The Formula For Creating Anything: Wealth, Career, Free Time – Guaranteed

Horizons on-the-shore-again-phil-koch

“All things made by humans follow a procedure. There is a formula. It is rule governed, precise, and replicable. No matter what it is, the formula is utilized in one way or another. Nothing is created by humans without following these steps.

You can use the formula to create anything you desire.

This is the formula for creating anything. This is the law of creation utilized by humans throughout most of time! At least,  written history. If you don’t already follow this, you should! I share it here so you can begin getting what you want. You have to follow it precisely!

Conceive It

See it in you mind. Conceive of it. All knowledge exists forever simultaneously.  Just as everything in the universe exists foever simultaneously. The materials to build a rocket ship have existed since the beginning of time. All resources are already here.

The know how to build a rocket ship has existed from the dawn of human kind. The only reason rockets weren’t built earlier is because humans didn’t conceive of them earlier. They had to evolve further. Once conceived of the process began.

Step one: The conception. ‘Imagination, is more important that knowledge’, said Einstein. Why is that? Because it is usually the educated that say something can’t be done as the dreamers are busy doing it.

Believe It

See, it, imagine it. Visualize it. Then write it down. Writing it down is the 1st time it is created in the world. It is created on paper. Why write it down. Because it helps crystalize it in the mind. You further specify the visualization.

Architects, engineers, planners, designers work with blue prints. They imagine it and draw it out. They get precise. They use measurements and specifications. First Step, see it. Second Step, write it or draw it.

Step Three:  Plan it and gather resources. Schedule it. Ultimately, you  the plan and the schedule. These may change as necessary so it requires that you be flexible. You keep the project going but you adjust plans as necessary.

Achieve It

Step Four:  Build it. Take action and work the plans. This is how a building, a bridge, a chair or a toy is made. This is how wealth is created.  All human creations follow essentially this formula. This is the final step of transmuting an idea into physical reality.

You want to create anything this is what you do. You want a better life, greater wealth, more free time, a fun career, See It inside your head. Imagine it. Put it on paper. Create a plan for fulfilling it. Work the Plan and Build It. The Law! From within to without.

Keep going until you get what you set out to get. Don’t let obstacles or challenges deter you. Persist. Learn from challenges. Keep on going! Believe you can do it and you will. Believe you can’t do it and you won’t. So keep the faith. Fulfill your passion. Make your dreams come true. Get it? Good!” Rex Sikes

How To Stop Procrastinating

horizons showing-the-way-phil-koch

“Do you procrastinate? If yes, why? Why don’t you do the things you know you should do? Is it because you don’t feel like it? Is it because you assume it would be hard and you’d have to work at it? Is it because you would be uncomfortable?  You have a reason, right?

Whatever that reason it is actually an excuse. If you really wanted to do it nothing would prevent you. If you don’t want to you come up with ‘reasons’ and ‘excuses’. If that reason or excuse begins with ‘because’ you are citing your beliefs about it.

The word ‘because’ tips us off to a potential belief or a cluster of beliefs following. The beliefs or assertions that follow ‘because’ you use to explain ‘why’ you aren’t engaging or doing what you are supposed to. ‘Why did you do that?’ ‘Because…’ Now your rationale, excuses or beliefs follow as to why you did or why you didn’t.

Beliefs are only thoughts we think over and over again until we accept them as true. A lie repeated often enough can be substituted as fact. What we routinely say to ourself may have no actual basis in reality, we only ‘think’ that it does because we have thought it for so long. It is chronic, habitual thinking. Good or bad, it is habitual.

Inside us, our brain, and our Reticular Activating System (RAS) have a process of attempting to keep us consistent with what we believe. Mostly, we live from scripts. We live thinking, over and over, mostly the same thoughts and reasons for behaving. We let very little new information in.

We live from the beliefs we have adopted and stop a lot of  new thoughts or ways of being and doing and believing from entering. That is how we remain consistent.  We can, but it means becoming aware and not buying into those old ‘sales pitches’ whenever they arise.

Cognitive Dissonance is the term given to the mental discomfort when our beliefs conflict with out beliefs, thoughts or actions or with new information from other sources. We attempt to maintain comfort, the status quo, by ignoring or eliminating the source of the conflict.

We just don’t want to be uncomfortable for any reason. So we refuse to listen, engage or do things we sometimes must. We want comfort above a lot of other important things in life. We will even make things stressful and difficult because we are more comfortable with that than the alternatives. We try to remain consistent no matter the cost to ourselves.

People believe if they wait long enough they will get motivated. So they wait until the deadline’s last minute and then rush, due to pressures from outside and inside themselves, to get it done. It can work that way but it is stressful and no way to live. Still they accept that over doing it now because that is the habit they have built. A stress habit.

They believe motivation comes from outside them. If the pay off or reward is big enough, then, they might do it. They reason through all sorts of thing.  What do you believe? What are your reasons, you beliefs, you excuses (because that is what they are) for putting things off? The may seem plausible but they are just excuses. I’ll bet you’ve used them again and again

People put off the same thing everyday. They want to clean their car, office or kitchen. They need to mail materials, or set meetings. Each day they look at what they need to do and feel bad. They decide to put it off till later. The feel bad EVERY day they prolong the process instead of doing it right then. If they got it done they’d be done with it. They could feel good they acted on it. Instead, they choose to feel bad multiple times over many days.

If you aren’t please with your behavior YOU can change it. Motivation doesn’t come if you wait. Stress comes! Motivation doesn’t rain down on you. It comes from action. It comes from doing. Once you decide to do it now, that decision, is taking action. When you follow through with your decision and begin the task that is action. Action creates more action!

The more you act the more motivation you will get. The more you do the more you can do. Motivation comes from doing! Satisfaction and motivation comes from completing the task and the feelings that result.  When you can cross it off  your list you feel good and are motivated to do more. When it lingers on your list it nags at you. Why live with nagging?

Athletes have to train.  They don’t feel like it every day. They do it anyway because they know if they want to be the best they will follow though. They have accountability partners. They have a coach or others they train with. You might want to get yourself an accountability partner or two. That can be immensely useful.

This is my 569 consecutive blog post. I don’t always feel like writing each morning at 3am. Sometimes I write a little earlier or later but I do it because I made it a habit. I am proud of writing each day so that helps me stay motivated. It is its own reward.

I have readers, who I may or may never hear from, to whom I feel accountable to, besides being accountable to myself. Creating accountability for yourself is very useful. Discover the power that comes by partnering with others OR by holding yourself accountable to complete things. When you feel good that you completed things, savor those feelings.

Skill comes of doing correctly. Positive habits come from doing correctly, repeatedly, through time. Build, for yourself, positive skills and habits that assist you by pushing through no matter what. ‘When the going gets tough the tough get going,’ said Lombardi. No wimps, no excuses, just the tough get going and rise to any challenge. You can do it!

Do it anyway!  You may not feel like it. BUT when you ‘do it anyway’ you learn to break through those artificial belief barriers. You learn the value of follow though. The feelings of accomplishment become additional resources you can use again in the future to continue to act in your own best interest. Do it anyway! The act of following through repeatedly is the habit you want to build.

Soon it gets easier to do the things you don’t want to, even when you don’t want to. You learn if you don’t feel like it you must do it anyway. Then you do it and discover it wasn’t so bad after all. What you thought about it was all self deception. Old programs, old scripts. Stop deceiving yourself with excuses and act! It is the only way! You you feel as though you don’t want to – do it anyway. Then celebrate!” Rex Sikes

Slow And Steady Wins The Race: Why You Should Never Give Up!

Horizons blue-day-sunshine-phil-koch

“Will you continue to work at your goals and resolutions? Can you do some things to be certain you accomplish what you want?Your life is already busy you really don’t want to get bogged down with more. How simple can it be? Read on to find out.

What you want to do with ease you must first do with diligence. The more you do the more you ultimately can do. Thoughts become things. Thoughts and actions repeated in time, a relatively short time, become reliable automatic habits. Thoughts create reality.

Do a little each day. Stick with it. A little is better than nothing. Drop by drop fills the tub. Practice daily. Each day spend morning and evening moments in affirming what you want with positive emotion. Visualize each day. Practice and your abilities increase. They do!

You Go Where Your Thoughts Take You

A few moments well spent at the start and end of each day to set your frame of mind and attitude is priceless. You can also use drive time to enthusiastically repeat affirmations or mantras. Grab short moments repeatedly during the day. A little, used well and done often, works wonders.

Speak only to bless, heal and prosper. Affirm and Visualize what you want. Perform small actions that keep you on track and soon you will have developed positive habits that will help carry you along. Keep it simple but also keep doing it. Make it automatic for yourself.

If you want to gain control over your thoughts and feelings so you think, feel and act better do some things each day to exercise control. Be the captain of your soul and the master of your fate. Enjoy the process. Be grateful and celebrate each day often.

If You Really Want To Do Something You Will Find A Way

All obstacles, no matter how difficult, are only temporary. You only fail or are defeated if you quit and give up. Otherwise, learn from that which challenges you and use it to set your resolve and make you stronger. Once you quit the race is over.

When people give up they don’t feel good about it. When someone abandons their goals usually they criticize and blame, self, others and circumstance. Don’t break promises you make to self or others. DO what you say you will. You will feel better in the long run.

Keep you word. You will enjoy feeling like a winner when you achieve what you set out to. Take it easy, do it little by little, you never have to quit or feel bad. You just move more slowly.

Skill Comes Of Doing

Less can be more in the long run. Read some inspirational or motivational material each day. Read a chapter, a page, a paragraph, a sentence. Something is better than nothing. Keep your mind and spirit positive. A little can go a long way.

The tiny trickle in time become a might y river. The constant dribbling force of water can carve rock. You can do anything you commit to when you put your mind and feelings into it. Remember, to do it even when you don’t feel like it. That is what champions do.

Find reasons to continue and complete rather than excuses and blames. Look for the good and you will find it. Focus on the positive and be a ‘Can Do’ person. You will get there eventually. Better late than never!” Rex Sikes

There Is A Magic Ingredient That Makes All Of Life Better

horizons nobodys-home-phil-koch

“Did you know there is something that determines your happiness, your success, your victories more than anything else. It is the ‘magic’ ingredient! I bet you already know what it is.

It is your attitude! You say, ‘Really, attitude? Well, of course, I already knew this.’  See, I knew you’d think something like that.

Your attitude is comprised of your beliefs and what you think is important, your values. It is your mindset. You (and I) aren’t born with attitude. You develop it. You can change it. You can make it serve you OR you can serve it.

Whether IT serves you or YOU serve it is critical. If you have a poor attitude you are the servant. If your attitude is right, IT serves you. You have heard of a ‘winning’ or ‘winner’s attitude’.

Your Attitude Determines Your Circumstances

If you have a poor attitude know this: YOU are not stuck with THAT attitude. You can change it to better serve you. Your attitude is your chronic, habitual thinking patterns. It is your OLD reliable thoughts.

If these suck, you need to replace this old habit with a new and better, more productive, thinking habit. It takes a little time and effort true, but it is far simpler than you might believe. AND what you believe is JUST THAT. It is what YOU believe.

‘A happy person is not a person with a certain set of circumstances but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.’ Hugh Downs. We tend to think happiness comes by having the right people, things or circumstances in our lives. It doesn’t. It IS the other way around.

Your attitude determines whether you find the world a friendly and inviting place or not. Your attitude determines your circumstances and how you navigate them more than anything else. Your thoughts create your reality. YOUR THOUGHTS create YOUR REALITY!

Your Attitude Determines Your Altitude

‘Your attitude determines your altitude.’ This last statement is a quote sometimes attributed to Zig Ziglar. There is a slightly longer version.

‘Your attitude, not your aptitude, determines your altitude.’ Said another way, ‘Your success is determined by how much you desire it and not by your talents.’ This is very close to what I think Napoleon Hill says. I paraphrase below:

You must have a Definite Chief Purpose. You must know what you want. You must want to achieve it with all your heart. You must be passionate about it. You must want it with a white hot burning desire.

You must have complete faith in yourself. You must believe you will achieve it in spite of any obstacle or negative circumstances. You must keep going and persist, until you do. Stick with it! Make it happen!

Your Attitude Determines Your Experience Of The World

‘Whatever the mind of man can conceive, and come to believe, it can achieve.’ Napoleon Hill. Everything first originates as a thought or an idea. That is why he said you can THINK and grow rich. Riches originate within. Riches, happiness, success, health begin in the mind.

Your thought, your mindset or attitude, is critical to your success and happiness. What you think determines how far you will go. Henry Ford said, ‘whether you think you can or you think you can’t you are right!’ I say, never let a thought stop you from a positive good!

Thoughts are powerful. Thoughts become things. Still, when all is said and done, it is, after all, just a thought. A mental packet of energy. YOU chose what YOUR thoughts WILL BE! Make ALL your thoughts SERVE YOU instead of you serving them!

‘He rarely hits the mark or wins the game, who says, I know I’ll miss while taking aim.’ Allan Guiterman. You must already know this. If you don’t think you will you RARELY will. You are less apt to succeed if you think you are going to fail. Think YOU will WIN!

Your Attitude Determines What You Make Happen

Another Guiterman quote. ‘What one approves, another scorns, And thus his nature each discloses. You find the rosebush full of thorns, I find the thornbush full of roses.’ I’ve discussed it in these blog pages many times. Your mindset or attitude determines what you find.

Out brain’s Reticular Activating System (RAS) looks for proof in the world for what we already believd. It looks for a match. It has no vested interest in what that is. If you think negatively it will find that as much as if you think positively. It doesn’t care BUT you should.

You are so much more likely to succeed and have what you want when you take charge of your attitude. When you take control of your thoughts and feelings. When you decide you are going to make things happen you will.

If you decide the world is friendly and you can be, do and have anything you want your RAS will look and find that evidence for you. That is what it is designed to do.

Your Attitude Determines Whether You Win Or Lose

Hill stated, anything you turn over to your subconscious mind by emotionally charge repetition, you subconscious will work to make reality. This is already working for you and I.

We can’t escape it. We can only aim it. We are either predominantly positive or predominantly negative in our thinking. What we think most and how we think most of the time, determines the kind results we get back. We get either positive or negative results.

If you wait for ‘magic’ to happen or for things to come to you on their own, you might just wait all your life. The time is NOW to fashion and craft the winning attitude that carries you across the finish line. ‘If IT is to BE IT is up to ME!’ William Johnsen. You decide!

Your Positive Attitude Can Make Everything Much Better

Everything changes for the better when you change your attitude for the better. All of your life will transform. If you begin to believe this is possible THEN it IS possible. Make it happen!

If you don’t believe it, for you, it won’t be possible. You determine the outcome by what you choose to believe. That is how it works. It is always a choice whether you recognize it as one or not. Choose!Take responsibility, take charge.

Put yourself in the driver’s seat. Take control. Don’t wait for others or circumstances to be right, create the circumstances. It is time to be the master of your fate and the captain of your soul. It begins with your thoughts! It ALL begins with your attitude! Remember, ‘Your attitude determines you altitude!” Rex Sikes

What Holds You Back? What You Can Do About It

Horizons staying-within-the-lines-phil-koch

“‘I appreciate the idea of staying positive. But I really struggle with the blind spot here. Children around the world are suffering and dying. They are not responsible for their situation.

This kind of “teaching” suggests there is some way those innocent children could have prevented the awful scenario we see played out in front of us. It’s not enough to turn the telly off and act like everything is ok. It’s not.

This teaching is about attaching to an idea and/or outcome, and that is the birthplace of suffering. Of course, in general terms, there is merit in being positive. Be happy.’ From Hugh

“Today, my blog post is my reply to this comment made yesterday. I included the comment above.  Of course, you can read it at the post page from yesterday too, along with others. Below is my answer, my opinion. My response.

Excellent points and questions. I am glad you raised them. Napoleon Hill stated he faced the very same concerns, deeply, when his son was born without ears or internal hearing apparatus.

No, no one is saying innocents are responsible for their condition. Life is what life is. In fact, until 7, 8,9 or 10, one could argue, children are mostly just programmed by adults, peers, and situations they grow up around and in.

What this teaching stresses is, if at some point, one is lucky enough to be exposed to it, one can learn to control their own thinking. A person can then work to overcome life circumstances and the conditioning they were brought up in.

Whether they do or not is up to them and no judgement should be made.

Some will yell that the underprivileged feel entitled and are lazy. That is not the case at all. Most people want to better themselves. And if there are some who do not that is their choice.

There are people at both ends of the wealth spectrum that benefit from entitlements. There are some wealthy who are lazy. No one is casting dispersion here, or at least I am not. Nor do I think the teaching does.

It could be said, if one wants to learn how to fish, this teaching will teach them. If some prefer to be fed, I have no problem with that. That is what charity and philanthropy and generosity and good will are all about.

Yes, there is suffering in the world. How one handles the suffering is an individual thing AND largely based on the life experiences and conditioning the person has had. I am no judge.

SO I cannot hold people accountable for their conditioning or their experiences or lack of them. If there is a creator, or divine intelligence, or whom or whatever, that is their domain not mine.

I can only share what I know. I know this. You can go through an experience thinking and feeling negative or thinking and feeling positive. One seems to work better than the other.

Positive thinking does not guarantee success, but makes it more likely than negative thinking. So for me, I choose to be positive. My life and world work better that way.

As for turning off television or turning a blind eye to troubles around the world I don’t think that is realistic. I don’t think being overly fixated on it serves anyone either.

With 24/7 news and bombardment in all media of negative messages AND really mostly ONLY negative messages, because that is what news is,

I say be enlightened and informed to local and world events. JUST don’t get caught up in the negativity.

Negativity is great for knowing what you don’t want or what you want to avoid or exclude. It informs you what you may want to leave behind.

Positivity tells you or informs you what you want to move toward, where you are going or headed, what you want to include or have more of.

Both are necessary. But we need one more than the other. IF you are being chased by a bear in the woods, let’s call this negative, you want to flee the bear, avoid it, leave it behind, not get eaten, and run to a safe place where you are safe and without fear or worry.

You must run with everything you have.

You can’t do that if you keep your eyes on the bear. You have to keep your focus on where you are running to, in front of you. You KNOW the bear is there but your focus is on safety.

The bear is a huge motivator to get there quickly.

In the same way, negativity informs us what we don’t want and can motivate us to get what we do want and more quickly if we use it.

Negative thoughts and feelings are part of life. Positive feelings are part of life too.

Where you spend most of your time determines the quality of your life. Two people born in poverty one exclaims, ‘that is it! I refuse to be poor ever again!’ and works to become rich.

The other says, ‘Wow cool, the rich life is for me! I want all that!’ and works to become rich.

Both are possible. My thought is spend most of your time being positive. It feels better, makes things easier and is more enjoyable.

To the extent you want to, evolve yourself, take control of your thinking and feeling, so you enjoy life more fully.

Help others, help make the world a better place. If you see a wrong, attempt to right it. Delight in and celebrate everything.

If there is a problem, examine it and then turn your attention toward a solution. We rarely accomplish anything by fighting hate with hate, violence with violence, anger with anger, racism with racism, poverty with poverty.

We need to focus on what we want to bring about and work to bring it about. We do that by maintaining our focus on what we want, what we want to include, what we want more of.

We continue to think positive and feel good because life is more enjoyable that way.

Still, it rains on the rich and the poor. Calamity and disaster and heartbreak visit both. How those are responded to and handled is up to the individual and no one, in my opinion, should fault any other human for how they handle difficulty.

Just always remember, night gives way to day, cold becomes warm, waves that have gone out return. This too shall pass. Life is cyclic.

In my world view, evolve yourself to be the best person you can be. Allow other to be who they are. Love lots and forgive much. Learn from adversity and less than desirable circumstances.

Our beliefs either support us and free us up to be, do and have anything we want or they constrain or limit us in some way. We need to learn to recognize when our own mindset is preventing us and change it if we so chose. We can if we believe we can.

If you have goals and dreams go after them, don’t wait. It is not likely others will get them and give them to you. You have to work for it yourself.

Learn to control your thoughts and feelings so you think the best and feel the best 80 or 90% of your time. Whether you have one life or multiple lives, right now is all you have right now!

Celebrate, delight and enjoy it for no reason other than – why not?

It is your life choose what you want to it to be and make it such. Have fun all along the way. Learn to not take things too seriously, relax, let go, play.

Suffering is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Both revolve around outcomes. OR neither have anything to do with circumstances.

Some people in the worst of circumstances are delightfully fulfilled and happy. Others have everything, it seems, yet suffer. Finding out how to best live our life is up to each of us.

My hope is that I have addressed the points and questions. I hope that you, I and others can learn to be grateful and celebrate more of what is available to us while we are here. Let us delight and enjoy it all!

Meanwhile, the best wishes, always in everything!” Rex Sikes

Why Most People Fail – How You Can Succeed!

horizons to-the-place-where-dreams-are-born-phil-koch

“There is a reason why many people don’t reach their goals. There are reasons why most don’t live the life they hope to. Do you want to stop failing and start winning more often? You can. You can begin to win more reliably too. Success is pretty much scientific.

Most people will think it depends on largely on luck. They put the success factors on the outside of themselves and in the hands of others. If you want to succeed you must be the one in charge. Yet, most fail to do this.

One of the most marvelous books ever written is ‘Think And Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill. You must read it if you haven’t. If you have read it you must read it again and again. It is a  book to be studied, ingested and digested. It is so rich with everything we need to know to get ahead and the reasons why most people don’t.

Know Your Definite Chief Purpose

I read a chapter over each day for 30 days at a time. I have done as many as 3 chapters at a time. Especially, chapters 2, 3,and 4. Today, I want to examine a sentence or two from chapter 1. Hill discusses Edwin C. Barnes burning desire to work with Thomas Edison. He emphasized that Barnes really did discover that ‘people THINK And GROW RICH’.

The title itself speaks volumes. Hill doesn’t say work hard and grow rich. Get a job and grow rich. Invest and grow rich. He says, think and grow rich and then explains how to make this happen. His book is amazing. The next two sentences are the ones I want to examine. Keep in mind that Barnes discovered people think and grow rich.

‘His discovery did not come about at one sitting. It came little by little…’ and we stop there. The difficulty people have applying the Law Of Attraction or Science of the Mind or these principles is because today we have grown up expecting everything to happen quick and easy. Certainly, it may but lot’s of things in life don’t. Many things take time.

Develop Passion – A White Hot Burning Desire

It takes time for seeds to grow; for you and I to grow up. To cook a nice meal. To travel from point A to point B. To watch a movie from beginning to end. Still advertisers have promised us magic for a fee, quick, easy, effortless. Magic pills, magic bullets, magic time frames. We have instant on television, high speed internet and so many things that spoil us for those that take time.

Barnes made his discovery but not at one sitting. IT CAME LITTLE BY LITTLE. Once you decide you want to become a deliberate creator or attractor you need to realize most things aren’t revealed all at once. It comes bit by bit. There is no genii in a bottle it is a progression, evolution, an unfolding. You grow into the abilities to make things happen.

Yes, some may be quicker at it than others but if any one person attempts and persists, and does not give up, that person, assuming they are following instructions, rightly using the principles, will succeed. It doesn’t work for some and not all. It works for everyone! Sadly, not every one keeps at it until it works.

Develop Faith – An Indomitable Belief In Yourself & Your Abilities

People try and, after awhile of not having instant results, abandon ship! They jump. Then they state, ‘I tried it and IT didn’t work’. It isn’t it that doesn’t work it is YOU that didn’t keep at it.

SORRY that is the truth, cold, hard and painful as that may be, the only failure there is IS giving up. Stop blaming IT and learn how to make it work instead. Stop whining and do it, is the advice. Persist don’t quit.

Step by step you get to your destination. ALL along the way IS the journey. ALL along the journey is discovery. Ultimately, if you keep going you will get there AS long as you don’t permanently stop trying. Along the way you will learn the ropes. It is a process that unfolds. It is magical but not fairy tale magic.

If you really, REALLY want it. Focus on it. Concentrate on it to the exclusion of most everything else. Believe you can get it. Have total faith in yourself. Then go after it and don’t stop trying until you get it. That is the formula for success. Get your mindset on right so the rest follows. THINK and grow rich. Drop by drop fills the tub.

Daily: Affirm & Visualize Using Strong Positive Emotions

You will accomplish your dreams if you pursue them relentlessly and don’t let anything deter you or stop you. In order to do that you must absolutely want it and not anything else. You must believe that you can do it and make it happen. Then you must take positive, productive steps to get there. THERE is no other way.

It didn’t happen for Barnes overnight. From the time he first thought it, to the time he got to Edison, is anyone’s guess how long that was. From his first meeting with Edison until he was working WITH Edison took 5 years. He didn’t start at the top he started at the bottom but he never let anything deter him from his goal. He knew his destiny and he kept at it until he fulfilled it.

Another important sentence, ‘ But something important was happening in Barnes’ mind. He was constantly intensifying his desire to become the business associate of Edison.’  Why do most fail? Because they wimp out, quit, whine and complain. They want it easy and overnight. They want it handed to them. They put responsibility outside themselves.

Persist – Never, Ever Give Up If You Want To Get There

Nothing appeared to be happening. For the five years his dream was only in his mind. There was no visible evidence of it in the world. His circumstances were that he was a lowly worker for Edison.

All that time ‘he was constantly INTENSIFYING his desire..’ He was intensifying it! Most people would whine and complain and look for something else to do. Not Barnes! He stuck with it! Most people who bail. Barnes knew he what his destiny was. He believed!

How do you succeed? You follow the rules, the instructions, the principles and you keep applying them until you have the success you want. You intensify your desire. You keep the faith and believe in yourself. You expect yourself to prevail.

It seems hard but it is simple. It may not always be easy but it is still simple. The formula is right here. Too many people are flighty like the bee from flower to flower. Still, the bee is on a singular mission and so must you be.  How to succeed is all spelled out. Stop wishing and start doing it. It begins with your thoughts.

Success comes from within you. Ultimately you will succeed as long as you keep at it. If you are determined to no matter how long it takes YOU WILL! In the mean time, INTENSIFY YOUR DESIRE! Make it happen! Prepare your mind! Develop an unstoppable determination, a steel will, and make your dreams come true!” Rex Sikes

I’ll Bet You Never Actually Heard The Lyrics To This Famous Song!

horizons midsummers-dream-phil-koch

“I’m sharing a famous song. Perhaps, it is time you stopped and listened to the lyrics. I’m sure most of you have seen the show or heard this countless times.

Did you realize this is what they were singing about? Probably not. Seems to have slipped by most people. No worries. I’m sure it wasn’t meant to make us think.

Perhaps now, though we should embrace it. Maybe, we should each make it our own personal theme song. I mean, why not? It is catchy, after all.

Did you enjoy that? I hope so.

Enjoy, your day!”

Why You And The Rich Lose

horizon no-way-out-phil-koch

“Why is it everything can be going great and then turn for the worse? What screws it up? Why do you have problems? Why do the fabulously successful fail? If they made it to the top why don’t they stay there? Is it all luck or is it something we do? How does one succeed and remain successful?

If you don’t become an intentional deliberate creator you risk losing everything while trying to hang on. That is why some people who reach the pinnacle lose. They create it and get to the top. Once they have it, once they are there, they get greedy and try to hold onto it. They attempt to horde it. You can’t clutch a butterfly!

Instead of living in abundance and continuing to create more they lose what they have because they become fearful of losing it. They attempt to hang onto it or horde it. Their mindset goes from ‘I’m wealthy and deserving’, ‘there is plenty for everyone’,  to frightened they may lose. If you focus on losing you will lose.

You bring about what you think about. What you focus on is what you get. Affirmations can be positive or negative. If you are fearful you create and attract more reasons to be afraid. If you are negative things worsen. The more you do the more you can do. YOU get WHATEVER you focus on. Birds of a feather flock together.

Lottery winners go broke usually. They win big BUT they never develop the wealthy mindset nor the responsibility that comes with money and power. Instead they spend it all away. To be wealthy you need to feel wealthy. Wealth is a mindset not lots of cash. You can be rich with or without any money. Money is only a part of true wealth.

What We Think About We Become

Those who ‘luck into it’ frequently return to what they had. They return to the lifestyle that their mindset governs.  Since they aren’t wealthy in between the ears they don’t know how to manage and keep wealth. Those who succeed and stay successful continue to create and manifest.

Those who remain successful operate from a mindset that there is plenty for everyone. They manifest for others as well as themselves. They aren’t afraid of losing because they are having too much fun creating and winning. They enjoy their wealth and their money.

They aren’t fearful they are bold. It is a matter of course that they will make great things happen each day because they make good use of the time they have here. Some of us waste time, lord knows I have. Some of us struggle. I sure have.

It rains and it shines. Through it all is your attitude. If you attitude is as wonderful when it rains as when it shines you are on the right track. Do not get discouraged if circumstances sour, keep the faith. You must not let obstacles and challenges get the better of you.

You must fix your mindset such that you welcome tough times as much as you welcome easy times. Realize you are a champion and whatever comes your way you are resourceful enough to navigate. You, and perhaps with the help of others, perhaps not, can make it through anything. Decide this is they type of person you are.

Stay focused. Do not get greedy and needy when things don’t work out, keep the faith. Your attitude determines you altitude. Do not succumb to trying to hang on and hoarding. Celebrate everything. It is an abundant world we live in. Live without fear but with confidence. Live with passion. Live with delight! Have fun, enjoy it! Stay true!” Rex Sikes

Never Break Your Promise To Yourself Or Others!

horizons and-in-a-whispered-moment-she-was-gone-phil-koch

“When you break your word you may develop a bad reputation. Your word is your bond. In order to be known as a person of value you want to and need to keep your promises and follow through on your intentions. When you break your word you let everyone down including yourself.

When you break your promise to yourself you sabotage yourself for the future. It harms you just as it harms others when you do it to them. Stop self sabotage. Keep your word. A promise made to yourself is one of the most important promises you can make. Keep it!

When you break your promise you become untrustworthy. It is the same when you don’t follow through on those you tell yourself. No matter how small that broken promise may be. You make it more difficult to follow through on larger ones. You let yourself down too.

If You Really Want To Do Something You Find A Way

If you say tomorrow I shall arise at 6am. Do it! Or don’t think it. If you don’t make it a condition for arising tomorrow it isn’t an issue. The issue is when you determine to do something, intend to do something and then don’t follow through.

Stop doing that. Keep your promises to yourself and to others. You are only as reliable as your word. Your word should be golden. Use it to create what you want. Use it to attract what you want. Do not use it to criticize yourself or others. Live your word. Follow through on your positive intentions. Stop making excuses for your behavior.

One way to learn to do this. Make a small list of things you intend to do tomorrow. A small list is fine to start. I intent to get up at 6am. I intend to finish report at work by three. i intend to pick up groceries for dinner on way home. Something like that. Then do each and cross it off.

If You Don’t Want To Do Something You’ll Find An Excuse

Keep up this practice for awhile. Determine what you intend to do and do it. Cross it off. After a few weeks add a couple more. There is a great reason for doing this I shall explain later.  This forms the foundation for good things that follow.  An immediate benefit is you and others get used to you following through on your word, That is a good thing! Celebrate it! Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes

Breaking News! Success Won’t Make You Happy But This Will!

horizons-spiritual-calling-phil-koch

“Breaking news! Success won’t make you happy. Wait, there is more. Borne out by science and decades of research; Success won’t make you happy BUT happy can make you successful! Yes, again, I repeat, happiness leads to success. Happiness leads to success!

From ancient times until now it has been pointed out that happiness and positive thinking and optimistic thinking is healthy and leads to better health, wealth, and abilities. Happiness makes you better at what you do and makes what you do much easier. Sadly, most people, through the centuries, got it backwards.

Sadly, people believe the right job or success, the right partner or mate,  money or things would make them happy. They thought happiness came as a result of something else happening first.

Sad again. They only discovered that they delayed feeling good, if at all, and that even acquiring many things still left them feeling empty. It is because IT really is the other way around! It IS the other way!

It is time to straighten everyone out. The happier you are the healthier you tend to be. Happiness affects your health, your well-being, you ability to handle or process stress, your thinking and clarity and your productivity. The happier you are the more you can accomplish.

Happiness Is Its Own Reward And Has Multiple Benefits

Since the early 80’s I have been teaching workshops pointing out that by practicing happiness and positivity you could develop new neural pathways. You could develop wonderfully supportive habits, live more delightfully, successfully and happily, easily and nearly effortlessly.

You could open up your neurology to be capable of evolving yourself in positive ways. I suggested you could create positive habits which would positively serve you.

In my workshops we practice daily gratitude, asking positive directed questions, smiling more, laughing meditation, feeling good and accessing wonderful and powerful resource states, imaging a better future, scanning for positive and new moments each day and more. A lot more. But these were core rituals or practices.

We had rituals we did each class session and each day. I pointed out that making a habit requires a minimum of 21 days repeated practice or rehearsal. What people began as practice during my  10 or 14 day programs they were encourage to continue back home.

Habits Come From Rituals And Rituals Become Habits

Rituals are things we do everyday. For some people that includes hygiene, brushing teeth and washing. We eat, sleep, go to school or work. We may read the paper or get online. Have a cup of coffee. There are things we do regularly each and every day; sometimes multiple times throughout the day.

Spaced repetition builds habit. Correct spaced repetition builds reliable skill. Reading instructions doesn’t change you but implementing what the instructions tell you to do can change you. This is why I suggest doing these practices as often as possible each day.

I called it rehearsal, from my acting background, or the kind of conditioning athletes go through or practice professional sports teams undergo to build reliable skill sets for performance.

Create The Happiness Habit

I was harshly criticized in a number of books and publications as promoting pseudoscience and pie in the sky thinking. I was even accused (rightly) of utilizing the placebo effect.

How cool of me! Then again, they scoffed because I told people we could deliberately utilize the placebo effect. Some finally are catching on. Some Psychologists, as are scientists, catching up.

I and others pointed to things like ‘mirror neurons’ prior to their discovery. We knew through mediation, rapport studies, and other practice that many things were ‘contagious’. Smiling, rapport, happiness, peace, relaxation are infectious.

One person, neurologically, can affect another. Large groups practicing the meditation or laughter or peace have a dynamic, synergistic effect and affect others, even those not practicing. Hooray, some are finally catching on! Not nearly enough though.

Decades later research has verified what I knew back then, and far greater minds than mine have known for centuries. The better you feel the better you do. I repeat. The better you feel the better you do. Happiness leads to success and not the other way around.

Happiness is a choice! Practice feeling better a little bit each day. By practicing daily you eventually make it a reliable habit AND grow new neural pathways and connections thereby overall evolving yourself!!! Research Neuroplasticity and evolving your brain.

Here is the rub with science. IT is usually behind not ahead except for some cases. Scientific testing works this way to test a theory. Scientists make a claim, or stated hypotheses.

Happiness Is A Choice

Then they try to disprove the hypothesis. If it can’t be disproved it is accepted as the best theory you currently have for explaining what is going on. In research validation, they seek independent replication of results.

Science takes time to verify and establish new theories and validate. Not all science is equal, nor is it all good, nor is testing or reporting or publishing or disseminating the findings reliable or always upright.

BUT STILL much of science is what we hope it to be. Rigorous and trustworthy. OPEN and flexible. Because science is supposed to update theories, as better explanations become available, through testing.

Choose To Be Happy And You Will Be

There are many abstracts citing the research and conclusions. You can look them up. Look up topics such as happiness, optimism, placebo, overcoming depression naturally, mindfulness, meditation, relaxation, mirror neurons,  etc.

There are many, MANY, books written citing the research in health, healing, attitude, psychology, meditation, spirituality. One I want to refer you to (not only because it concludes and incorporates many of the practices that I and others have taught for many years but) because they really delved into researching the topic.

You can read Shawn Anchor’s findings and the research conclusions in The Happiness Advantage: The Seven Principles of Positive Psychology That Fuel Success and Performance at Work. He has since published other books. Available at amazon. Check out the research and the results.

Why Would You Ever Choose To Not Be Happy

If you aren’t going to read it then at least stay tuned to this blog. I will bring you the latest and greatest as well as the oldest and the tried and true.

HAPPINESS is something that you can have more of anytime. If you do certain things you are guaranteed to become happier. It can be as easy as a couple minutes spent daily.

While, it probably won’t occur overnight it will occur in time as you stick with it. One of the greatest life transforming things you can do, is to practice gratitude. Feel gratitude, live it daily.

In my workshops I had people create list of 25 things they were grateful for each night. Shawn has them do as few as three every day. Something so simple can be so profound.

We’ll discuss more. We have happiness, beliefs, and a number of topics currently in play here. So keep reading and re-reading. Most importantly, begin doing, if you haven’t already, and keep doing.

You can rewire your brain, feel better, be healthier, think more clearly and enjoy more success and prosperity as you do! SO Celebrate everything!” Rex Sikes
