Focus On

When we are positive, clear headed, stress free we think and feel better. When we think and feel better we are more resourceful and our brains are better problem solvers than when we are stressed out. Literally, our brains shut down more when stressed.

We actually do not think, nor see potential options and advantages as readily as when we are feeling positive. This is especially the case with chronic stress and lingering melancholy or anxiety. To live better we need to make some thinking changes up front.

This is why I emphasize repeatedly the importance of gaining control of your mind and learning how to direct your thoughts. Times will arise when we feel less than glorious and we want to be able to move ourselves gently into better feelings.

Awareness Is The First Step In Positive Change

Whatever is going on, accept it and learn from it. Notice what it is and realize it is part of being human. Your emotions are signaling you something may be out of whack. Hooray, what a marvelous self regulating system we have.

Gently attempt to feel better bit by bit. The goal is not to jump from sad to ecstatic but to move from sad gently towards feeling ecstatic incrementally. Bit by bit. As you learn to do this you condition yourself to move from less than glorious to glorious.

Still, you aren’t yanking yourself from one into the other. It is more important to be able to learn to set direction and follow the course than to leap from one to the other. Allow for slower and steady progress. As you do you might find it easing up more quickly.

If You Aren’t Aware Of It You Are Not Likely To Change It

You don’t have to push it. It will give way as you gently nudge it and simultaneously control and direct your thoughts. So can we or should we feel better or happy all the time? You decide. That is the best answer. If you think you shouldn’t be happy always, why not?

Certainly, you may have reasons. Then also consider this. Happiness is a choice. You choose when and when not to feel happy. It is completely up to you. If you learn how to control your thoughts and feelings you can determine when you will and when you won’t.

First learn how to control and aim your mind so you have that as an option. The more often we feel better the easier more of life is. We think better when we feel better and vice versa. Our mind and body are part of the same system. Our job is to learn to use them well.

Thank Goodness For The Signals We Get

If everyday you engage in conditioning your mind and body pretty soon you would have mind and bodies in pretty good shape. They both need exercise, rest, and proper nutrition. Care for your mind and body and they will serve you well. Better than if you don’t.

The investment in brain and body care pays great dividends all along the way. You can experience better current and long term health. You can think and act more productively to get better results and accomplish your dreams and goals. Yes, there is a cost to taking care.

There is time, energy and effort required. If you let yourself go or never get in mental and physical shape, if you never know well-being, why expect to if you do nothing in order to have it? It comes at a price. The price is your willingness and your follow through.

Energy Flows Where Attention Flows

You can begin small and make great progress. It can astonish you with how doing little things consistently can positively impact everything in your life in big ways. Be sure you do something. If you always do what you always did you always get to remain the same.

Do things that you enjoy. Walk, gardening, working out, meditating, yoga, listening to music. Engage in activities that make you feel happier and more joyful. Read inspiring books, blogs and materials. Listen to inspirational speakers. Hang with positive people.

Select one or two simple positive affirmations and use them as a mantra to think and say over and over throughout the day, when needed and at anytime. Imagine, visualize, your ideal self. Enjoy the feelings that accompany your visualization and savor them.

Drop By Drop The Tub Gets Filled

Visualize your positive goals as if you already have attained them and notice the wonderful feelings. Make a daily gratitude and success list. Feel your appreciation for the people, events and things in life. List your daily successes no matter how tiny.

Journal your positive feelings, your joys, and your desires. Write about what you want as though you already have these. Appreciate what you do each day. Appreciate yourself. Smile more, laugh more, move your body more, skip, sing, dance. Get a massage. Sauna.

Rest, relax, nap, bathe. Take care of yourself. Create a brief positive morning rising ritual and one for winding down and going to sleep. Review your gratitudes and successes. Plan for a positive next day. During the day make it a point to feel your best.

You Eat An Elephant A Bite At A Time

If at times you don’t, stop, take a deep breath, and put your focus onto positive thoughts, your mantra or your visualizations, and keep bringing it back to these until you are able to keep it there. At first it may seem tough but it will get easier and easier the more you do it.

Your brain, your unconscious mind is a servo-mechanism. It is an automated servant. It learns by training. It learned to do what it does when you were younger. Now it is time to train it yourself to do what you want it to do. Condition it for success. It will serve you.

It will serve you well but you must do it. Your early conditioning was not done with your permission or input. Now it is time for you to determine to build positive habits that reliably serve you to live the life you desire to live. Once conditioned positively it will be faithful.

Plan For Success – Be Positive – Expect Unexpected Good

If you want to change your life you need to change some things. If there are two dogs fighting  within you, as the story goes, the one you feed and care for wins. The one you starve won’t. Be wise, take appropriate action and make your life more wonderful. Begin today and celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

What To Do When Challenges And Obstacles Arise

“As you pursue you dreams and goals obstacles may arise. Things, people generally perceive as ‘bad’ or unwanted, may come up. Your path could be fraught with difficulty. If so celebrate and continue on.

Of course, you exclaim, ‘celebrate, Rex are you out of your mind?’ The answer is, ‘of course, yes!’ Let me explain to you what I mean. Trust. It is all about trust.

It can be trust in an outer god if you like, but I prefer to put that trust in myself.  So when I mention trust, I refer to trust in you. Still it can be can be trust god or in the universe. Whatever works for you.

Learn To Trust Yourself

Many people don’t trust themselves, heck they don’t even know themselves.  They aren’t yet aware of their resourcefulness, talents and abilities because most of their lives they focus on limitations and negative outer circumstances.

They blamed themselves, others and events. The time has come to stop that. The time has come to take responsibility for everything, whether or not you actually are.

ACT AS IF you are responsible for whatever happens. When you embrace this attitude it gives you great power and control. TRUST! When you are in charge you are responsible. Be in charge. Claim your power by accepting responsibility and end making excuses.

There are opposites, hot, cold, up, down, good, bad. There is day and night, winter and summer. The tide comes in and the tide goes out. There is happiness and sorrow. We need to accept these and work with these instead of resisting them.

You Actually Already Have All The Resources You Need

When you encounter difficulties along the way, a useful mind set to adopt is that it is a test of your strengths and abilities. You protest, ‘but that isn’t real!’ In all probability it isn’t, but it is a useful mindset to adopt.

From neuroscience we know that everything is a matter of our perspective. We don’t actually know what is real or even interact with it. We act on limited information. We are constrained by our own neurological filters BUT we believe things to be as we perceive.

In other words we believe whatever our version of reality it is. But we don’t ever have the whole, complete picture. We have a fraction. So our version is never THE correct version. It is simply A version. It is not necessarily even accurate and definitely not true. It just is.

Consider this, I have discussed it before. Many horrible events that people think they will never make it through, some time later are looked back on and viewed as the most important, significant, life changing event in their life. They see it completely differently years later.

With other events, we are able to look back and laugh. This tells us it isn’t so much the event that is important, although we think it is. It is our reaction to it, our perception of it and the meaning we place on the event. We decide whether the event is good or bad.

So what is the ‘truth’ about the same event viewed differently? There isn’t any set truth. There is only the truth we give it. From our perspective, in one moment in time, it is bad. From a different perspective in another different moment in time it is good.

You Have All The Resources You Just Don’t Know It Yet

So what is it really? The actual event is neither.  The only meaning the event has is what we give it. We judge, we label it. We call it as we believe it to be. Then after a while, we think about it differently. It takes on new significance and new meaning. It is all in your mind.

So consider adopting the mindset that you are being tested. Whether you are testing yourself, or god or the universe is, or it is a random pop quiz, you are being tested. This can help you get through it. The test is to find your strengths and abilities. Cool.

There is another useful and wonderful mindset to adopt.

You are being challenged and it is a game. The stakes of the game go up. Your obstacles are worthy opponents. You want good opponents. A game really isn’t much fun unless there is a challenge to it.

Most great gamers seek the best, most talented, difficult opponents to play with, they don’t want it easy. They want significant challenge THAT is worthwhile and meaningful. Play the game with gusto.

Believing Is Seeing – That Is How It Really Works

TRUST as you move forward on your desires, take action, follow you plans, that as long as you continue, no matter what comes your way, no matter what obstacles and challenges arise that they will eventually go away. Nothing lasts forever. It will again be easier.

The tumultuous path will settle and smooth out. Night will again give way to day. TRUST that these obstacles were important for you to experience. They provide lessons you can discover when you look.

You can learn from  these if you remain open and available to their messages. Welcome the obstacles and challenges and troubles for what you can learn about yourself, others and life.

The Kite Rises Against The Wind

They are their for you to become aware of and discover wonderful things about yourself and your transformation. Your challenges are actually blessings, opportunities, lessons.

Is any of this true. Yes and no. It is whatever you believe it to be. I can’t definitely say there is anyone pulling strings, that isn’t my purpose here. I think all is good. All is divine.

We struggle with moments large and small, but it is all part of one thing. LIFE! It is only the human who judges whether something is good or bad, valuable or not. You can learn to  reframe problems.

Inside Every Adversity Is The Seed Of Equivalent Opportunity

Prior to human consciousness on the planet things just were. Huge tectonic upheavals, earthquakes, volcanos, ice storms and ice ages, violent weather and sunny wonderful days. There was no one to complain or to admire the beauty.

Enter the human. Now there are good days and bad days. There are better days of the week and less desirable days. Humans judge. That is part of our suffering. We make judgements that cause us pain.

TRUST you will get through it. It is easy when you are in a state of let go, acceptance and celebration. Embrace it and if you don’t move through it faster at least it won’t be as miserable.

Learn From Obstacles And Challenges

Resist it and it persists. Fighting it only makes it worse. Stop fighting. If you want to make you dreams come true accept whatever you find on the pathway, learn from it and keep going.

If there is a divine being testing you then that being surely must think you are worth it. You need to decide you are worth it and that within you you have every ability to meet every challenge.

THIS is why learning to control your thinking and thinking predominantly positive IS SO POWERFUL and important! When you take charge of your thoughts you take charge of the results.

When you understand everything has opposites and that IS okay you will have learned a great lesson. When you develop the attitude of a winner, a champion, a victor, and continue undaunted towards what is important to you you will have benefit  greatly!

What You Resist Persists

Evolve yourself into one who is not stopped by limitations but who is able to go on in spite of them. Discover delight in ways you can’t presently imagine. There are more possibilities than you might imagine. Don’t miss out on them because of limited vision.

People who climb everest don’t do it because it is easy. Everything you encounter on your journey IS part of your adventure. Receive it, learn from it, evolve with it, celebrate it and keep moving. If you consider it to all be good it will be. You’ll discover the hidden good.

When you celebrate where you are and what you have you open yourself up for having more of the the same. If you appreciate what you have inside you, and outside in your life you can have more because you create the room for more by your gratitude.

Energy Flows Where Your Attention Goes

What you resist persists. If you always do what you always did you will always get what you always got. If you do the same thing over and over again expecting different results you are a little crazy.

So if you want your life to change you must change some things in your life. You can change and control your thinking, your attitudes, beliefs and opinions. You can control your feelings and feel better more of the time. Wouldn’t you want that for yourself?

When you think better and feel better you behave and act better and are more able and apt to make your dreams come true. With the correct attitude you can be, do and have anything you want in life. YOU can make it happen.  Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

What To Do When You Just Don’t Feel Like It…

“Do you get inspired only to lose it? Do you you feel positive and then not? Does it sometimes seem like a struggle to keep centered or on the right track? If yes, first know this is completely normal. Everyone goes through it. After all, we are human.

We have ups and downs in our journey. We may not want them but maybe we ought to. When we open up, accept, make the way for, invite and receive we move ahead faster than by resisting. Struggles help us grow. Down times do as well. Contrast is good.

If it weren’t for discontent we might never change. We don’t want to be complacent and comfortable and miss out. At the same time we don’t want to strive and miss what we can appreciate. Balance is the answer. Celebrate struggles, be grateful for all. Then life IS grand.

You Are The Key To Change

I wanted to share a comment from a reader. I answered in the comment at the blog post and I answer this blog for today. I felt it may apply to others so I wanted to address it to as many as possible, not only to those who see the particular blog comment.

The author wrote: ‘As long as I read your post I feel positive and confidant . But after that I go back to the same mental frame . Even that little time frame will expand someday and I look forward to it happening . I thank you .’

Thanks for sharing. You have the correct attitude. That is wonderful. Even though you may not feel positive and confident all the time you look forward to that day when you will enjoy it more so because you know what you are doing now will expand. AND IT WILL!

Take Action Now

That puts you ahead of the game. Expecting to win IS playing the game well.  That IS a positive and confident mind set. You ARE looking forward to that day become more of a regular occurrence. Congratulate and validate yourself and your awareness! Wonderful!

I add the rest only as a reminder to all of us. Reading is only the beginning. You want to DO that which helps change your thinking. The easiest way to accomplish this and enjoy lasting success is to fill your mind with positive reading material daily. Put on a smile!

Read the blog, re-read the blogs. Make it a study not light reading or entertainment.  Read positive and inspiring books, listen to positive and inspiring audios, watch uplifting DVD’s. Listen and watch again and again. Repeated exposure to the same material is amazing!

The Secret To Change – Not Fighting The Old But Building The New

There are 24 hours in a day and most people don’t direct their mind for much of any of it. Researchers say 95-99% of what we do daily is habitual, routine, chronic, thinking, feeling and behaving. It is previous past programming much of which is less than glorious.

In order to begin to change it we need to tip the scale in favor of the positive. We do this through daily dedication and practice. Each positive step we take in the direction of what we want gets us closer to our destination. The journey, how we get there is important.

Have fun. Delight. Enjoy the journey. Find positive infographics, posters, mottos, sayings, affirmations that you can begin to repeat sincerely over and over again. This is very powerful. Look at my blogs on Directed Questions and apply that information.

What You Resist Persists

Set aside time for a gratitude and success journal. List what you are grateful for and you daily successes. Validate what you appreciate about yourself and other. Acknowledge your wins. Visualize yourself, feeling positive, loving, confident, happy, strong.

Whatever you would like more of acknowledge and emphasize. Concentrate on it. What you focus on expands. Accentuate the positive! You bring about what you think about! Energy flows where your attention goes. Maintain your mindset bit by bit. Smile more!

Help others in positive ways. Give to others without expecting anything in return. Appreciate yourself, circumstances and others. Celebrate everything! Persist and soon a new day will dawn. Old habits seem tough to break but you can learn new ones. Smile!

There Is No Better Time Than Now

Smile more, laugh more, Celebrate everything! Move, walk, notice nature and the beauty that surrounds you. Look at how and where the world is good and plentiful. We live in an abundant universe. Notice that. Be gentle, kind and encouraging to self and others.

The way you form new habits  is the same way you learned the old ones. Correct spaced repetition. You perform the same drills again and again in sports to become a better athlete. The same is true about become a positive thinking champion. Keep doing it!

Drop by drop fills the tub. Step by step the journey is made. The more you do the more you can do. Anything worthwhile is worth having difficulty with at first. Whatever we want to do with ease we must first do with diligence. We become what we think about all day.

You Can’t Make A Positive Change With A Negative Attitude

Do daily practice. Read some as much as you can each day. If nothing else read at least a page, a paragraph but DO something. Listen when able. Keep the journals. Repeat the affirmations out loud enthusiastically and silently day in and day out. Smile more! 🙂

Have fun, have faith and you will soon see change. It takes a bare minimum of 21 days to make or break a habit. It can take longer. Make this a daily practice. Commit and keep going don’t quit. Persist. Stay in touch! Oh, did I mention, Smile more?  AND celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

What Have You Learned From The ‘7 Day No Complaining Challenge’?

Struggles or not, how has the 7 Day No Complaining Challenge been going? What have noticed? I have been hearing from some by email, FB and other means but not so much here in the comments. How are you doing with it?

Have you been journaling? Have you been, and this is most important, treating yourself with kindness? Awareness is the first step in making change. You need to become aware of the triggers that lead to negativity, whining, blaming, excusing, complaining etc.

This isn’t always fun but it is what is needed. Progress is made in stages. First, you begin to notice your complaining, but, after the fact. You realized you ‘were’ complaining. Second, if you stay with it you notice AS it occurs. In the middle of complaints you wake up.

It Is Your Negative Thoughts That Hold You Back

Third, as you keep at it you will learn to notice it before it arises. You will notice the tendency arising and you will preempt it. As you feel this tendency you STOP IT and re-direct your thoughts positively elsewhere. You begin to take charge of your mind.

Every time you successfully redirect your thinking into positive thoughts you are reinforcing a positive, powerful new habit that will serve you for the rest of your life. You transform yourself from the inside out. This is the most important change you can make!

What you focus on expands. What you think about you bring about. Keep this in mind. And commit yourself to thinking only the best of yourself, others and circumstances. Maintain a positive from of mind and your brain will find more of the same for you.

If You Think You Can Or You Think You Can’t You Are Right

Learning to direct your thinking and feelings is the most beneficial thing you can do for yourself. It puts you in charge, at cause, and more able live the life you want, making your dreams come true. It gives you the power to make things happen as you apply yourself.

There is no substitute for learning how incredible you are and what you can do. You already have everything within you needed to make these changes. You simply need to apply yourself, dedicate yourself and keep your commitment. When you do this you will prevail!

So I’m checking in with you. It is ok if it is rough, or even painful. You are changing an old habit. First, comes the awareness of when it happens. As it does pat yourself on the back. Acknowledge, validate and encourage your awareness. That will lead to more awareness!

What You Think Is What You Get

When you acknowledge, validate and encourage your awareness it helps bring more insights, more swiftly. Your reticular activating system looks to find positive matches. When you are friendly toward yourself you discover many incredible things.

If you resist, get discouraged or negative, if you beat yourself up, you only get more of the same for the very same reasons as above. So be kind, gentle, nurturing and encouraging. You’ll find so much more to appreciate and be grateful for when you do. Change will be easier!

Most people would be completely shocked, perhaps appalled, if they could and would add up all the moments of their negative thinking each day. If you only knew precisely how much time you spend each day whining, blaming and complaining.

A Negative Mind Will Never Give You A Positive Life

Little things, under your breath, big things, inconsequential things. It is all habit, chronic, persistent, unproductive thinking. It is subtle. It can be over the most useless things. The coffee isn’t hot enough or it is too hot. The weather isn’t perfect. Name it, anything is possible.

Someone didn’t keep their word. You’re tired picking up after your dog. Whatever! It can be any number of tiny little complaints that you barely notice, but are there and add up. Eliminate these. These are dragging you down. Focus on maintaining the positive.

THIS is why you want to take the challenge. End this chronic condition. Free your mind from the chatter of negativity. It doesn’t have to be pronounced to be affecting you. Be aware, let it go, focus on the positive and maintain the focus and your life will improve.

Careful What You Think Your Thoughts Run Your Life

If you want a more enjoyable and delightful experience eliminate that which holds you back and add in that which brings you more delight.
