What If You Already Had Everything You Always Wanted?

“We think we are separate but we are not. We are all connected in every way. We are all humans made from the same stuff. We breath the same air, live on the same planet. We are one species. We are one people.

We are one. Some will tell you we are made from the same stuff that everything there is is made from. I don’t disagree. You and I and plants and trees and rocks and things are all made from the same stardust.

We seem to forget that. We think we are separate. That is the big illusion and delusion. Some believe we purposely forgot in order to re-discover, in order to play the game. Whether that is accurate or not I can appreciate it.

Seek And You Will Find

Certainly, we seem to have forgotten something. Who we are at our very core. It seems we are beings of light and goodness. We are creators and attractors. We are the very things we seek. Yet, we still seek because we have forgotten.

So remember. DO whatever it takes to discover who you are inside. Look to your source, the source within. Re-discover the abundance, the love, the compassion, the kindness, the peace that is already yours.

Isn’t it silly to look for something you already have? Claim it. This makes sense to me. Become the change you desire by realizing you are already what you desire. You just have to get out of your own way and release the you from within.

Ask And You Will Be Given

Unleash your passion and your joy. Release your receptivity and acceptance. Bring forth your abundance and good will. Let your light shine and let all good things flow from you. Stop struggling to have what you already possess.

Own it. Be it. You will have more of it when you realize you aren’t actually lacking anything. You only think you are. That is the big deception, the delusion, the illusion. You are already it. Start acting like it. Accept it, believe it, celebrate it.

When you do new doors of being will open up for you. As long as you want it you are paying attention to lack and what you don’t want. You are denying you are already that and ignoring who and what you are. You are suppressing it. Let it go! Be it and you will have it!

Knock And The Door Will Be Opened

You are it right now. Now is all there is. When you understand and wake up to this you will know that it is true and you have had everything you ever needed or could ever want available to you always at all times. You are already that which you seek.

You deny it. Stop. Wake up and stop dreaming. You are already more than enough.. You are powerful, positive, love and happiness. You are health and wealth and abundance. You are receiving and generously giving. You are One with everything. Wake up to it” Rex Sikes

How Easy It Is To Hate And Why

“Why do people treat each other poorly? Why do we have such little regard for our own species? Why do we hate those unlike us? I am not sure I have any answer to these important questions but I learned much from some adventures during the 80’s.

I have become convinced that focusing on hate and trying to rid oneself or others of hate is as futile as anything else we have tried to rid ourselves of. We don’t stop hating by legislating against it, however, we may curb it by focusing on love and acceptance.

We need to focus on what we do want and not what we don’t want. We identify what we don’t want, yes! Then we put our attention onto what we do want instead. This keeps up moving forward regarding our goals.

If we want to end hate and discrimination we need to be love. We attract that which we already are, we create from whom we are. We need to be it not simply want it. Wanting it means it has not arrived yet. If we are it we already embody that which is necessary for change. I believe this is an important distinction.

A Journey Of Sorts

“Here is what I experienced. From 1980 to 1990 I had been a sannyasin of Osho otherwise formerly known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. I fell in love with the little guy’s message from books and listening to tapes.

I had been a student of the mind since I was 11. I read every book I could on spirituality, meditation, powers of the mind, Napoleon Hill and New Thought leaders, religious text, hypnosis and other disciplines. I sought to improve myself and evolve as a person.

I adored the message and promise  of meditation. I had spent time with others, including Swami Muktananda, Satchidananda, Krishnamurti.  Living in Los Angeles allowed me to have access to other prominent speakers and thinkers East and West.

When Osho came to America and headed west to Oregon I decided to go too.  I had received sannyas in Laguna Beach at an ashram center. So when I could, whenever I could, I went to stay or live in Oregon at the city commune. There were some dedicated people who lived and stayed there year round. I came and went.

Initiation Into Sannyas And Living With Awareness

Taking sannyas then meant  wearing clothes the colors of the sunrise as a reminder of one’s commitment to meditation. It meant wearing a mala, a neckless of 108 beads, to represent 108 forms of mediation. It meant taking a sannyas name. I did all three.

I was very aware that wearing red clothes and beads was my clown suit. It was different from the jeans and clothes I wore and most others did. To say I stood out is an understatement I suppose. I certainly did. A red orange beacon in a sea of brown and blue.

I lost friends because I wore red clothes. Suddenly, I was a cult member. I must be brainwashed were the statements I heard. I tried to explain that I could always take off the outer trappings; which are no different today than wearing branded clothing from popular designers. I was branded a sannyasin in the East. In the West I was branded a cult member.

I wore a brand – sannyasin wear. I was identifiable by being an odd ball. AND yes I could always remove them if I chose. I chose not to. It was, for me, an exercise in awareness. At first, prior to becoming a sannyasin, the thought of anything other than jeans, blue jeans was terrifying. Wearing beads absolutely out of the question.

Clown Suit Colors Are Most Fast Food Colors And Then Some

Once I put them on it took some time to become comfortable. As I stated it was an exercise for me. Not for anyone else. While I wore the sannyas, monk trappings that separated me from the rest of ‘normal’ society as a catholic priest or nun would, I didn’t consider myself different or special.

I sought to allow mediation to be my life. Anyway, I learned that I did not have a problem with the colors or the beads but that others did. My clown suit became a marvelous testing ground. When asked, I tried to explain to people the clothes and colors were meaningless.

They didn’t make me better or worse. They were clown colors. I didn’t have to wear them I chose to wear them. It didn’t matter. People believed whatever they wanted to regardless of my explanation. I did look like a walking fast food restaurant I suppose.

People either accepted me, got to know me, or they didn’t. The clothing and the beads was a barrier. It was right where most people stopped and drew conclusions. I figured they didn’t even begin to see me if all they did was stop at the colors.

Everything Is A Choice

Some made it  through the barrier of red, orange and purple clothes when blue and brown and green ruled the day. Some people couldn’t accept a beaded person in flamboyant jeans and tee shirts. I still wore traditional jeans and tees just dyed a different color.

Many times I was asked if I was gay. I must be they concluded. No real man wore purple or maroon. I was shunned. People would stare and comment. People would point, snicker and laugh. I was followed many, many times and taunted.

I was screamed at and called names. I was threatened with violence and told to go back to my country. I was physically chased out of places and many times accosted. I had guns pointed at me a couple of times.

In Oregon I was refused food in restaurants and gas at gas stations. In the LA airport one man passing out gospel tracks shouted repeatedly at the top of his lungs for someone to shoot and kill me.

He drew the attention of the police to the area. They ultimately settled everything down and stated he had the right to his opinion. He was expressing free speech and they left. As did I.

We Are Constantly Choosing

L A was less hostile because there are so many odd people wearing odd things. I traveled the country. I spent time in the East and in NYC, the Midwest and the South always dressed in my clown wear. Different parts of the country had greater degrees of intolerance.

Through all of my experiences I faced with myself. Does this bother me or not? Is it important? Is it my issue or someone else’s? Do I care what they think? Can I accept them even if they don’t accept me?

What they do has nothing to do with me because they don’t even know me. They are upset at my clothing and what it means to them. There were some times when I lapsed and made it my issue.

Most of the time I realized I was wearing clothes that, for whatever reason, others had problems with. Others took issue with my clown suit choice and made it about me. A person they did not know. Maybe they didn’t care to know and that was fine.

We Are All The Same

I was a provoking beacon traveling through the world. I learned opinions and actions of others were their own and had nothing to do with who I was or am. They didn’t know me they only saw the beads and clothes. That wasn’t my problem so I didn’t make it mine.

I am not saying I was always aware or awake or that I wasn’t at times offended or frightened. For the most part though I knew inside I could take these off and no one would be the wiser. I would immediately fit in. I would be accepted. I knew it was my choice.

Because of this I chose to wear them. I wore them because from moment to moment it was a reminder of my decision to live as a meditator and live peacefully. I am no better than anyone in any regard. I have those things that I took or take issue with.

This exercise has helped me see my sticking or stopping points. It has made me more aware of when I get stuck and stop short and do not go beyond and investigate more. We are people. We are cut from the same swatch. We all have areas of issues.

Learn To Respond Instead Of React

People’s responses could push my buttons and I could react or respond. I sought to learn how to respond in the moment with awareness and acceptance of whatever is. I could wear them or not it didn’t matter. There would always be something someone could find an issue about. Isn’t there?

Because I had an unusual Swami name, wore beads and silly colored clothing people assumed I gave up my mind to a guru and did whatever he said. Not true. They thought I gave up my will and would follow blindly anywhere. Not true.

The believed I gave all my money and worldly possessions to the ashram but I never gave a dime. No one ever asked either. Some times I tried to explain, when asked, but l learned most people concluded whatever they would conclude about me because of the clown suit.

My words didn’t mean much or make much impact anyway. If my explanation mattered it meant they would have to believe differently. I was stereotyped because that is what we as people do. It is convenient and we don’t have to think anything through.

Beliefs Run The Show: What We Believe Is What We See

It’s a no-brainer based on obvious characteristics. So I let them think what they wanted. I let go of attempting to change their opinions. Their opinions and name calling and actions against me had nothing to do with me. They were reacting to the clothing colors.

Sure, they were reacting to the person who wore them but they did so in ignorance of who the person was. That was their problem not mine. Yes, it could be dangerous for me at times, but I was learning so much about what we as people do inside our heads about others.

I developed some strong marvelous non-sannyasin friends too because they could see past the outfit. In some ways I wore it to see who was the type of person who could get around it in their mind. If they were able and were able to get to know me and I them then we could be very honest with each other.

I had some incredible girlfriends. I had amazing sannyasin friends and non-sannyasin friends. I moved in places where people could care less about what was worn and in other places where what you wore meant people wanted to beat you up.

Do Not Stop At The Obvious Be Willing To Go Beyond

It was an incredible exercise.  I learned so much about me. I learned so much about people and triggers and acceptance and hatred. I learned all this because I chose to do it. Did I tell you, I always knew I could take it off and slip back into the ‘normal’ world? Yes, I know I did but this is an important point.

OTHER people can’t take off their skin color or their gender. They live in their skin and in their body every moment of each and every day. Some encounter horrible cruelty and even death because of the family, the nation, the religion they were born into, not the least their color and ethnic heritage.

I could always remove it. Because I knew this made me want to wear it all the more. I got to experience a tiny taste of the prejudices and even violence directed at people because they are different. I was safe because I knew if I ever had to I could remove the outer wear and walk right through the haters. I never did but I could have.

Awareness Is A Choice

My clown suit was a luxury. A lesson few of us get to live and learn from. It was so valuable as a reminder to be aware and to let go and be meditative. If others hate you you do not have to hate back. You can, you may even, but you do not have to. You can choose.

I am so glad for my clown suit. The time came when the decision was made that people go and live among the rest. Drop the colors and the beads and the name. The ‘great exercise’ was over. Boy, that was hard. My clown suit was a tool for my awareness. If I wasn’t confronted moment to moment then what would happen?

Let me interrupt and make something perfectly clear. I don’t actually know what it is like to walk in another person’s shoes for even a single step. I got a taste of something from which came some realizations. What others face because of what they are born to can be unimaginable at times.

I only got a tiny, very tiny glimpse of a sliver of what some people must endure. I am not making any comparison. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn to be more accepting and to recognize choice points. For me, it was an incredible lesson and challenging exercise but so worth the years of doing it.

It was difficult to give it up but once I did I realized there are always buttons and triggers. It doesn’t matter. It seems we get to encounter ourselves no matter where we are. Alone or with others we are faced with who we are what kind of person we are.

Every Moment Is An Opportunity To Embrace

The world and others, even your own self is a great mirror being held up in front of you. What bothers us, gets us snagged up, frustrated, down and out, making excuses  and or being critical of ourself and others, blaming others, hating others, is a reflection and an opportunity.

We stare back at the other person who is reflecting us. Their behaviors mirror our own in some way. BUT we can choose. YES, it may be difficult but we can choose. We either reject it and fight it or them or we accept the lesson and let go of the anger and rejection.

It is a glimpse of oneself and one’s beliefs and conditioning. It is a look into what internal or external conflicts we may have. It is a little signal to get our attention so we can be aware, drop it, and go beyond it. It is benevolence disguised as pain.

Whether in red or blue clothes the world and its people provide opportunity to wake up. We can resist it or we can let go. We can love ourselves and everyone else through it all. We can find a higher road and not succumb to the lowest common denominator. We need to embrace all people because we are one people.

Seek The High Road

Love don’t hate. Be blind to differences that do not matter. Embrace yourself and embrace all those around you. Life is far to short for hate and discord. We need much more time to love and party. We can delight and celebrate and be grateful for all things. We should never stop at the obvious but seek to understand and embrace.

We are all far more similar than we are different. We are different mostly at the surface level. Some endure far more pain and suffering from hate and intolerance than anyone ever should. That is just wrong.

We need to embrace each other as the one species we are and seek love. Our differences make us richer and better. I have said for decades in seminars that what stops people is a thought. The notion ‘I can’t’ or ‘I am unable’ or ‘I won’t’ or ‘I refuse’ is what stops people from moving forward in positive ways.

Live Love Laugh Celebrate

I learned people stop at the most silly things. Color for one. Even color of clothing. WOW isn’t that an odd one? Type of hair, shape of eyes, size of nose, lips, dialect, gender you name it someone can make it an issue. They do literally stop. They do not seek to go beyond.

Going beyond requires being open. It requires acceptance of what is without judgement. We can use more of this, don’t you think? Focus on love not on hate. Don’t even hate the hate. Be love. Be kind. Be compassionate. Be acceptance.  Live, Love, Laugh and celebrate all. ” Rex Sikes

Happiness Is Fleeting While Suffering Lasts: How To Change This!

“Have you ever notice time flies when you are having fun? It passes quickly. Consider this. Happiness seems fleeting. This is because we enjoy it. We want it and like it. It comes and it goes quickly.

Einstein allegedly said, and I paraphrase, ‘time is relative. An hour with a wonderful woman seems like a minute. Sitting on a hot stove for a minute seems like an hour.’ Isn’t that the truth?

When we have feelings we don’t want they seem to persist. On and on and on they seem to go. They last and last almost forever. Why do you imagine that is?

It is because we resist them. We don’t like them so we fight them. As a result they last forever. You have heard it said, ‘what we resist persists.’ We attempt to block them. We fight the energy and dam it up.

Whatever You Resist Persists

This only makes the pressure build. On and on they go and we continue to not like it. We continue to fight them. Like a grudge war it  can go on forever.  We perpetuate what we don’t want.

Happy feelings are fleeting because we don’t resist them. We don’t prolong them by fighting them. They come and they go. All feelings do.  All would probably come and go pretty much at the same rate.

If we let them. If we didn’t care about negative or bad feelings they would arise and then subside as positive or happy feelings do. Perhaps, not as quickly but sooner rather than later.

It is the fight that the lasting energy is produced. The conflict keeps them around and provides them more energy. They push we push back. Then they push back and we push back. It continues on.

Like Water – Seek The Path Of Least Resistance

So is there anything we can do about bad feelings? It turns out there is. However, you probably aren’t going to like it that much.

Accept them. Allow them. They will come and they will go. They will pass. YES, it seems difficult. You have spent a lifetime fighting them. You grew up fighting them. Allow them and they will pass.

Very few people have been raised in awareness. I wasn’t. You probably weren’t. So when it comes to accepting what we don’t like as the solution most of us aren’t very quick to jump on that wagon.

Instead, it seems we have to come to this conclusion  through our suffering. We grew up one way, most of us, doing what our parents told us to or did. We modeled them. We followed their examples.

Past Results Are Not An Indication Of Future Results

As a result you and I have the habit of resisting. We feel the emotions in our body because we don’t like them. We have labeled them as bad, wrong and unwanted. We try to eliminate them.

We fight and resist and prolong them. We have to stop fighting if we want them to go away faster. It seems counter intuitive but it isn’t. The quickest was to get rid of your purse is to drop it. Let it go.

Gravity takes care of the rest once you let go. Yes, it is an analogy but it works. You let go of your investment in fighting. You drop it. You don’t have to try to drop a glass of water you just let it go.

Of course, meditators and others spend time learning to let go. They practice awareness. They practice observing without getting involved. The look within without judgement. This is great practice!

Change The Channel And Divert Your Attention

You change the channel. If you ever watched a movie at night that disturbed you this is the best way to not keep thinking of it. Change the channel! It works because it diverts your attention.

Turning off the TV never worked, did it? When you shut it off you are left alone to think about what you just watched. It gets worse because you try to fight the thoughts and make them go away.

So what do you do to stop thinking about it? Change channel. Watch something you enjoy. Once you get caught up in what you enjoy you are free of the bothersome thoughts and images. It works!

It really works and yes it too is an analogy. You learn to put your attention in a more delightful place. There is a thread woven through these blogs I hope you notice. You direct your attention.

Energy Flows Where Your Attention Goes

Typically, when you feel bad it is a signal you are thinking about what you don’t want. You’re focused on less than glorious concerns. You’re  occupied with comparing and suffering as a result.

It is a signal to turn your attention to what you do want instead. It is an opportunity signal to switch the channel. To let go or drop the negative and focus on what you want and what you can create.

One of the benefits of meditation is the ability to watch our thoughts and feelings. You simply observe and feel without labeling or judgement. It is Choice-less Awareness.

One does not choose what is going on. One observes.The meditator watches thoughts as if they were leaves on a stream being carried by the water

Learn The Art Of Choiceless Awareness

Meditation may be a practice you want to include. When you discover you have spent time feeling bad or thinking negatively you do not beat yourself up. Instead view yourself as a meditator would.

Don’t judge. Observe. Let go of criticism. Simply notice. You will move through the less than glorious feeling faster if you do not fight yourself or criticize yourself. Encourage yourself to learn from it.

Meditation has wonderful benefits.. There are many forms. Perhaps, you might find one you can practice.

A key for self improvement is awareness. We become aware of what needs to change. We don’t judge it as bad or ourselves as bad we just go ahead and make the change.

You Become What You Think About

Day gives way to night. Night gives way to day. It is cyclic. Feelings come and go. Whatever we lock onto remains. Whatever we fight, however we fight it, sticks around to fight back.

You get what you focus on. Resistance is why your negative feelings last. Good feelings you welcome so they come and you enjoy them. They give way to something else. You don’t fight them.

The move swiftly. Negative feelings would most likely pass soon as well.  Once good feelings are gone you may fight their absence. You may struggle and strain to recapture them.

If you notice the lack and you long for the good feelings you are caught up in comparing. You are resisting their absence thus prolonging their absence.

Focus On What You Have Not On What You Lack

Whatever we focus on is what we get. This is the huge lesson that takes some of us a while to fully get. It doesn’t matter whether it is good or bad whatever we focus on we get back more of.

You feel less than glorious by longing for good feelings. Let it go. Realize you have behaved habitually. These are habits and you can break habits. It may take some time and dedication but you can do it.

New habits and new neural pathways can be created any time you choose to. Don’t fight anything. If you catch yourself fighting don’t fight that. Stop, recognize what you’re doing. Take a deep breath.

And stop! It won’t help if you criticize and condemn yourself. Let it go. Accept that is what you did and appreciate that you are in the process of learning a new way of being. Be gentle on yourself.

You Are Building New Neural Pathways And New Habits

Resolve to have fun and to delight. Take it lightly! Enjoy the process. You may fall many times but get back up.  It is okay to fall. But get right back up. Don’t wallow by staying down. Get up. Go on!

When you notice a less than glorious feeling realize it is a signal to place your attention and energy elsewhere. Focus on something that helps you feel a little bit better. That is all you need to do.

Feel a little better bit by bit. Step by step. When you feel bad do whatever is necessary to feel a little bit better. You are training yourself to leave the bad feeling for a better feeling.

This is how you begin to make a new habit.You are learning to search for better feelings. You look elsewhere to what feels better. You develop your ability to look for and find other ways to be.

You Are In Charge So Be In Control 

Instead being a victim of your thoughts and feelings you take charge. Little by little, through repeated effort over time, you will make leaving the bad feelings behind for better feelings a habit.

You will retrain your brain and your behaviors. This is all completely within your control. Inch your way along positively reinforcing all that you do. If you fall, so what, dust yourself up and go again.

Soon you will have better and better feelings and you will experience more happiness and joy. Focus on what you want not on what you don’t have or don’t want. You are building new habits.

Put your energy into what transforms you in positive and powerful ways. Withdraw it from anything that does not. You will feel better more frequently as a result. Be gentle and be kind to yourself.

Gratitude Is The Attitude That Changes Everything For The Better

Congratulate yourself when you make advances. Pat yourself on the back for attempting it no matter the result. Keep at it until you get more of the results you want. If you persist you will win.

What you resist will remain. What you celebrate may come and go but you will celebrate more often moment to moment. Enjoy the moment. That is the only thing you really have to transform.

A great place to put your attention is on those areas of your life you celebrate and are thankful for. Anything and everything you appreciate; people, events, things, activities, hobbies, places.

Be grateful for your ability to make changes more easily. So what if it is difficult at first, just as everything else, you get better at in in time with repeated correct practice. Appreciate yourself and your abilities.

Life is good. Enjoy it and you will enjoy it even more!  Put your energy and attention on the delights and tiny moments at each opportunity and you will discover yourself blessed with countless more. You get what you focus on!” Rex Sikes

You Must Feel Your Way To Happiness & Success

Disney If You Can Dream It

“Most people have it completely backwards. Do you?  They put the cart before the horse. Are you? Most people think if they make enough money or acquire enough things they will feel happy and successful. Is this you as well?

If you think getting it and having it will make you happy you will be disappointed as so many are.  It works completely the other way around. Things don’t make us happy. Money doesn’t make us happy. Those who have will tell you. Be happy first! Feel rich first!

Be happy and you will get and have what you want. Be happy first! Be successful first! It isn’t the things that make you happy but being happy makes it possible to get the things you want. The feelings make it possible.

Feel Your Way To Happiness And Success

You feel your way to success! That is the way it works. People think if you do the right things you will feel successful but it is completely the other way around. Feel it first and you will have it. FEEL IT!

This is why I keep emphasizing what the masters have emphasized since ancient times. See it ‘as if’ you already have it. It is done and you have accomplished it. It is right now and you are everything you want to be, do and have. Feel what that feels like! Really feel it!

See and FEEL how incredible it feels to have it right now! Not off in the future sometime. It is not coming to you but it is right now! It is present! NOW is the only time your subconscious mind understands. The present is the only time we actually have.

Feel It Now In The Present Moment

Now, in this present moment you feel successful.  Feel happy; feel healthy; feel wealthy; feel yourself in an awesome loving relationship; feel deeply, lovingly connected to your family; feel surrounded by positive, powerful people.

THIS is how you get what you want! Feel it first and you open the doorway. You create and attract all that is necessary because your mind, your feelings, are aligned with your desires and you behave in the most productive and powerful and positive ways.

Good things come to those who are fulfilled! Those who have will have more because they celebrate abundance! They feel incredible. They are not worried about or focused on lack. You don’t get rich by feeling poor. You don’t get freedom feeling restricted.

Feel Good Most Of The Time

Most people don’t have what they want because they are busy feeling the way they do because of present circumstances. They are reacting to what it. They feel less than glorious. You will not be glorious if you spend most of your time feeling less than glorious.

You must see that future you. You must feel that future you right now INSTEAD of your current situation. Your attention and energy must be on what you want rather than on what you do not want. This is where most people mess up.

If you want your life to change you feel how you want to feel first. If you want your life to change you will have to change some things in your life. Change your feelings and the results will follow.  If you want positive results you begin with positive feelings.

Your Feelings Are The Key

Think Attractor for a moment just as a concept. A magnet attracts that which is like it. It doesn’t attract those elements or things that are not like it. The same principle applies to you and me. Become it in your mind and body first and you shall have it in reality.

A Creator can’t create anything unless the creator first knows what to create. The idea has to be there. The same is true about getting what you want. You must know what it is. BUT you can’t put it off. You must image it as existing now. See it and feel it now!

The story is told about Walt Disney. He had created DisneyLand and had a dream to create DisneyWorld. He fell ill and died prior to its opening. More than one person said to his brother Roy, ‘it’s so sad Walt didn’t see this.’

Roy responded, ‘Are you kidding? It is because Walt SAW this that we have DisneyWorld!’ His vision, his passion, his desire and enthusiasm paved the way for DisneyWorld. He lived his dream and it became reality. You don’t doubt what you already have!

See It – Feel It – Speak It – And It Shall Be

It is so simple! It is not always easy but it is simple. Feel good most of the time and you will get what you want. You get what you focus on. Get in charge of your thoughts and feelings. Your thoughts and feelings make it happen. This is your attitude and mindset!

Take control of your life! This is fully within your power. It may not seem like it because you haven’t exercised it much. This is what you and I and others ARE able to control and to do! Start small, in small way,s and if you persist you will end up with large, positive results!

Being comes before doing or having. Affirm what you want as though it already exists for you. BUT it is not merely the words. IT is the feeling you put into the words that makes it happen. FEEL IT! See it, speak it, feel it, live it and you shall have it!” Rex Sikes

Use This Key To Unlock The Door To Your Dreams & Desires

“What does believing mean? What does it mean to have faith? Why is this important when it comes to making your dreams come true? How does it apply to your career goals, being the person you want to be or having what you want to get in life?

In previous blog posts I’ve pointed out the necessity of maintaining a positive mindset and the importance of ‘Believe It And You Will See it’. This concept is how everything works but it is not the typical way most people think.

Most People Think When I See It Then I Will Believe It

This latter attitude keeps people in the dark because they focus on present circumstances. Their mindset works this way.  Only once they are convinced it can be otherwise, then AND only then, will they believe it can be otherwise. It is the reason things don’t work.

Instead of being focused on what they want and believing they can make it happen they are focused on what they don’t want waiting to be convinced somehow it will be different. So they remain the same. They get what they focus on. They get what they don’t want.

To be, do or have what you want you must focus on what you want to the exclusion of all else. You can not let yourself be distracted from what it is you want to make happen. You are the creator of it so create it. Believe you can do it and you will. Stay properly focused.

You Must Believe It First And Then You Will See It

Listen to stories of those people who reached the top in entertainment, in finance, in sports, whatever endeavor in life and you repeatedly hear stories that they KNEW they were destined to become a top player regardless of the obstacles.

They KNEW IT within them. They never lost faith.  Even when it appeared hopeless the kept going!  They worked in spite of the odds until they made it. This is how we need to believe. We need to EXPECT that it will happen. We need to KNOW we can accomplish it.

You can not wish or hope. You can not be half assed. You must be convinced that you will fulfill your greatest desire and you must passionately pursue it. You must persist in the pursuit until you have what you want. There is not alternative. You just do it!

You Must Ask Believing

Sure, you can hope, you can pray, you can think it is all about luck. That will not get you closer. Jesus said, ‘When you ask BELIEVE you will receive…’ so we can’t do less than that, can we? This is an important key concept. Believe it and you will see it!

We need to stop begging, whining and pleading. We need to command it into being. We need to declare what we want. We need to believe we will make it happen. We need to expect to get it.  Just as you do when you place an order in a restaurant.

Consider this analogy. You go into a restaurant. Hopefully, you are polite and I mean this. Waitstaff comes and says something similar to, ‘May I take your order?. You tell the person what you want they take it back to the cook. You wait after having placed YOUR order.

You Don’t Have To Muster Up Faith To Order Breakfast

You expect it to be delivered how you want it a little while later. You don’t sit there hoping and wishing and whining and complaining or fretting or worried or convinced it will never happen. You expect it to come the way you ordered it and you expect to get what you want.

With regard to the cook preparing it and it being delivered there are those who would liken that to the universe giving you what you want once you order is in. That is fine. I am not going there with this analogy at this time. I am only right now only addressing the ordering process and your faith in yourself.

While the waitstaff is gone you behave normally and concern yourself with reading or conversing or whatever you do. You occupy yourself because you know your food is coming. After all your order is in. After a while, it is served. You got what you ordered. You got what you wanted.

Know What You Want To Order

If you didn’t know what you wanted neither would anyone else. So the first important piece was to know what you want. When it comes to your dreams you need to know what you want and want it more than anything else.

You place your order. You declare what you will make happen.You stay focused on what you want to the exclusion of any evidence that tells you otherwise. You don’t let present circumstances distract you and you do not compare the wait time.

You don’t think, ‘I placed my order how long is this going to take’. Doing that keeps you focused on not having it yet. It keeps your attention on what you do not want. You have to have your focus on what you want. Your mind set needs to be right. You must believe.

Expect It – Know It 

You do not wish or hope.  You KNOW! You state it. You order it. You declare it! You command it! You demand it! You don’t dream it, you don’t pray or beg you ACCEPT it.

You Announce it. In fact, you don’t believe something is going to happen. Don’t put it off on someday in the future. You believe it has already happened! This is how you use your mind to create what you want. You see it as if it all already exists. It begins as an idea!

In your mind’s eye, visualize already having what you want. Imagine it fully as vividly as you are able. Full color, 3D, full sound with total feeling. Live it as though you have everything you want. FEEL IT. BASK in how good it feels. Imagine living in the house you will live in.

Stay Focused

Imagine working in the career you want successfully. Imagine a loving relationship. Imagine all your bills paid and enough money to do whatever you want when you want to. See people congratulating you and discussing your success.

Hear it! Hear people congratulate you. Hear what they say and what you say in return. Feel their handshakes and embraces. Feel how good it feels. Live the life you want to be living. It is the feelings combined with the images that place your order with your subconscious. Feel it fully.

Keep all your self-talk positive. Speak only to bless heal and prosper. Don’t speak about what you don’t want. Affirm what you want. Stay true to your pursuit. Stay focused, stay positive and powerful. Do not give your power away. Keep it an use it.

Once you put your order in with the waitstaff you don’t have to believe it will happen you KNOW it will happen. Treat life the same way. Expect good things. See them. Plan them in your mind’s eye.

Carry out the future in the present. Do not make it a when make it NOW! Make the future your current reality on the inside. What you focus on you get.  What you think you become.  Keep the faith!

Now Is The Only Time There Is

Live with an attitude of gratitude. Celebrate everything right now! Be focused on abundance not lack. Know you are making your dreams come true. The seeds are planted. The order is taken. Live as though you know it is yours. It is yours!

Own it! Declare it! Stop being a beggar. Stop fretting, hoping and worrying. Live as an emperor. YOU will make your dreams come true. Mind set is the very first and most important step to take.

Set aside time each day to imagine your life as you want it to be. Feel the very best you can as much as you can each day. Make feeling good and thinking positive a daily habit and your will be amazed at all the good things you starting creating and attracting.

Live positively! Live with passion. Live with enthusiasm! Feel the best you can moment to moment because it makes it all happen faster when you do. Be happy and enjoy all there is. Just like the others who knew they would succeed no matter what you can too! Do it!” Rex Sikes

Stop Making A Mess Of Things! How To Start Making What You Want!

“Do you know who you are and what you are capable of? Do you realize how powerful you are? I bet you don’t. I bet you are far more powerful than you ever give yourself credit for. Isn’t it about time you change that?

A useful mindset to adopt is that we are all creators. You are a creator. A powerful creator. You can do one thing and that is create.

You could think we are all attractors. You are an attractor. A powerful attractor. You do one thing and that is attract.

Magnetic Attractor And Creator

You are responsible for everything that you have in life, good or bad, and you always have been. Nothing has ever happened in your life that you didn’t attract or create.

For some this might be a scary thought. For me it is liberating. It means I have one hundred per cent responsibility for everything in my life. 

It doesn’t mean I need to feel bad and get down on myself because I have created some real messes in my life. Neither should you.

Responsibility Is Liberating

It means that all our lives we have been attracting and creating things we intended to and things we didn’t intend to.

We were haphazard in getting what we wanted. Sometimes we got good stuff and sometimes we got bad stuff.

With the realization that we can only attract or create and that we are 100% responsible comes the new freedom to decide only to create what we want.

That is why I am not going to was time criticizing myself or blaming or whining. I am going to make the most of it and determine what do I want to create?

Focus On What You Want  

What kind of life do I want? What kind of person do I want to be? Who do I want to include in my life?

How much love can I enjoy? I am going to focus on the good things. I am only going to focus on good things.

I am going to focus on a successful career and how much money I want. What kind of things do I want to do? With whom and where? How much fun can I stand?

As creators and attractors we get what we think about most. In the past we brought about good stuff but also brought about worry, fear, sadness, anger, division and lack.

Time to end that don’t you think?

Create what you want. Dream big! You get what you focus on. So focus on the positive, the best, the ‘I can do it’ and the ‘I can have it.’ Make your dreams come true in positive big ways.

Create What You Intend To Create

Create love, wealth, health and good times. Be the change you want to see in the world. Have the life and future you want. Remember we become what we think about.

In the past we created a lot we did not want. NOW that we know we are responsible decide to only create the good stuff from here on out.

You see how liberating this is.

You have the choice. You can choose what you want. You can focus your thoughts. Whenever something less than glorious comes up turn to the positive.

Focus on what you want and let go of what you do not want.

You Have Choice – Stay Positive

Stay positive. This is your power. You can choose. Maybe you didn’t choose well in the past but now you can. Make it a point to only bring about what you intend to. Think Positive!

Create the person you want to be. Create the life you want to have. Fill it with all the good and wonderful thoughts, feelings, people and things you can.

Celebrate everything. Be grateful and glad that you can choose. Now choose wisely. Make good things happen!” Rex Sikes

Use These 6 Simple Steps To Get Everything You Want

“Do you want more from life? Do you have everything you want yet? Would you like to know 6 easy steps that you can use to make your dreams come true?

Getting what you want can be difficult or easy. It is up to you. It depends on your mindset and your actions. It depends on your follow through. These 6 steps simply guide you and help keep you on track. Use them and you can revolutionize your life.

So, you set your goal. It is off in the future. What you do between then and now is important. Keep your expectations high. Keep faith in yourself and your ability to make your goal or dreams come true.

Stop Comparing Feel Good Instead

Between this time now and that time then keep your energy high and positive. Think and feel your very best. Spiritual people may say you need to vibrate happily. It is important we start from a good place. Mindset and attitude is everything. Positive expectations and faith in your ability to manifest the outcome you want are important.

The more positive, feeling good and happier you are the easier it all will be. Happiness brings more happiness. Success brings more success. Positive thoughts and positive feelings result in more of the same. Begin in the highest, positive place you are able. Focus on the positive and stay there.

Birds of a feather flock together. Whatever you think and feel positive or negative you attract more of. Be sure to chose the positive. Begin with high positive vibrations, mindset and attitude and you will get more back in return. It is important that you feel good. So, how do you feel good?

How To Feel Good

First: To help yourself feel good you  do those things that make you feel good. Use wise, healthy practices. Smile, laugh, do something nice for others. Do anything that makes you feel good. Walk, sing, dance. Go to a favorite place.

Clean your house if it makes you feel better. Treat yourself. Spend time with family or friends. Celebrate, count your blessings. Feel grateful. Volunteer, donate.  Do a favor or kindness. Anything healthy and positive that makes you feel better is available for you.

Second: Clarify what you want. Know your purpose. Set your goal. Be clear about what you want. Be committed. Affirm what you want and what you will do to get it. Affirm that you will keep at it no matter what. Be on purpose, be intentional, and keep your commitment.

Visualize it. Affirm it with strong feeling. Feel the firmness of your decision. Feel your resolve and joy and confidence Speak with authority. When you affirm and visualize imagine it as already completed. You have made it happen. Enjoy the feelings. Celebrate having made your dreams come true.

Get Clear On What You Want

Imagine having a discussion with someone close who celebrates you achievement and describe to this person how you made it happen. What easy step by step you took. How you kept your faith and persistence. Tell them why you  did it, what you did and how you did it to make it a reality for yourself.

Again remember, in your mind it has already happened and you have everything you want. Feel and bask in those feelings. As you picture and describe it and how you did it commit to taking the easy step by step approach. Work at making your goal come true bit by bit. Enjoy the process.

Three: Use your affirmations to describe you desired life. Be descriptive and use wonderful adjectives to put ‘oomph’ into your descriptions and affirmations and mental images. Make it vivid and glorious. The more strongly you feel as you describe and picture the more readily your subconscious mind gets the message.

Your pictures should support your affirmations and your affirmations should support help create your pictures. Describe the life you want as though you already have it. Feel what it is like to be there, having and doing those things. Feeling is most important. Keep all talk self-talk and other talk positive! Live your dreams in your mind fully as you are able.

Visualize, Affirm And Use Positive Self-talk

For example, if you want more money. Saying ‘I am debt free’.  Or ‘I have lots of cash’. May not make you feel very happy. The first puts your focus on debt. You want to put your focus on prosperity. You may wish to say, ‘I have all the money I need’.

But even the second example and this one may not trip your trigger too much. Piles of cash may be nice but some people are not that excited by green paper. It is what the green paper represents that is important. It is all you can do with lots of the green stuff that makes you feel good.

Think of all the things you will do with that money. It isn’t the money that makes you happy but what you are able to do because of the money.  You might love to travel or by a new home. It could be purchasing nice things makes you feel good. Perhaps it is  the security and confidence to be able to do whatever you want, with whomever you want, whenever you want makes you happy.

Think about it. Feel happy! Feel great and notice why you feel happy.  It is what you do with what you have is where the feelings come from.  Use what makes you feel the best.

Spaced Repetition Builds Habits

Fourth: Do it repeatedly. Do it every day. Spaced repetition develops habits. Everyday visualize and use affirmations. Keep in mind what predominately occupies your mind is what you get. What you think about most often you bring about. You get what you focus on. DO it everyday and do not stop.

Don’t miss a day. Commit. While that may seem like a big commitment there is a reason for it. Some people rationalize once they miss going to the gym or fudging on their diets and soon give it up. You don’t want to end up like one of those people do you?

Don’t let there be any room for not following through. Keep your promise to yourself. Consider this an investment in you and cherish this investment. Cherish yourself, value yourself enough to stick with it. Thought precedes action. Get you head together first and foremost.

Begin the day right. Start it off positive. Affirm and visualize. Then affirm and visualize  whenever you can during the day to stay positive. Fill your mind with positive thoughts, words and actions. Before you go to sleep count your blessings and affirm and visualize for your subconscious to work on while you sleep.

Take Action Steps

Fifth: Start moving forward. Take the first steps. Take action. Create momentum.  Follow through. During the time you were clarifying your goals and dreams and affirming and visualizing your mind, your subconscious, helps you create a plan.

Be aware of flashes of insights and ideas that you can do that help you get your goal. Work you plan. Plans may change but you don’t change you goal. You keep you intention and work creatively to get it. Remember, step by step you make your dreams come true.

With the right mindset in place, first, you will look for and you will find, you will make happen and attract, the right people, the right circumstances, events, and opportunities that are advantageous for you.

When you align your energies with what you desire and when you get congruent in your conscious intentions with your subconscious you become a creative force to be reckoned with. You become a powerful Can Do person.

You become a powerful Chooser. You determine your destiny. You begin to live as a champion and as a winner. You become a powerful creator who makes things happen. You become a magnet to attract all good things to you. What you put out to the universe you get back. Like attracts like.

Thought precedes actions. The most successful people already know and practice this. They either learned it deliberately or stumbled on it. Those who struggle in life often work hard and wonder why their actions aren’t paying off. Have you ever? If so, you must get your mind in the right place first. Then everything else can line up behind it and work.

As Above So Below As Within So Without

Sixth: Get the Within in order and the Outer will follow. Take care of your mind and body. Consume healthy nutrition to feed the mind as well as the body. Read positive books and articles. Listen to positive talks and speeches. Attend positive events and seminars.

Consider finding and spending time with people who are already doing what you want to do well. Also find those who are pursuing it as you are too. If you want to get good at anything you need people around you who are good and better.

You don’t want to be the smartest person in the room because you won’t learn anything. If you want to learn to play chess, or basketball you need to be around others who play the game. If you want to be the best then you need to spend time around those who are the best.

Find a community of positive, encouraging, supportive people to hang out with. It will make a big difference. Not only can they encourage and support and contribute to you but you can for them. The practice of contributing to others also makes you happier and healthier and stimulates you to get all the good things you want.

Bonus: Take time and apply these six steps and you will rock your world. You will transform yourself and your life in positive and dynamic ways. You will begin to experience many good things that will delight and surprise you. While on the path put your attention on the successful steps you take. Put your attention on the wins, large or small.

Keep Your Focus On The Steps You Can Take 

When climbing a mountain it is recommended to look down a few paces ahead of your feet. Do not look at the peak. The contrast of where you are and where you need to get to is vast and may cause you to lose faith and give up if you constantly compare. It drains you of your energy and confidence.

If you keep your focus on the few paces in front of your feet you are making the journey step by step. You are moving forward and no longer comparing. You can celebrate each step knowing you are getting closer. You are winning each step of the way. You are keeping your focus on what you can do.

Yes, it tricks the mind and you into sticking with it by making it easier for you. The same is true of our goals. Keep you attention on the small wins. Each step you take in the right direction is positive. Do not compare, let go of the when and be grateful for the now.

Do these six or seven things. Start today. Never wait when opportunity presents itself. Take advantage of now! Fill yourself up with feeling good and thinking good. Begin surrounding yourself with quality people. Focus on the small wins along the way. Enjoy the journey and you will make your dreams come true. Never quit.” Rex Sikes

If You Aren’t Doing This: It’s No Wonder You Aren’t Getting What You Want!

“Do you want more from life? Do you want more happiness, a better career, greater health? Would you like greater love and satisfaction in your relationships, a nicer home, more wealth? Are there things you want more of?

Is there anything you’d like to do, play piano, learn to knit, play soccer, vacation over seas? Would you like to be different in any way? Would you like to smile more, feel more confident, express joy easily, get better sleep at night, laugh outrageously, feel contented or deliriously happy?

Anything You Can Imagine Can Be Yours

Anything you can think of wanting and desiring could be yours. Did you know that? There is a secret to getting it more easily than you might imagine. I promise you if you faithfully engage this secret you will be pleasantly surprised. Would you like to know what it is?

Look at everything in your life and validate what you already have. No matter how small or large. If you have a want a new car for example, appreciate what you have now. Whether it is your two feet, a bike, a motorcycle, a car or even a crappy vehicle.  Love it and appreciate it.

When you can look at whatever it is you presently have with loving eyes, when you can value it and appreciate it then you open yourself up to the upgrade. When you are truly grateful and feel it genuinely then like does attract like. Birds of a feather flock together.

Feel Truly Grateful

When you are desperate or in need, when you disavow or dislike your present circumstances you attract more of what you do not want and do not like. You keep your situation the same or make it worse. You get what you focus on.

Your subconscious mind gets the messages you send it. What you see in your mind and speak with your mouth accompanied by strong feeling repeatedly makes an impression on the subconscious. Your subconscious only says ‘yes’ to whatever messages it receives. If it receives the message ‘this is crap’ it says, ‘yes it is and here is more’.

If it receives a message ‘this is wonderful’ it says, ‘yes it is and here is more’. It doesn’t care, discriminate or judge. It is merely a servant that gets you whatever you strongly focus on. So if life sucks and circumstances are not to your liking YOU are the only one who can change that.

AND you can change that! Change your focus and your feelings. Start loving and appreciating yourself. When you love someone you speak thoughtfully, kindly and nicely to them. Monitor your thoughts and self talk and treat yourself lovingly and well.

Love Yourself!

You want your lover to feel the best so you do things to make them feel this way. Do the same for yourself. Love yourself! Treat yourself with respect, care, kindness, and gentleness. Take care of yourself, nurture yourself. Give to yourself.

Smile, laugh enjoy life more. Feel your best and when you do everything begins to change. Feel good more often. Appreciate everything about you. Look for silver linings. Frame everything positively.

Speak only to bless, heal and prosper. Be grateful and express your gratitude. Imagine how wonderful everything already is and how wonderful it will be too. Feel this fully. What you think about you bring about!

Look for options instead of obstacles. Stop whining and complaining. No pity party for you.  Don’t think times are tough. Appreciate! See the present as abundant. Whatever you have at least you have that! Validate it and appreciate it and you can get more of it.

Feeling Wonderful Opens The Floodgates

When you appreciate and are grateful you send a signal to your subconscious that you like it and want it. You like it and want it and want more of it. You subconscious says, ‘yes’ and gives you more.

It will figure out the how. Your job is to be concerned with the what. What you want and what you are grateful for is what you need to know. Don’t concern yourself with how or when. Simply remain grateful and keep the faith. Enjoy the process. Take it lightly!

How is not for you to know. No one really knows how until they do it anyway. The Wright brothers didn’t know how to fly until they had. Edison didn’t know how to make a lightbulb work until it did. Ford didn’t know how to create a working V-8 engine until they made one.

Drop your problems and hardships. Make problems matter less. Get caught up in feeling good and grateful and forget about how anything happens. If you are needy you prevent yourself from getting more of what you want because you are creating more need.

Focus On What You Are Grateful For

Let go of the how and simply expect good things. Appreciate what you have and feel blessed. Give it over to your subconscious, to God or the Universe to figure out how while you continue to enjoy and celebrate life.

Expect good things and be patient. Get to enjoy what you have so much right now that you no longer compare or seek what is missing. When your life is so enjoyable it is overflowing you will add in good things. You will get more good things. You will be amazed!

You will attract the right people and circumstances and make what you want to happen. You will be in the right mind set for you to open doors and go through them. Life will become a delightful adventure for you to explore.

Feeling successful precedes success. Feeling happy brings more happiness. Feeling wealthy precedes cash flow. Loving oneself genuinely opens the door for incredible relationships. “Do you want to be happier? Happier people tend to enjoy life more and live longer. They are overall more satisfied. They do better in their careers. Typically, they have greater success and accomplish more things because they are happy. Would you like to as well?

You can! You can be happier and healthier in mind, body and spirit! You can enjoy life more. You can have greater and more fulfilling relationships with family, lovers and friends. All of your world can be much more delightful when you DO what the happiest people do.

How Happy People Live – What Happy People Do

Happy people do not necessarily have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. They have the ability to look for the silver lining in all circumstances.

They look for the good in all people and circumstances and find it. They focus on the good they find and do not let themselves be distracted by gossip or less than glorious conversation.

They seek to inspire and motivate. They prefer to feel good. They do not get caught up in whining, complaining or blaming. They know life is too short and they are smart enough not to waste their energy.

Happy people know that what you focus on is what you get. They clearly realize that you become what you think about. They keep their thoughts and words and actions positive.

They  think, speak and act only to bless, heal, and prosper. They let others be who they are. They are open and accepting without judgement or discrimination. Happiness knows no boundaries.

Happy People Choose The Best Thoughts, Words And Actions

They understand it is not about what you have or how much you have because everything they touch they turn to gold. They celebrate and appreciate right where they are. The feel blessed!

They live with gratitude for whatever they have and whomever they are with. Whether they have a lot or only a little they are happy. Successful or not they are happy because they know happiness is a choice.

Happy people know that while others may have reasons not to be happy they do not. Truly happy people know that just because circumstances change that is not reason to choose to be unhappy.

The happy people know it comes from within. They understand it is their attitude and what is in their heart that matters the most. They know they can do anything when they think and feel positive.

They understand happiness is not an act or a destination but a process or a journey. They realize that to be happy they must actively choose to be happy. It is up to them. They are responsible. It is what they do actively on the inside that makes the difference.

Happy People Live In The Present

They know to have more in life you must be glad for where you are right now. They know that future moments are based on the way you live and think and act in this moment. They live in the present.

Happy people don’t make excuses when things don’t work out. They do find reasons to be happy. They take responsibility for it and make corrections. They focus on the solutions instead of problems.

They do not live in the past or worry about the future. The live in the present BUT with purpose. They know what they want. They know what their life means. They understand their mission. They have clarified what they want and that they want to be and do.

Happy people tend to live longer because they act younger. They delight in little things.  They stay young because they are willing to express their happiness and their joys. The laugh and celebrate freely!

They remain curious, fascinated and amazed. They know the value of a kind word. They know the power of a smile and of laughter. Because they laugh and smile they look, act, feel and remain younger.

Happy People Know It Comes From Within – Not Without

You too can choose to be happy. You can fill yourself up with good thoughts and feelings. You can read inspired works, listen to motivational audios and surround yourself with positive people.

If you do what happy people already are doing you too can be happy. Happy people don’t waste their time with unhappy thoughts or negative energy. They know that what you think about you bring about.

They live from their positive mindset, their attitude and their heart. The live from the choices they make. They are no different than you or I but they think and behave differently.

That is the critical difference. Adopt the positive thoughts of happy people and make them your own. You too will be more happy. Rain falls on the happy and sad as do bad times.

Happy People Choose To Be Happy

Happy people respond differently than the rest BECAUSE they do not waste their time with negative thoughts or negative energy. They do not major in minor things. They understand what is important and what is better to let go of.

It is one of those unwritten laws that success comes to those who already feel successful. It begins inside your mind and heart. You feel it and believe it then you make it happen.

While a few people do luck into it if you ask the most successful people they will tell you they knew it and felt successful before success arrived. Attitude first!

The same is true with happiness. It doesn’t come to you. You make it happen and fill your life with it. It is active and a choice you make each moment.

You are in charge of your own happiness by getting in charge of your own thinking. Waiting to be happy only keeps it in the distance. You must be happy now. If you can choose to be happy why would you ever choose not to be?

Happy people know this. They understand it is a choice. From this choice their lives have purpose and meaning. They don’t wait to be happy they CHOOSE it for themselves right now. You can too! Choose to be happy!” Rex Sikes

What To Do When You Are Bothered By Negative Thoughts And Feelings

“Negative thoughts and feelings can be trouble. What to do when you have a negative thought? It can ruin your day. It could interfere with your ability to feel happy and successful, pursue your career and enjoy life overall. Some people try to avoid negative thoughts.

Trying to fight thoughts and feelings usually only exaggerates them and makes them worse. You have probably found that to be true, right? There is a way you can get free from them. Would you like to know how? Keep reading.

Thoughts come and they keep coming. Many are repetitive, habitual, chronic old thoughts that just run on and on. The reason you keep thinking the same thing may be because you never attempted to direct them before.

How To Change The Old Into The New

It is estimated we think over 60,000 thoughts a day. 60 percent or more are the thoughts we routinely think. They are the thoughts from the day before and the day before that. The reason we have these repetitive thoughts is because most people don’t bother to learn HOW TO think better.

We think because we think that is how it has to be. We don’t realize that thinking is a skill and a process as any other. We can be good at it if we want to be or we can accept however we learned to do it. That is a choice each of us can make once we realize we have that choice. It would be nice to be a talented thinker, wouldn’t it?

Just like training a horse it can take some time but you can learn to think in new ways. You can think in new positive ways just as reliably and automatically as the old way. The way you learn to think new thoughts is you choose. You make choices. You decide what to think.

Decide To Become A Talented Thinker

You claim and you regain control. You put yourself in charge and you begin to decide what to think. That is what affirmations,  Directed Questions™ and positive self-talk is all about. You choose the thoughts and images you want to fill your mind with. You choose the best thoughts to think about yourself!

If you are up late at night and watching TV or a movie that you don’t like because it produces horrible thoughts or images what do you do to quit being bothered? Some people say turn it off. That doesn’t work because then you think about the last things you saw over and over.

Instead, you change the channel. You watch something else. You tune to something you enjoy. Soon you will forget about the old horrible show and images because you will be caught up in the new more enjoyable ones. You chose to put your attention elsewhere.

You Are In Charge – Change The Channel

You make positive thinking a reality in the same manner. You switch what you are thinking about. You don’t try to stop thinking negatively because what you resist persists. You don’t try to shut the less than glorious off rather you add in more positive, powerful, enjoyable, glorious thoughts.

You make the new thinking a habit by choosing to  think and affirm the new thoughts over and over repeatedly. You think them and add positive emotion and enthusiasm while you say or shout them out loud to yourself. Think of the intense emotions used in military training or sports training. Make your feelings intensely joyful!

Over time, the new thoughts take hold. You begin to think them more reliably and you begin to believe them. They become a part of you. They begin to come naturally and habitually. The older thoughts you think less and less. Your new thoughts take hold.

You Form Habits By Correct Practice And Spaced Repetition

Just as when you change residence. At first you may find yourself inadvertently traveling back to your former address. In time that will happen less and less as you continue to return to the new home address. Soon enough the new address takes hold and you always go there. You learn to go where you put your attention. It is reliable!

It works the same way you make a pathway in the forest or pasture. You travel the same route again and again until a path is formed. It works the same way in the brain.

You create new neural pathways to travel by choosing the thoughts you want to think and repeating them again and again. The key is to use strong, intense, positive strong emotions while affirming. The emotions are what wires in the thoughts.

Choose Your Thoughts

Choose to think new thoughts.  Become aware when you aren’t. Make a correction by adjusting thoughts that run counter to what you want. Change to a positive channel. You will feel better too.

Apply, correct, apply correct and soon over time you get the knack and develop the new thinking habit. It is not just the words but the feeling you have when saying the words. Once you choose to think better thoughts your feelings improve too! It works both ways.

But What If I Think A Negative Thought?

It is okay. We all do. We are human.

Frequently it means that thought is a signal to get your attention. It is a signal that you need to put your attention on something in order to avoid or resolve a difficulty. The same is the case with less than glorious feeling. It means you are focused in the wrong place.

Perhaps, you are more focused on what you do not want than on what you want. Notice the thought or feeling, acknowledge it and put you attention where you want it to be instead. If the thoughts stop or the feelings change for the better you got the message.

You Have  A Guidance System That Provides Feedback

Once you get the message stop focusing on the message. Apply your positive thinking on making the situation better. If it alerts you to something you do not want FANTASTIC!! Now turn your attention to what you do want and concentrate on making this happen.

Switch the channel. Focus on the positive thoughts you want instead. It may be something triggered old associations. That is okay it may happen from time to time.

If it persists it may be you need to listen to your gut. Something requires your attention. Calm down, relax, and accept it. Listen patiently. Learn to pay attention to your inner guidance. Once you get the message you will experience relief or at least the nagging will cease.

The Goal Is To Feel Good Most Of The Time

The goal is to think positive thoughts and feel better MOST of the time. It doesn’t mean we never have other thoughts. So you chose to and do what you need to do to feel good most of the time. If 60, 70, 80 percent of your time is spent feeling fantastic life will be too!

Negative thoughts can be signals. No worries. Utilize them when you become aware of them. Take it as a signal to put your attention  on what you want to include rather than what you want to avoid or exclude. Sometimes they are extraneous and nothing to be concerned with.

They serve as a signal message or as feedback so you can better move forward. Isn’t that great?  We have an internal guidance system. We have our own inner GPS that can take us to where we want to go. Learn to appreciate it, use it and it will serve you well.

We are fortunate that we have this system of guidance. We are fortunate that we can control and choose what we think when we want to. Do we have to be positive and happy all the time? NO the choice is yours. BUT when one learns the power of choosing how to respond in any situation all of life seems to remarkably improvel

Accepting things as they are is important too. If, for example, one suffers a loss of someone close to them. Grieving is a normal process. Allow it. It is not about trying to avoid or alter it. Let it process. Take your time, be sensitive and when ready move on.

What About Negative Feelings?

To reiterate the same applies to feelings. More often than not it is a signal to get your attention to make a positive change in some way. Again, don’t focus on the negative feeling. Put your focus on what you want.

It may be telling you you are off course or focused on the wrong things. So change what you are paying attention to or what you are focused on. If you then feel better you know you made the right correction.

The bad or less than glorious feeling is feedback. It is a signal you are headed or heading off course and alerting you to get back on track. Celebrate it.

It Is A Signal, Feedback, A Message – Pay Attention

We are so lucky to have this available to us. Learn to use it! AND use it! Pay attention and shift your attention as necessary. Energy flows where you attention goes. What you focus on you get.

Monitoring feelings makes everything easier. You either feel good or great or not so good or bad. The goal is to live life feeling the best you are able most of the time. You want to live with joy and celebrating everything.

When you feel less than glorious you are being notified that something is out of whack and requires your attention. Then move step by step toward feeling the best you can. Do whatever you need to feel better. Choose different thoughts, ask questions, go for a walk, skip, sing, dance. Change the channel! Feel better.

Sometimes feeling a little bit better is enough. It moves you in the right direction. For example, right now you are sitting wherever you are. You want to enjoy yourself in a theme park but right now you don’t feel that wonderful.

Drop By Drop Fills The Tub – Bit By Bit You Will Get There

Take a step toward the theme park you want to be at. You are now one step closer. Step by step you will get closer and closer until finally you are there. As long as you are headed in the correct direction you are making progress.

You may notice the closer you get the more eager anticipation you feel. With each step you can leave the less than glorious feelings behind. You’ll move into better feelings until finally you are there enjoying all there is to enjoy! This is how we nudge ourselves along.

Notice that as the eagerness increases you are thinking different thoughts. You attention is no longer on not having or not being there but on the things that you can’t wait to do while there. You are thinking about the fun so your feelings and thoughts change as a result.

Stop Being Critical – Learn How To Let Go And Accept

Accept wherever you are without being critical of yourself. We think we should be further along and better at it than we are presently. In reality, there is no place to be other than in this moment where you are. You can’t force it. Accept where you are at. Love yourself.

You planted seeds now let them grow without any critical commentary. Have faith, trust the process. Let go and let them grow. They wil blossom soon enough but maybe not in your time frame. Let it go. Relax and allow. Be patient. Everything in its own time.

Don’t add insult to injury by heaping less than glorious commentary on yourself whenever you think, feel or do anything. Learn to let go of that old habit. The ability to let go and accept is part of evolving into a more positive and powerful person.

When you let go and drop negative running commentary you and your mind are free to focus on creating what you wan. You are more able to align your resources to enable you to do that. You aren’t distracted by the comments.  You are singularly focused and this is powerful.

You Are In Charge – Exercise Your Ability To Choose The Best

Free yourself up to be who you are. You are a person who has choices and who can decide. Even if you believe you never have you still  can learn how to take charge. Bit by bit. In life you make countless decisions on what to wear, eat, where to go, what to do, what to watch.

Chose your thoughts. Chose the best thoughts. Make thinking positively and powerfully a habit. Enjoy the finest feelings you can find. Spend more time enjoying thinking better and feeling better. Soon enough it will be a habit and overall your life will transform.

Find things to appreciate about yourself, others and the world. Find the best in each and every moment and circumstances. Put a smile on your face and believe in yourself. YOU can do this. Start now and everything can change in wonderful ways! You can be delighted and surprised!” Rex Sikes
